Lyle Thompson is such a pure talent. The way he creates is beautiful to watch.

9:41 was a goal. I slowed down the playback speed and found a frame where the ball bounces at least a foot inside the net. Musta had crazy spin to bounce backwards like that

Joe Fletcher is one of the best positional defenders-EVER. He was playing against one the best (maybe THE best) attackmen to ever play the game.

9:42 That was a goal lol

I think it hit the Goalie
@Samanticsxtv10 жыл бұрын
It hit Crossbar tho and it came down at an angle and hit right in the middle of the goal and came out because of the rotation of the ball when it hit the turf. The ref started running in like he was gonna call it but he just didn't lol
@udlaxbro228 жыл бұрын
it hit the back of the goalie after it hit the cross bar, then hit off the top of the net and popped out. It was a goal.

crosscheck all day, call it ref!
@lacrossefilmroom10 жыл бұрын
On most of those, what I think you're referencing is a cross-check hold, not a cross-check. If it was going to get called, which it probably isn't against a player who tries to back defenders down like that, it would be a hold, not a cross-check, since it's more equal pressure than it is a check. Rule 6, Section 4 of the NCAA rules: "A.R. 10. May a player use the portion of the handle of his crosse that is between his hands to hold an opponent? RULING: No."
@TC-qx3sb10 жыл бұрын
Lacrosse Film Room I still see it as a penalty. Hold or crosscheck, make players keep their hands together. 1 hand at the butt end and 1 at the throat is now the norm. That combined with pinched heads are ruining the game. Just make the call!!!
@nayr4979 жыл бұрын
+James Simpson Couldn't agree more! This is a call that needs to be made FAR more often. I played college lacrosse as an attackman and a midfielder. When I was growing up, you HAD to have your hands together while pushing back on an attacker. They have simply stopped calling it. So many crosschecks go uncalled as well. Bring back the 21-20 Cuse Hopkins games of the mid-90s! Don't get me started on the stick technology...I'd like to see some of these dudes try playing with a Sam II or a Superlight with a traditional pocket...

I'm with you on all points. I have friends that ref D1 and they just shrug it all off.
@Broctavius7 жыл бұрын
But why? In the game today, offense has so many more advantages with stick technology. And in situations like these, when the player is clearly trying to back into their opponents, there isn't an issue of safety. I'm all for calling cross checks when it's an issue of safety, but I feel that these are not the cases you want to look for.

i would give up valuable field space to great players like lyle or jordan wolfe. He is just a role playing defender and many of those great players he would defend would just shoot around him.
