I am from Angola ( África) and I really want to become an actor, this is the main reason I am learning English.

I just had a part that was offered to me and I took it. I have mostly theater background. I went and did the part. I had a conversation with the other actor and got to get into my character before we filmed my scene. I felt everything flowed really naturally. I have not got to see my footage however I was fired from the production because apparently when they went to go edit my scene it felt like a play. I did not audition for this part and was barely given any synopsis or feedback about the character other than the script that was given to me telling me that I was this character. The scene that I have filmed was supposed to be part of a proof of concept

My guess would be that it was probably just projected vocally too much. You might want to try pulling back the performance to a place where it feels like you are doing almost nothing at all.

I'm not an actor; but I did notice that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine had much clearer speech, and much stronger intention, than later installments to the Star Trek universe. And I also can't help but notice that the intro to The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall, which was arguably the single greatest cinematic element in a video game, was so great due to the acting approach that the local Shakespearean troupe took, who were hired for the scene. The theater approach is a much more exaggerated, much purer projection of the character to the audience - which I think adds more, than the believably of natural behavior does. The only thing that really takes me out of a theater actor's performance, is if the particular feel they project is inappropriate - which is also why I imagine a theater-grounded performance is probably harder for recorded media. It seems very powerful and very clear, but easy to destroy a scene with if the actor presents dissonant characteristics. I don't know if this is a misguided idea, but everything I see, with (an appropriate) theater-based delivery, seems better, in every way that matters for consuming intentional art, than media with a natural delivery.

You are the best .Learning so much from you but I have a question..Can you please give practical examples of 2-3 dialogues that are to be spoken in front of the camera vs theatre for differentiating the dialogue delivery process please?

Hi, I am 15 right now and I am struggling with how many hours I should practice acting every day. I don't know how much practice is healthy and can help me to go as far as possible in my career and how much practice can lead to a burn out. Can you help me to find the best amount of practicing this art every day, so I can go as far as possible? And are there any tricks to not burn out really quickly as an actor? Because I practiced acting for 1 year and I already had some signs of a coming burn out in the future. Ps. Good Video as always!!!

I would say it might be appropriate to set aside time for your career at least 3 days a week for maybe 1-2 hours, that could be research, reading books, acting classes, breaking down scripts, etc.

@@Studio24inc Thanks for that advice! The thing is, right now I am training 2½ hours 4 days a week und 3½ hours two days a week. Would you also say that would be ok or should I do more or less than that?

Thank you for your videos. I see you usually use affective memory and the Stanislavski/Strasberg method. But what do you think about using the Meisner method in film?

May I just ask, is it true that if you really want to get a career in acting on film you will have to have some experience with theatre acting or do theatre acting first? Because I would love to be an actress. It’s the only thing that has ever made sense to me honestly; and I would just like to know this from someone that is involved in this whole topic professionally.😊 Also I was wondering if you were going to start doing film acting around the ages of 13-17 (or any age really) then how do you really get out there and how do you get people to want you in their movies a lot more over time and become successful at it. Is there some kind of “secret” to it? If so, what is it may I ask? Thanks so much for reading and listening I really appreciate it! 🤗

My question is if you are doing a film scene and you have to shout, do you shout or do you not over do the shout letting the microphone or boom pick it up? I'm concerned about emotion like shouting out of being frantic, do you lower the shout for film? I hope this question is clear.
@Studio24inc7 ай бұрын
My advice would be to let the sound recorder figure out what they need to do to capture good audio on your performance. For tv/film acting, just make it real without any thought about it being too loud or soft. It will be what it will be. If you need to shout, shout. If they need you to make an adjustment on volume for some reason, they’ll let you know.

i think your mindset is a bit naive. They are films who break this rule, about theatre(out) and film (inside). For example "Woman under the influence". Does she play like you said?

Improv live and improv in front of digital cameras. You have to get it right the first time and do as many times as needed. It's all assembled later and it's all in the moment. Think BIRDMAN think. Jump off the roof and fly away or stay grounded by the critics words and labels that they are getting paid for. You get to decide.
