The funniest episode of the show by a distance. So many great moments and lines, with great chemistry between everyone at the van.... 'Shut up red...neck man!'

Elie, I just started crying watching your wonderful reaction. It’s been a rough month and a half for me. I just lost my mom a week ago in a short and shocking battle with cancer and this episode has always been my happy place. The song “Shambala” is a song my family band plays all the time and it hits me in the feels so when you have the same reaction, it gives me hope in humanity after a time of big sadness. Bless you, Elie and continue to enjoy your journey through LOST. 👍🏻🙏🏻❤️🎸🎶

"Shambala" 🎵 is about peace and joy. Written and performed by one of the greatest rock bands ever... Three Dog Night. Just happy hippy music with outstanding vocals. Early 70s.

Fun episode. Four humans and a dog in a van. Reminds me of Scooby-doo. Another great team for having fun. And thanks to Roger for the beer. In France, the shotgun seat is called "la place du mort" (the dead man's place). Charlie was the perfect person to sit there, given Desmond's prediction. 😁

One of my top five episodes of the entire show. Easily, and for so many reasons. Firstly, the guys all hanging out together is just too good. And then you've Hurley's mom. She's a hoot fr. But seriously, when Hurley sets his mind to something, it gets done. And it's usually to lift morale. Bottom line, if it's a Hurley ep, you are going to smile. 😊

Big ups to Michael G. for Slowing down Shambala with his version, which is smooth and calming to the soul. Cheech Marin (Cheech and Chong) played Hurley's Dad.

One of my favorite episodes, just pure joy. There was a large group of people that disliked this episode when it aired because it wasn't plot heavy, thankfully most of them have seen the light. Completely agree with you on the 22 episode seasons, I really miss it. Now we get 8-12 eps a season (that typically dont know how to handle the episodic tv structure)and it takes 2+ years to get a season, I HATE it so much!

So true!! We used to really know and care about the characters when it was a 22 episode season. Nowadays we finish a season barely knowing the main character's name!

You are so right about shows missing that special something by being longer each season, and IMO what's gained far outweighs the negatives of "filler". Also we got shows like this (being filmed week to week with full orchestration and on location shoots) releasing yearly, while 8-10 episode seasons take 2-3 years to continue nowadays, if they survive being cancelled. It's a shame 😔

Funny connection with Dave. Hugo's Dad is played by Cheech from Cheech and Chong. And they had a comedy bit where Cheech would play a guy named Dave and he'd be knocking on the doer telling Chong, "it's me, Dave. Let me in" while Chong would keep saying, "no, Dave's not here, man. ". Basically the stoner version of "who's on first". So there's a fun coincidence for you.

The Reyes family gives some inspiration for speculation. For example, the motorcycling, infantile dad (one more Lost bad dad to their kids) might have done a runner for owing money to some people, thinking he'd come back from his Las Vegas 'job' after winning enough. Anyway, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, and maybe he just forgot the time. He did return bc Hurley's mom was worried about Hugo's obsession with the curse, trying to make him stop with all that before he needed another stay in Santa Rosa. His brother Diego has vanished completely, after moving back to their old home since Lisa left him for a waitress. If the show was called 'Soap' (check it out - one of the best parodies of TV, ever), I'd blame alien abduction. David had better hope that Hugo is not driving their car into Grand Canyon now, what with his son's potent curse . . .

This is a fantastic ( and fan-favorite) episode. We needed the feel-good vibes. Now that we are past Jack's tattoos, the show is firing on all cylinders from now 'til the finale. Note 1: The meteorite hitting Mr. Cluck's was mentioned once before. I believe season 2 but it may have been late season 1. I'm too lazy to look it up right now haha. Note 2: Hurley's hired help were named the Trans or Trahns which I believe is either a Filipino or Vietnamese name. JumboTron is the brand name in the US for the giant TV screens in stadiums. I don't think one was supposed to be referencing the other. This episode from a writer's standpoint used expository dialogue in a really good way. It explains where Jack, Michael, and Eko have gone for viewers that may be tuning in for the first time in a while without sounding like word vomit.

Something to think about with Claire’s psychic. When we first saw Eko talking to him and he was telling him he was a fraud, I thought well what does that mean for all of the Claire flashbacks because he seems pretty serious in hers. But after more re-watches of the show I don’t think he’s a fraud because I think the reason he was telling Eko that was because he also had to put EKO on the path to the plane/island and not have him be distracted by this false miracle with his daughter

And please don't take this the wrong way, but in the last episode you referred to Kate as "sloppy seconds". That's very hypocritical of Anyone who has done the deed... And remember, Sawyer got with Ana Lucia first, so he's the real sloppy seconds. Not to mention, it's a term used to demean and objectify women - we shouldn't normalize that.
