Finally a good director reaction channel where they actually talk about the directing rather than just nodding to the beat

Really enjoy watching you analyze these videos from a director's POV. Personally I think their Kinetic Manifesto was a much better accompaniment to the song. Looking forward to more. Best of luck with your meetings!

The reason why the camera was looking up to jungkook is actually because he is seen as a powerful person since he has escaped from wherever he was. Therefore showing courage strength and power to make it out alive. So in my opinion the camera angle was perfect for this shot.

I'd recommend watching the Kinetic Manifesto Film as well as their Black Swan MV and Art Film! I would consider myself a cinephile in some aspect and I would love to hear you talk about movies as well as kpop. I saw that you did a couple of movie reviews awhile back and I would definitely watch your movie reviews if you decide to do them again. Thanks Paul!

I am an army 💜 and love the way u dissect the MV from filming point of view. Appreciate. Also like ur suggestion about the different camera angle, "hero shot", steadiness of the camera, artist position, fibonacci ratio(is it well spelled? not used to that term) etc. Anyway goodluck for the new project 👍

tea than13 Hey! Thanks so much! Yeah, didn't know how people would take a little constructive analysis, but it was all meant to point out both the great and what could be changed. If you get a chance, Google the golden ratio which is a graph of he fibonacci series. It'll blow your mind. Or just watch one of my older videos called "greatest secret to the universe" where I explain it. Appreciate you taking 10 minutes out of your day to check this out

I think that the reason they are all in the center is that they all represent one entity or body, but its different faces or aspects even tho their album is called 7 but 7 is one you know and in the end they all come together and become one..

hope grit could be! I’ve been noticing that most kpop videos keep people in the center. Just a different genre I guess

This was so insightful! I’m not really into any other kpop group, i only like bts, but i loved this so much that i’m going to watch your other reactions too haha. If you ever want to, you can check out some of the other bts music videos (for youtube or in your own time), they have some pretty cinematic pieces as well, as well as short films that i found very interesting, from a technical standpoint as well as the storytelling. I’m just going to list it here if you ever feel the urge to watch them! But please, only if you want to: Mvs: I Need You, Prologue, RUN, Epilogue: Young Forever. In this order. They tell a very intricate story, don’t have dances and stuff in them and are just focused on storytelling with nice music in the background. Also, their Wings Short Films are also very cool. As well as their short film Love Yourself: highlight reel All in all, i really enjoyed this video! You seem so knowledgeable. And i’m very happy to hear some criticisms from your side, me and most other supports of bts aren’t really fans of people who turn a blind eye to everything and pretend that everything bts do is perfect. So thank you for your honesty and for sharing your expertise with us.

thanks for spend a few minutes with me! You sound pretty knowledgeable about videos. Are you in media?
@charlieackles82544 жыл бұрын
Paul Leach not really in media, it’s more of a hobby/interest of mine? Haha. I’m in university for engineering, but i have taken a couple of elective classes in this field (mostly film). So i can’t say i’m really knowledgeable, but i do hold a lot of interest haha Thank you for your response, i’ll be sure to watch your other content as well and gain some more insight

I think the God shot was meant as foreshadowing, as its him who dips his hands in the water, loses the thorns around his wrists and lifts the conch to blow. He's a central figure in the story being told, so I think the God shot actually makes sense in that context.

I'm really late here, but I appreciate you explaining the "rules of filmmaking/shooting". As I've heard it before, its important to know and understand why the rules are the way they are: that way, when you break or bend them, it is a creative choice and serves a purpose to your storytelling/scene-setting/mood-setting. I also appreciate your honest critiques of MVs like these (especially like this one, dear lord) because the budgets for K-pop MV's are generally huge and are shot by professionals. Its certainly not amateur hour out there. So it is fun to see what they do "right/wrong" or just different. I do think the "god shot" was more to capture the perspective for the "god rays". Watching this video its pretty heavy-handed with the biblical imagery, so I think it might have been to capture Jungkook as a Christ-like figure in the storyline of the MV. I have a theory about how they flipped it for at the end, where RM is being looked down upon by the camera: The whole theme of the Map of the Soul series has been about Jungian psychological theory and the member's individuation process. It might be that they used the upward angle for Jungkook when he was trapped by his shadow and other aspects of his inner self; he felt powerful, but he was not. Now RM and the rest of BTS have realized their shadows, embraced them, and are now going forward (with a whole host behind them). They understand they are not larger than life, but rather just another individual amongst many trying to find their way in this world. I just kinda spitballed that as it came to me writing this comment so if its a little out there just let me know lol
