Film Bros and I have a very complicated relationship and past, so with that being said, let's piss them off a bit more by ranking 32 of their favourite movies in a tier list designed by yourse truly!

I don't think that there's a single film released in the 21st century that has been referred to as "overrated" more than The Dark Knight. Ask at literally any forum what people think of it and you're bound to find at LEAST one person that shared your sentiment.

Not every story needs characters to change or "move",... seven is a great film, and the thing that makes it really cool is that the characters are so persistent in their own ways

I don't think that's *necessarily* a paradox. I think plenty of stuff can be sophisticated and visceral. I think the reason filmbros like it so much is it activates the same excitement as more approachable, thrilling pictures but in a way they can feel smart about.

Joker is not a "carbon-copy" of Taxi Driver. It's a direct downgrade. Taxi Driver doesn't glorify Travis, makes the point it tries to get through very clear and it's not a huge "society bad" movie. The only redeeming quality of this movie (that makes it close to TD anyway) is the cinematography and Joaquin's acting but honestly he's never bad.

Batman Begins, Into the Spider-Verse, The Batman, The Incredibles, Thor Ragnarok, Infinity War, Spider-Man 2, Guardians of the Galaxy (any of them), X2, Unbreakable, Batman Returns, Darkman And then a few comic book movies, not necessarily "superhero" films: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Hellboy, Blade, The Crow Off the top of my head, I would personally say those are better films with the rough genre. Of course a lot of that is subjective and some I'd argue way more than others but yeah, hope this helps.

i agree with most of your tier, some movies maybe slightly higher or lower but nothing major except for some so here's my take on the major ones 1- django unchained - i don't think it's that good i think it's a decent time but for me i think it didn't live up to my expectations but maybe i need to revisit it 2- prisoners - for me is genuine cinema i think it was carried by the performance for me but i did feel the frustration of the character in every scene 3- la la land - was genuine cinema for me but i understand your reasoning behind your placement here 4 joker - is a decent time i think it's still good enjoyable movie but was ruined by the people over hyping it but maybe i am wrong i still liked it though 5- inception - i loved it the first time i saw it but the more i think about it i liked it less and less also didn't like the performances for the most part and i think it was not as visually pleasing for some reason "still think dunkirk is christopher nolan best movie" 6- space odyssey - i disagree with you i think it holds up very well 7 - seven - is actually bad for me the characters are so boring and i think the friendship was forced and rushed for me to care at the end still i would say that most of those movies are good even great, even if i think that some of them are better than the others i still understand why people would prefer one over the other english is not my first language so some of my points may not translate well

Watching this video, I went through the constant cycle of nodding in agreement and going “WHAT THE HELL MAN” 😂 My favourite on this list would easily be Whiplash, a top 3 movie for me, I adore it and as a creative, artsy person, I did genuinely find it inspiring. Also, Goodfellas and La La Land are movies I adore. I Really should check out some more of these films.

I'm mostly just exaggerating. I don't hate it and I think it's a very well made movie, just not one for me. I'm not heavy into most mafia/mob movies, not entirely my genre, with a few exceptions. So whilst I can totally respect it, it's not something I enjoy too much. Thank you for watching and being respectful too, not overly common on this site 🙏

I'm really new to film (both US and foreign) so I've seen very few of these, but I got to say, I agree on most of what I have seen, the only real changes I'd make is swapping American Psycho and Drive, and making Joker "it's fine" even though young me (read: me 6 years ago) would've put it in the top tier ^^' I don't think Joker is a beat-for-beat copy of Taxi Driver, but I do agree it's not the most original, and it feels like it's actively trying to be a film bro movie, which is just... why? Phoenix is great though, and he saves it tbh.

The problem with this tier list is the name of the tiers. You make it a clear that the list is based strictly off of personal enjoyment. Which is fine. Decent time/it’s fine are valid. But you can’t be ranking things based solely on personal enjoyment and then label the top spot “Genuine Cinema”. You’re telling me The fucking Godfather isn’t “genuine cinema”? You can make an argument that of any film ever made, in any country, at at any time, no film better represents cinema than The Godfather. I also like the idea of kind of dunking on “Film Bros” and then rating SCARFACE over The Godfather. You couldn’t create a bigger “bro” opinion in a lab. And I can’t fucking stand the way people talk about The Dark Knight and say “aside from The Joker”. You mean the main god damn villain of the movie? The person the entire film is built around? Yeah, fuck it. Besides him. Is Django REALLY that good without Leo? I mean fuck, how long is JK Simmons in Whiplash? How good is the movie without him? The idea of a movie having legitimately one of the greatest performances and characters in the history of cinema and then saying “well take him out of it.” is fucking insane. we agree and and disagree on a lot, the prestige is also my favorite Nolan. I also don’t really like The Usual Suspects all that much. All the movies in the top 2 tiers are great movies (even though most of these are great movies). I also disagree with a lot. None of these movies are actually bad. You know this. You know what a bad film looks and feels like, and very, very rarely do actually bad movies become “classics” in any manner. The Joker is a rip off and I find it highly overrated but is it actually “bad”? Come on, now. BUT, I understand for the sake of a tier list, some movies have to bite the bullet. But The Godfather being in “it’s fine” is downvote worthy. You know that’s a batshit opinion.

@@Kopers30 This is just overall silly, if you can understand from the context of some tiers that this is all opinion based, which is what all film discussion is btw, then of course the Genuine Cinema tier is also included in that line of thinking. What would be the point of the video if I just put every film where you expect me to? You might as well just read the IMDb top 250 if you're looking for that kind of validation. Also, this isn't necessarily a dunk on film bros, I've said a million times that the films often associated with that kind of film fan are very great movies, so what's your point? If this were an attempt to dunk on their taste, I'd put it all in the bottom tier. Also, the villain in a movie isn't all the film is so yes, you have to look at everything else too. I think when analyzing that movie, not much else is "greatest of all time" status aside from Ledger's performance. If one performance made a movie perfect, a lot more movies would be regarded just as good. It's okay to disagree with my opinions and placements, I'm sure you dislike movies I love or at least like less, but that doesn't really affect my enjoyment and I for sure would not be this obviously upset lol. My argument with Pulp Fiction isn't so much there is no plot, it's that there's no story. And please don't reduce my critiques, or anybody's, of certain films to 'attention span issues' because it's dismissive and unhelpful in the larger conversation. Being a 'classic' movie, doesn't mean that a person should like it. Plus, many of my favourites are 4hrs+, it's a matter of taste and that's what makes art interesting.
