You didn’t think we were done with Desmond now did you lol As for this season mirroring season 1 , I feel that scene between Sun and Jack was a great example this episode. It felt like something straight out of season 1. Night time on the beach with a camp fire. Ocean waves and the nice soft score. Discussion between two characters that we’ve come to love the past six seasons.

😮😢 Oh man, I just actually realized what episode of the number we're on, and by God that's depressing. So that this doesn't have to end so soon, I might I recommend that not only reacting to the epilogue, "The New Man In Charge", but also reactions to the library of videos made by the YT channel Lost Explained. I think you'll find the channel very useful, succinct, and well done.

I had similar thoughts about the pacing for the last season returning back to the way it wss in Season 1. I'm actually impressed that you were able to make that observation, coz it was something I realised afterward. After you finish I'll be keen to get your feedback on pacing. I feel season 4 and 5 could have slowed down a little, with 6 speeding up a touch. Also, I think you're right. It's not about the mysteries per se. I mean, that keeps us coming back and makes us think and ponder intellectually, but it's the characters and their development that we connect with emotionally that makes us true fans.

Jack always demonstrates humility when it's required and it stands out on the beach with Sun and her stubborn tomato. It's a call back when he was on the beach comforting Rose, S1. Many don't understand Jack's leadership and transformation. No spoilers but things are gonna pick up on the island. Elie, you are on the home stretch. Note: Many of us have enjoyed your Lost journey. How this show starts and how it ends is what makes LOST special.

You are SO right about the mirroring of season 1. I, and a lot of Losties, feel the same. Jack's character development is absolutely superb. And just in case no one has mentioned it (although I assume many have) but when you get to the finale, make sure to watch the uncut, single episode. There are two versions floating around on some streaming platforms. The edited finale is split up into two 42-minute episodes. It has almost 18 minutes cut out of the Finale that was originally aired. The uncut finale is 104 minutes long.

Great summary Elie of season 6 in general and its comparison to S1. You’re spot on my friend! In my opinion I am glad they did that - it brings the show back to the centre - it feels full circle - S1 and S6 are mirrors as book-ends. Character centric storytelling with some mystery and action thrown in for S1 & S6, and everything in the middle still had an emphasis on character but larger priority on driving the plot forward, exploring the mythos and more high octane action and adventure elements. The show at its core from start to end is a character study and a contemplation on the human condition through a fantasy, Sci-Fi, mystery and adventure lens. Great stuff man!

I think you nailed it in your mini rant… It feels slower and less action packed in some ways, esp compared to the other seasons. Doesn’t make it any less awesome! You’re right that S6 feels way more about the characters 🫶🏻

The map implies Jin located the electromagnetic pockets on the island as a Dharma employee, likely identifying the future site of the Swan Station that crashes his plane to the island, causing him to travel back in time to work for the Dharma initiative, mapping the future site of the Swan Station. Another funny time paradox.
@John_Locke_108
@John_Locke_108 3 сағат бұрын
In the case of the Swan, he wouldn't have actually located it because he already knew it was there. Like when you tell your wife that something is a certain drawer and she says it's not. And than you actually find the thing but instead of saying that you found it, you put in that previous drawer and tell her to look again.

Jack is a pretty cool guy this season. Love laid-back Jack. And thanks for saying, "I've never disliked him." There is still so much Jack hate out there. Yes, he was frustrating at times, but by season 5, he changed and started to figure things out. His character development was one of the best out of all the characters. You are correct in that the whole point of this show is a character study! The stubborn tomato scene is one of my favorite Jack scenes out of the whole series; makes me cry everytime. The Jack/Sun friendship was one of my favorites.

Jack is definitely more mellow since he just decided to roll with destiny and let the island do its thing. The change in him started last season and how he’s a man of faith. My jaw dropped when I first heard him say they were brought here for a reason to Sun in this episode. The old Locke quote from season 2.

In terms of things to watch after the series, I wasn’t too fond of the Missing Pieces, felt like I was just watching deleted scenes. But please watch the Epilogue as it’s only a few mins long and is defo worth it. There’s also the 6 part Lost Explained which is hours and hours of material but in my opinion is absolutely fantastic and sheds light on a lot of things.

I agree with you about this season trying to mirror season 1. I think is the intention. I dont think it works that well. Its like a comparison game. Look this is like season one but with a twist. Lot of callbacks, lots of reference, remember this, remember that, some fanservice. As a viewer in season 1 we didnt know anything about the characters and about that island. Everything was a mistery and a discovery. But in this season we already knew everyone, and they are asking us to care and learn again about the characters we already know but now in a different timeline. For the people who like this season, iam nothing against them, i wish i can like as much too. But I think is the worst one, i rewatched the finale a lot but for me its hard to comeback to another episode, maybe ab aeterno, and another one, but thats it. Kudos to Elie to make this rewatch ton of fun. Iam just being honest about how i felt to watching this back then. Back then every episode felt like a missed opportunity, there were lot of stuff we didnt know yet, and i was thinking cmon go to the important stuff, give me some reveals, "the answers". Now years afters i know that this was a bad approach to this final season thats why in the first episode i comment that this season works more like an epilogue, that the important stuff already past, and the spirit of the season is saying good bye to all the characters that we learned to love during the whole show. Every episode is like an homage of each character and other elements of Lost. Rewatching it, it has some good elements, some nice clues about the conclusion, a couple character moments, like the one with sawyer and kate in that episode, this one had that last moment with jack and sun. ( i totally forgot about that interestellar scene with jin too) but i think the story of this season could be told in 7/8 banger episodes ha. There is no much between the premiere and the finale if you think about it, a cave a lighthouse. I still felt that the flash sideways are more like an interruption for most part of the season. Saying that, the writers are still the same writers and the crew are the same, so there still lot of good stuff in it. Even in a bad episode you can find good moments, good scenes, great lines, great acting, great music, great everything. I just comparing with what came before. I will never consider lost like a waste of time. I think Elie will like where this is going. The good news is from now on this will get some steam

MiB supposedly needs the candidates to leave the island. If it was the candidates that were taken off Ajira 316, and transported into 1977, then it would mean Jin was a candidate, and not Sun...right?

I have already done this rant a couple times in the discord, might as well do it here too.😂 Sun hitting her head and forgetting English is one of my least favorite things this show ever did! Jin and Sun have gotten completely sidelined from the show ever since the Ajira flight. The only lines of dialogue either of them seem to get since Ajira is “Have you seen Jin” “Have you seen Sun”, and now you take away one of their abilities to even talk to another character??? I get they were attempting to flip the script of season 1 with Sun not being able to communicate this time, but at least in S1-4 Jin was able to have an actual purpose while not speaking English, but now neither have anything to do. The show has completely failed these two (great) characters in its final 2 seasons imo.
@SamuelDJCox
@SamuelDJCox 24 минут бұрын
@@macontosh2000 I think this is a fair critique. I think there are several characters which completed their main story arcs earlier than the final season and so the writers had to make some story for them between then and the end of the show. They did give them some story ie Sun and Jin but the main story arc of them healing their broken marriage, having a child together etc was the most compelling. Once that was complete it was more simply an external struggle of them finding each other and less an internal struggle around how to fix their relationship. It’s a solid and fair critique. Overall I think they give them a solid end game but I do agree the latter part of their story on the show feels like a long epilogue from their main and most compelling story in earlier seasons.

I don't think so. It was supposed to be a gift to the CEO of an American company that Mr Paik was trying to butter up. Jin and Sun were already married so if he was gonna kill Jin, he would have already done it before the wedding. That's my assumption.
