I really know what you are talking about with the ergonomics with the Pentax 67ii. When I bought my Pentax 6x7 it came with a costum made wooden grip in this 35mm slr style. At first I didn't really care that much but since I shot a couple rolls with it, I could not imagen shooting without it. As an added bonus the wooden grip fits visually so nicely with the black metal and leather. I really love this camera and its uniqueness.

"Dom-key". Consistently the most enduring value of all the zillions of camera bags I have owned. In the beginning, to buy a bag, you called Jim Domke on the darkroom phone at the Philadelphia inquirer. So, bags by a actual, for-real photographer. Although now the company is owned by some corporate giant, the bags are still the same quality. My oldest still - in - use Domke bag is from, maybe, the second or third batch in 1977 or so. The newest is from 2020.

@@KyleMcDougall I recently scored another 105 2.4 that has an even warm-cast characteristic. Got my first 35 years ago. With a matte box (not a crappy screw-on lens hood) both handle flare beautifully and are tack-sharp! I think the coatings inside yellowed with 5 decade's age. Perfect warming for my outdoor portraiture with Kodak and Fuji transparency films. Used it for decades on outdoor wedding formals. They rock in the shade. No stinking CTOs needed either. They're perfect. both add just the perfect amount of contrast using B&W. Killer with a polarizer for scenic! Also have two warm 55mm f3.5. Like them better than the f4.0. Bad thing, they take 100mm filters. Killed my wallet. Worth every dollar. They get the Arriflex matte box.

This video couldn't have came at a better time. I'm going my research on another Film camera and as I already have the Hasselblad 500CM I have been eyeing up something a bit different than 6x6 format. I don't want to go 645 since well I can just shoot my 6x6 and crop either vertical or horizontal and 6x7 just seems like the winner. The other cameras in this 67 category well the Mamiya I just seems way way over priced and sort of cheap plasticy looking, the RZ67 is just a monster and I'm liking the DSLR feel and look of the Pentax. Currently I'm looking at the 67ii just for the fact that are the newest and a bunch of the older models it's hard to find a nice condition example there is always just one thing that is scuffed up or messed up on it that is a deal breaker. I paid a good penny for my Hasselblad about 5 years ago but it is 100% flawless and I keep it that way. I could probably sell it for a nice profit now with the price inflation of film camera. I plan to keep the 500cm though for a lifetime though. Have you used the 45mm lens for the Pentax? I'm thinking about getting that one, and probably the 105 and I would be set. There are amazing flawless examples of the 67ii going anywhere from 1900-2500 with or without lens depending condition on Ebay. Some are even up to 3,000 with a lens. All of course from Japan.

Hi Kyle, informative video, thank you. I shoot mainly Fuji GFX (100/100S) and Leica’s (M5/M7 and a M10P), but I added a Pentax 67ii - got inspired by starting using Pentax 645 lenses on my Fuji GFX, then your content on the 67ii. Got the camera, it looks like new and absolutely love it. Question: I put the original Pentax lugs on the 67ii and slung the Peakdesign fasteners thru those. Maybe a silly question, but neverthless: are the Pentax lugs 100% reliable in terms of *not* coming off the two metal connectors on the camera?

The price doubles or sometimes ripples in price! Hahahaha! I have seen in the past few months with Covid-19 a surge of prices in the analog community go up in pricing!

Crazy - I can't believe it. I'd like to know what filmstock you're using. I personally would come back for ectachrome 160 and tri-x nothing else would budge me. I also found everything 2.25 and up to be just a clunk compared to 35 (Konica T2/ Canon A1) - but for the price I did end up with a Mamiya twin lens (330 somthing.) But the 645 and the comparable Mamiya looked like a great extension for the artist who needs to do candid and magazine work.

Sold it and finally got the Pentax 67II. Around the same time I also got a Pentax 645N. I also started with the original P645 back in the early 2000s, but didn't choose to keep it. I have a set of lenses for each camera. For 4x5 I have been using a Speed Graphic which is similar to your old Crown Graphic. I felt no reason to upgrade it and still have it. I wish I could get a medium format film scanner, but they cost way too much today. I use an Epson flatbed for that. Im looking into replacing my 35mm film scanner (old one is toast). The one Im looking at now does 10000 dpi with focus capability and 4.2 DMAX.

I have a question about the PENTAX 67 Kyle. I have the 105, 55 and 75 all SMC pentax. For some reason, with the 105 and the 75, when I stop down the aperture in manual mode, it also stops down the lens. So if my lens is at 22, I can't even see what I'm trying to get in focus because it's too dark. The only lens that doesn't stop down is the 55 - I can see a bright screen at all apertures. Do you know why this happens to the 105 and 75 but not the 55? i have to focus wide open and then fix my fstop its pretty annoying. Do you have this issue or is my copy defective? the viewfinder is only bright in all apertures if i ahve the lens in automatic mode once i switch to anything lower than f11 i basically cant see anything in the viewfinder its wayyy too dark.

I own practically every 67 lens Pentax made from 35mm to 400mm which is worth owning today. I've never had any incentive to buy the 105mm. The design is from the mid-1960s and has never been updated. Like almost all 67 lenses, it performs well enough, but nothing special re sharpness or contrast, and at widest apertures is relatively poor. It's on film imaging is inferior to both the 90mm 2.8 and the much newer 100mm. It used to sell used for $125, but is now in the $300 area for all the hype which has surrounded it, so it's a relatively poor value at current prices. So, what's "special"?
