Frigging love this rendition of a classic and dare I say iconic theme from the days of SNES yore. The fact that Koshiro-san himself stepped up to do the entire soundtrack is just awesome. All the instruments are real, the bass line just SLAPS! Bassist is named Toshiyuki Tanahashi, and he's downright amazing if I say so myself. Helps that the game itself kicks serious ass. Thanks for uploading this, I hope the sequel gets a remake/fleshing out.

I've been wanting to get it but life keeps getting in the way. It looks pretty cool and the fact that the original composer came in to redo the soundtrack of pretty cool, though I must admit that I preferred the original organs and bass guitar for Filmore, it just sounds more like "God is pissed off and is going to kick your ass." I would have died of a prolonged eargasm if it was recreated with the original instrument setup. That is not to say that I don't like this rendition though. It's amazing in its own right.

@@bon7029 But what they need to do now for DLC to Ren, add all the AR2 story, but expand it also with the world building. Fighting these generals were one thing, but in 2, you fought the embodiments of sin, Sloth, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, Lust, Greed and Pride as the main bosses, and their act one bosses as well. 7 New heroes can be added to them to embody the cardinal virtues that oppose them.
@DesertRainReads2 жыл бұрын
@@vargaslestrae7900 I would say that an Actraiser Renaissance 2 would be in order with your suggestions. Keep the story but redo the action stages because they were a cast iron bitch, make them more akin to the original. I agree about the sim aspect. Flesh it out even further, and make it that the lands you purify can connect directly to one another, that you can customize what types of areas you want to have built, look out not just for hordes of enemies but also for natural disasters and have to rebuild should a building get destroyed, etc.

@@DesertRainReads Also work on the pace. Alcaleone was great, with enough dialogs to keep it lively, but the previous realms were constant talking to the point of being infuriating. The hero dynamic in Alcaleone was great, and they were more involving than the nameless worshippers of each realm.

@@UNSTABLE111 Understood. I don't hate Renaissance, I'm just old school. I ignored most of the dialogue in the SNES version as a kid, and I feel like Renaissance really doubled down on it. Plus Renaissance just didn't play as crisply to me in the side scrolling sections despite the graphical overhaul. It's not bad, but it's not a necessary replacement for the SNES version as far as I'm concerned... And then the soundtrack starts up and I question everything again.
@DesertRainReads Жыл бұрын
@@UNSTABLE111 I love them both, the original holds up very well and I loved what they did with Renaissance by fleshing out each realm with heroes. Bloodpool especially benefitted from this, making it that Teddy is more than just the name of someone you need to rescue in Act 2. They attached his name to an avatar and gave him a full-fledged personality of his own. It added significance to the story. Giving each realm a flare of its own was also a bonus. Fillmore and Bloodpool were inspired by England and Ireland respectively. Kassandora was inspired by Egypt Marahna was inspired by India or the Middle East Aitos was inspired by either Korea, The Philippines or Malaysia Northwall was clearly inspired by Iceland or Greenland I love how they gave each civilization their own distinct flare and added heroes to flesh it all out. It gave me extra incentive to play through. Plus, they kept the side quest from the original and restored Fillmore Act 1's music to Fillmore Act 2 like the Super Famicom original had. Definitely a massive win right there, mainly because Kassandora Act 2/Marahna Act 1's song didn't fit Fillmore Act 2.

Yes, and it's fantastic too, perfectly fitting. Especially that harpsichord solo in the middle, the funky, slapping, Toshiyuki Tanahashi bass line, and then the guitar breakdown before the loop repeats. God is that ever so fitting. I'm also beyond glad they fixed a glitch that was present in the US SNES version which mistakenly played the Kassandora Act 2/Marahna Act 1 song in Fillmore Act 2. I always felt it didn't fit during that stage and when I saw someone play through a Japanese ROM hack of the SFC version and heard Fillmore's theme play again, I then knew why this was. Fillmore's song played in Acts 1 and 2 in the SFC original version of the game, the way it was meant to happen. They restored this back to how it should be in Actraiser Renaissance. I'm so grateful for that.

Sadly this is a miss. The song doesn't fit the game in the least. Yuzo Koshiro himself may made this remix, but in a game about you being an objectively good catholic-religion-inspired deity fighting against an objectively evil force, this song fails. Give me the choirs, organs, violins and strings and shit. The song loses gravitas when he goes all in on the electric guitar like some 90's rock reject. In short, the song doesn't fit the general themes and art direction of the game.
@jensenrichwealthcarluisa.1813 Жыл бұрын
Youre wrong bro this soundtrack fits the theme and concept of the game I hope other platforming levels has this kind of feel in the soundtrack but they are boring. The soundtrack feels like someone is going to destroy the children of the night it feels like castlevenia. You are a warrior summon by God to do his biddings to destroy the fiends! The soundtrack fits well.
@gokajern Жыл бұрын
@@jensenrichwealthcarluisa.1813 No, my dude. I'm right. Castlevania's songs fit castlevania quite well, and most of them have real count dracula stuff. That is, choirs, organs, at least they try to loosely imitate the religious feels. Very much unlike the overcooked garbage of a much better song that this is. It's not even the first time Koshiro fails at remixing his old music. Nothing about the petty guitar screams children dying to me. Besides all the children are already dead, you're not even reviving them or anything, you're encouraging further generations. Like I said, all bluster no gravitas.

Neither of you are wrong. You both have your preferences, well really we all do, and no matter how we feel about something like music we're all 'right'. Someone who doesn't like this track is right; someone who does like it is right; the person (or people) who created the music are also right! We all interpret it in our own way.

Always thought this tune was a lot different to the other in game tunes in the original too
@vasudean Жыл бұрын
I agree, but for a bit of a different reason. The added rock theme made the song feel cluttered rather than the clean way the original had. Granted what made the original so great was the gothic tone it took, similar to how Demon's Crest and Ghouls and Ghosts handled it. That's what gave it it's biblical undertones.
