The Denver Broncos have two of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but their journey from college has been as close to polar opposite as possible. While they both played for the University of Kansas, Aqib Talib was a highly touted first round, while Chris Harris wasn’t even drafted nor was he even invited to the combine. In this video breakdown, I analyzed each of their skill-set and discussed how they played in the Denver Broncos’ scheme last season.
What makes both of these defenders so good is their technique in man coverage and how they use their intelligence to aggressively break up passes. This was seen in every week last season and was a big reason why they held top tier wide receivers like Julio Jones, T.Y. Hilton, and DeAndre Hopkins to under 50 receiving yards.
Overall, are Chris Harris and Aqib Talib perfect? No. Does Denver’s pass rush with Shane Ray and Von Miller help them succeed? Obviously, yes. But in my opinion, Harris and Talib negate any obvious weaknesses in this scheme and they form the best cornerback duo in the NFL.
