I've been watching this series over and over again for many years. And I like your deep reflections, especially religious ones, it helps me to look at history and characters even deeper. And your words about Mr. Eko, when you said that Mr. Eco had such a strong faith that the black smoke couldn't do anything to him, and he killed him. These words inspired me. And I also like your bold criticism and reasoning about Mr. Locke, it makes me think and rethink some things. It's interesting to watch the course of your thoughts, and I wonder where they will lead you in the future, whether you will change your mind about the attitude of different characters, it will be interesting to see

Regarding the red flowers, that's actually a ginger flower from a plant found all over the Pacific. It's probably just there because you can find it all around the island, rather than any specific symbolism. Interestingly, Native Hawaiians used those bulbs as a type of shampoo; you can squeeze them over your head and rub the fragrant oil/juice from it through your hair.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think Christian visited Claire's mom in Australia, but Claire's Aunt, her mom was in a comma at that time. (Two for the road)

Everything about this episode is absolute PERFECTION! Ben is 1000% playing chess; a master manipulator who knows exactly how to get people to do what he wants. That reveal of how Locke became a paraplegic is so wild!! One of my favorite “oh sheet” moments of the show, along with his evil dad ending up on the island with him. PEAK LOST RIGHT HERE!

He needs to let the scenes play out. "Because you're in a wheelchair and I'm not" is a top Lost moment. Extremely powerful scene. But he missed the impact of it because of the pause.

I love this show and hes picking up on a lot but its not LOST like this. Iv watched 20 reactions to lost and I can get over people not getting some stuff, but the commentary every 4min is NUTS

Yes lately he is pausing way way too much, in the previous episode he paused a lot to complain about Locke and what we all knew was about to happen. But yes, not letting the scenes play out is taking out a bit, specially because he is trying to explain or predict things that they are about to explain anyway. Sometimes reactors play the "prediction game" way too much, instead of letting the show play itself.

@@ALT·245 I had commented before on other posts he paused 23 times in a 30min span of the show.. Its getting out of control. There is time before and after the video for his feedback. but I agree he's pausing mid sense to guess what happens and its explained 2min later.. This is not how the show was supposed to be watched. Pausing 2-3 times I wouldn't even notice, but in a 40min yt video 20min is him stopping it and trying to figure out whats happened or is gonna happen is infuriating. I want to see people react not break down every word they say.

Locke's father is beyond rotten. Just the worst. It's tragic what happened to John. But I've still got to say that Locke bears some responsibility in what has happened to him. Even after everything that Cooper has done to him... Locke still protected him when visited by the Police. (Also should've been honest with Peter. Poor kid.) John shouldn't have lied to the detectives. If he had just been honest, they would've pursued Cooper themselves. Instead John's obsession with his father led him right into this situation. (Just like how this obsession cost him Helen.) As seen on the screen in Room 23... We are the causes of our own suffering.

When you said Anthony Cooper was evil at the start of this episode, I thought to myself, "You have no idea. Just wait. . ." When Locke asked Ben if he had anything to eat, it reminded me of "You guys got any milk?"

Worst father award goes to Anthony Cooper. 🏆 Ben is terrible, but he’s so funny sometimes 😂 He’s not technically lying in his conversation with Jack even though he knows that Locke is going to blow up the sub.

But so does John. He completely misled Sayid & Kate about his intentions of coming along. It was always self-serving & manipulative. He and Ben are similar in this regard. Ben's just better at it.

Remember earlier this season... when Locke gave a reassuring speech to the camp about finding Jack (and Kate and Sawyer) and bringing him home? Yeah, self-serving. Just like misleading Kate & Sayid into believing he went along to get Jack back. He's not invested in his fellow survivors... unless he needs something to further his journey. Don't get me wrong... it's entertaining as heck to watch John's constant ping-ponging. Terry O'Quinn, along with Michael Emerson, are a masterclass of performance. Their scenes together are god tier. They elevate Lost. But I can appreciate all that and still call Locke out on his self-serving manipulations and hypocrisy. John is honestly not all that different from Ben, in my opinion. He just pretends that his crap doesn't stink, too. Always compelling to watch though. Never a dull moment.

You missed the significance of John saying "because you're in a wheelchair and I'm not", then missed the significance of Ben saying "because I'm in a wheelchair and you're not". The Island has clearly selected John and abandoned Ben. The things John is doing are in the interest of the Island - protecting it from people like Ben who are trying to exploit it. The things Ben is doing are in Ben's interest. He's trying to stop John from usurping his position. How do we know all this? Because Ben's in a wheelchair and John is not. How does Ben know? Because he's in a wheelchair and John is not. And we all knew on first watch that the "magic box" was a metaphor.

Those are great mirrored lines. Love when Lost mirrors things. But all of that isn't necessarily the only way to view what's happening. Ben is certainly deceptive and manipulative... but Locke is often the same. Has the Island selected John and abandoned Ben? I don't think so. I don't think it's that simple. But I agree that Ben is certainly trying to undercut John. And John certainly believes that he's acting in the interest of the island. Though I'm sure Ben believes in what he's doing as well.

It doesn't seem like hatred at all. Why is John above criticism? You can enjoy Locke and still criticize him. See his tragedy, feel for him, but not excuse his every choice. And Locke's not right, not in my book. Maybe in a very broad sense. But he's making choices for everyone based on flip flopping tunnel vision. But just because this is who he needs to be, doesn't make all of his choices laudable.

Ah, Lost... where there's one, and only one, absolute point of the show. Which, let me guess... is that John Locke should be exalted. He's never wrong, nor hypocritical. His faith is never blind. And he should never be held as accountable as other characters. Even though the show emphasizes otherwise.
