This is gonna sound weird but a month ago YOU got me into film. Now I'm obsessed with it and I've already shot 3 rolls of 35mm! Edit: Serious grainydays vibes. Love the b-roll while you are out shooting mixed with the final result. Btw, those last few shots by the beach were my favourite. The water looked almost oily.

Relatable greetings from Helsinki, where I also struggle trying to understand what frame I meant for mid-reloading 🎉😂 Lovely videos, refreshing to see a self humoured guy making interesting things the human way❤

The imperfection or unpredictability of film is why I like it so much
@S4M33504 ай бұрын
I was thinking this throughout the light leak section. Sometimes its not just the subject thats the focus, but how and why it was captured too. The out of focus, misexposed, light leaked photos tell their own story. They have their own charm. Its like a watermark on the film for that exact moment.

I'm incredibly happy that you've come back to posting. I really like your sense of humor and editing style, no matter if it's a camera repair vid or a vlog. Hope you're gonna upload even more. Cheers

Please never stop making these videos man, it’s all the buzz around cameras and photography enthusiasts and not to mention the neat comedic touch. Plus I’ve gotten into modding cameras and I’ve yet to do my first one which will hopefully be a canon new f 1 with a nice lime green leather replacement. Could you maybe do a video on the canon F1? Your awesome man keep it up

Very nice video. I get the frustration with all those leaks but I think it would be helpful to remind you to stay positive and maybe ditch some of the "whatever" attitude. I'm an older guy and I've been definitely guilty of that. You seem like a caring guy, let it through and let it through your love for analog photography. Top notch photos. Keep up the good work . (Does this count as a shitheel comment?)

The photography guides I read when I was younger said to never change film or have it out in direct sunlight (if they mentioned it at all). I always save my black canisters and put any Fujifilm in them because theirs were translucent. Your light leaks are not necessarily from loading the film but it's a consideration.
@patricknicholsdesign11 ай бұрын
It's a good habit to keep any film out of the light when stored or loading, but historically I have not had any issues doing that with 135. Medium format is a different story. I'm in the process of putting another roll through the camera to test my "fix" and I'm fairly certain the roll will turn out good in terms of light tightness. What I should have done before was take the known good back off my other camera to confirm the issue was not with the light seals, but of course hindsight is 20/20. Thanks for watching.

Great film! Love the commitment and nice captures! Love the white body, such a cool look. Hope your light leaks are now a thing of the past man. Great point about doing the beat we can but being removed in a way. I have a few random camera projects goin on and all I can say is I am having fun doing them, and they may take a while but thats okay. Cheers! 🎉🎉

4:43 looks like a painted turtle 10:43 lmao that was so unexpected, got me good I think as the white minolta weathers corners and edges back down to black it will end up looking pretty cool. Love the sunset colors on the shots near the end. The pastels in some of the nashville shots are nice as well

Honestly i kinda like the light leaked photos u showed, that imperfection adds more interesting 'flair' to the photo. Maybe subjective taste to everyone though

Bro your content is excellent. Love these chill essays. Also, if you could do teardown for every A and F series Canon and all the FD lenses that would be great, as you are the only one on KZbin that films and explains it properly. Thanks. .....k obviously that last part was kind of a joke (but not really) Seriously though your shit is fire.

Very nice, I like the pictures with the light leaks and lens flares, interesting and unpredictable things like that are what I love about film photography. Question if you see this - what don't you like about Kodak film? I've only got back into film photography over the last several months (after not shooting film since high school photography class about 15 years ago, and back then I used whatever bulk black-and-white the teacher had), and haven't shot enough to really develop any preferences for film types, just shot a few rolls of black and white (ilford) and color (kodak), but i have sent each roll to different labs to get developed, so not much control there.
@patricknicholsdesign11 ай бұрын
I'm personally not a huge fan of the magenta bias that most Kodak films have. Fujifilm has stronger blue/green sensitivity curves in its dye layers. It's not that I won't shoot Kodak, it's really just a personal preference. Thanks for watching.

I recently acquired an early Minolta Maxxum 7 (a very early one with the crossed XX), and put a couple of rolls through it as it all seemed to function (I normally shoot manual focus film cameras, but wanted to try one of these, and you can manually set the ISO and everything else). Turns out that early Maxxum had a shutter whose (mylar? plastic?) leaves would jam up on each other at times - but I only found this out when I popped a roll out and found them jammed. So about half the shots were utterly ruined - sorta the ultimate light leak. Shame too, as the camera was unexpectedly nice to handle and control after all these years.
@patricknicholsdesign11 ай бұрын
Yeah unfortunately the vertically traversing focal plane shutters tend fail catastrophically when they do fail. I believe most of them are actually made out of titanium, which is necessary to achieve speeds above 1/1000. Sometimes you can gently nudge the shutter blades back into place (assuming they aren't too bent). The A-Mount lenses for the Maxxum line of cameras are excellent, and you can often find really great deals on them as they're often overlooked for the late model Canon and Nikon alternatives. Thanks for watching, hopefully you have better luck if you decide to give the A-Mount another shot.
