Very cool. Of course, film is the superior medium, no matter how much the digital people say otherwise. Digital has a lot of work to be done on post and film does a lot of it in camera and development and less on post. Medium is a matter of choice, but its interesting that no matter how new digital is, it's still trying to copy film.

Digital will be able to mimic film 1 for 1 in the future very soon. Technology will get there.

@@michialharris1850 yeah for sure and to me, they're two different mediums to use for our art so I don't see them as a competition, but rather useful tools. Digital has more options to play around with, so whatever the artist wants, using whatever medium. I love them all for what they can do, not to forget painting, viewing, recording in VR and hopefully soon in holograms, where you don't need to wear anything, it's all there and actors can get a better feel of any digital inserts in the shot in real time while they interact with, for example, cartoons

Sorry for the noob question, but what is the difference between using the Film Compression tool, and the Analogue Range Limiter tool? And would one want to enable both of these tools at once in order to mimic the film look as closely as possible? Thanks!

Hello! What a great question! Film Compression is a film emulsion property, so this is a part of film exposure simulation. Dehancer uses analysis and tonal masking, and applies the true exposure correction to make highlights look film-like. This is a creative tool. So, it would be reasonable to use Film Compression to emulate film characteristic properties (highlights softness and top-midrange contrast). Analogue Range Limiter is rather a technical option. You may use the true dynamic range of the print scan (On) or match the screen contrast ratio (Off). This is rather a technical tool that doesn’t apply any specific tonal curve to any specific image areas. Usually Analogue Range Limiter is helpful when an extra rolloff is needed to use Exposure, Contrast and Expand without clipping in shadows and highlights.

Very cool! Although, you said this tool was also added to other Dehancer products, including iOS app.. but in fact, the only other product that have it is the iOS app. I updated my Dehancer Lite and it’s not in there! 😢

Were sorry you were misled. We meant that for other operating systems and hosts (except Adobe Premiere, update for this host is coming soon). As for product line, this only applies to the Pro product line.

The price went up recently on an already expensive plug, that offers no value for Resolve Studio users. Make this affordable instead of trying to make new Resolve users think they need this to take their video to the next level. You might have better luck on Adobe or Apple users. Suggestion, lower price to Studio users, if you don't have a studio version of Resolve, you're not a serious editor and this is right for you. @@Dehancer
