No one ever had blend of top notch romance and greatest acting skills together like Rajesh Khanna. The ONLY SuperStar of India. Salim Javed were the biggest back stabbers as they were nobody and totally unknown, until Kaka asked them to re-write the entire script of Hathi mere sathi and that is where they took off!!!

Mr Bachhan, Mr Yash Chopra, Mr Salim Khan and Mr Javed Akhtar cannot be blamed for Mr Khanna's fall. From 1969 (Aradhana) upto 1975 he became very popular in India. Film journalist Devyani Chaubal coined the compound adjective Superstar to describe him, but he never surpassed the popularity of Devsaab or Dilipsaab. Mr Khanna was a victim of his own tantrums. He would keep the entire unit waiting for hours. He would force changes in the script. His late night boozing sessions made it worse. Mr Bachhan was punctual, polite, and importantly followed the director meticulously. Messers Salim & Javed did not write Zanjeer with Mr Bachhan in mind. The role was offered to Devsaab, but he insisted on six or seven songs because good songs were the hallmark of his success. Basically, Mr Khanna is responsible for his fall no one else.
