I always laugh about the Pinto and the Corvair since both cars' problems over time have been so overblown by culture, the Pinto didn't explode in a crash and the Corvair didn't just fold and go flipping across the road, and in fact the Pinto would've had no problems at all if the then-standard steel gas tanks were replaced by the safer polypropylene ones that the Pinto was in fact a big factor in the invention of, and the Corvair's suspension folding issues were solved under a year after the first was sold, but Ralph Nader already destroyed the reputation of the car by then since he was hunting for a car to blame and the Corvair unluckily ended up in his crosshairs. Car history is interesting

Yup. And the first-gen Mustang had a similar sort of bad design with the fuel tank. They're not _quite_ as close to the rear bumper, but they are "drop-in" tanks that form the trunk floor, and the wall between the trunk and car interior is just particleboard, so the gas tank is basically in the cabin as far as fire safety is concerned. And yet almost nobody ever talks about that. I do like that movie clip that he showed for the Pinto, though; it makes it clear just how silly the popular conception is.

My car doesn't have the arrow on the fuel gauge
@fillman867 ай бұрын
it seems the convention of doing that came in patchy in the 80s/90s some people have said that the orientation of the picture of the fuel bowser can indicate the side too

i feel like if we ever get ATGs engine sim into beamNG they will do more detailing to the engine bay
@fillman867 ай бұрын
oh man that'd be wild! I don't believe that's what they're doing though, but instead a half measure because they don't need the whole thing, just better simulation

@@fillman86 true. Intergration is in atgs plan that he showed at the end of one of his videos. Ofc he didnt have any specific ideas on how it would be intergrated but yeah. Still would be cool

we had the best rework and the worst rework back to back either the 240SX was done by different team or the devs were burnt out from the T-series

If you install the V8 in a factory BX the air filter clips massively with the Battery.

So there was an update and they apparently "fixed some issues in the engine bay". I was wondering if you're going to make a follow-up video where you check out whether they fixed the issues or not :D
@fillman866 ай бұрын
Wait, they fixed it? lol that wasn’t the point of the video, but I just might

the fuel arrow isn't present on every cars. To know the side of your car the fuel cap is: Just look on which side of your dash the fuel jauge is. if the fuel level is left of rpm/speed -> your cap is on left side; on the right of rpm/speed -> right side of your car.

There were no production Onevias and Sileighties as far as I am aware. A japanese tuner supposedly was building an official sileighty that was intended to be a productioin vehicle, but they only built one.
@fillman866 ай бұрын
turns out the onevia was quite common in north america. The sil80 was a joint effort with a tunner and I think they made only 500 official ones
@petlemons6 ай бұрын
@@fillman86 Well now I feel stupid! I've just realized the 240SX is basically the Onevia. Never really put two an two together. It was actually the only S chassis that was sold in Canada (and probably the US as well, but who cares about them). You could only get them with the KA24, and if you were lucky, you could find one with the KA24DE.

in north America A 240sx Coupe came with the pop ups on the coupe.
