​@@whizthesugoi As far as I can tell it's debatable whether synapsids are a sub category of reptile, or a sister category, but I personally feel that many animals in the synapsid clade are similar enough (especially in the more casual usage of the word reptile). For instance, avian dinosaurs and crocodilians, while closely related to each other, are pretty distantly related to Lizards but they're all reptiles. Also, the non mammal synapsids are typically known as mammal-like reptiles, so it's a distinction that is very blurry anyway. Edit: Ok, reading more, It kind of seems that the definitions for Reptiles have been changed to differenciate sauropsids and synapsids. As for whether synapsids are reptiles, It seems to me that those who say they aren't are using a very contemporary based perscriptive language, where because synapsids are different from reptiles, they are not reptiles. However I would say that because we evolved from reptiles, that we still are reptiles in a fashion. It is like how even though I am different from my grand parents, I still belong to that family, even if the family name might change. It doesn't help that evolution is not a clean and regimented process, so all things live in a gradient from one distinction to the next, and it's kind of up to the observer how things are categorized.

Kinda funny hearing about Tomato's medical craziness since im in kinda similar situation.
