I love how the movie title "Cleaver" is a nod from Christopher's first kill on the show, when he offers Emil Kolar drugs on a cleaver and a zoom in of it happens after his body falls over. Such amazing writing.

it's also a nod to when Johnny cuts Mr Satriale's finger off with a cleaver knife. which, provides alot of subtext later on

Elie, I think this epi and Carm’s scene would’ve resonated a little more if you were older than 23. I was 23 in 1999 and I probably wouldn’t have fully “gotten” the raw truthfulness of that scene between married people. That was some brilliant acting and writing. They showed that women remember details about relationships from years back and she also tried appealing to his manhood with the intimate comment. Beyond that, there’s the feeling of growing to detest a family member only for it to be discarded when it looks like they are actually about to go and one realizes the petty shit we all have in our souls when things are normal. Kinda like “don’t know whatcha got til it’s gone”. I didn’t have family members start dying from age and illness until the end of the series. I was 31 and had still yet to feel the pain of losing a sib/parent. The way they portrayed that netherworld T was in was so clever, too. The beacon leading him to his potential going home moment, the dream aspects incorporating what he was seeing/hearing, etc. Meadow’s voice coming from the trees, all of that. The Christan ad/program on the TV in the bar was T having last rites administered to him at bedside. The red stairs down is possibly a ref to Hell. Seems too coincidental not to be when you go back and couple that with Calif wildfires showing on the TV set as T talks to the bartender. I read an interesting fan theory that the bar was purgatory and everyone in there was also dying. Bartender says “Around here? It’s dead…”. The writers put some layers of shit into that whole Finnerty thing. It was like Tony eating a playe of death lasagna. The Asian doctor T saw came thru in the dream as the monks, of course.

It’s kinda ridiculous that season sixA is the only season James and Edie didn’t get Emmy nods. It was mainly due to the new, silly way they were voting that year. But they killed it this season, especially in these first four episodes.

I know you've just started with 'Ozarks' which is terrific but I don't know if you've seen 'Lilyhammer' with Steven Van Zandt (Sil's character) based in Norway. It's an excellent show.

Last season, Sil said “some guys are better as number-two's”. He was refering to Johnny Sack at the time. But as we see in this episode, the statement could also apply to himself.

Tony is not him as in Finnerty but AJ is also not him as in Tony Soprano! AJ’s outbursts do remind me of Tony’s to an extent though. Tony’s dream sequence here is so somber, especially the final part! Poor Sil, he had a damn asthma attack cause the stress, Tony did tell him he has no idea what it’s like to be the boss! 😫😂

The budget for Saw (2004) was actually $1 million to £1.2 million. I don't know what Benny is talking about with the $400,000 figure. Actually, David Chase is going to be directing an untitled horror film for New Line Cinema. Terence Winter is writing the screenplay.

@@gregsgoogle2947 yea I know I'm not talking about the time frame of the show really but more so her true real life appearance. Physically her body and face changed drastically compared to many other characters in the show. The only other person was Vito but his appearance change was due to weight loss so that's understandable. Meadow on the other hand had a substantial physical change over many other people.

@@1ButtonDash Jamie-Lynn Sigler was not well in the final few years of the Sopranos. She was diagnosed with MS in 2002. I don’t know if multiple sclerosis changes someone’s appearance but I would guess the medication used to treat it is highly toxic. She’s lucky to be alive. Btw.... today she looks exactly the same as her final years on the show. She’s drop dead gorgeous. She has a very popular podcast with the actor who played AJ. The were best friends on the show & still are today.

She also had bulimia and would hide bags of barf at home and throw em in dumpsters. Same time, she exercized frantically. She lost too much weight and looked pale and gaunt. Different looking person than the plump dark minx who threw bread at Junior. The show producers gave her the weight complex if i recall correctly. In the post Tracee scene where T tells Mead if anything evwr happened to you, JL was looking quite nourished. The weight loss seemed to happen after that. On the contrary, nearly everyone else came back with 98 pound moles on their asses.

A little background on the 6A hate. This was advertised as the last episodes. It wasn’t until very late that 6B was greenlit. So you had fans waiting 2 years expecting huge payoffs and episode 1 focuses an a very minor character who no one cares about. Then multiple dream sequence episodes which a lot of casuals didn’t like.

I remember that time pretty well, and that’s not how I recall it. I remember being well aware that season 6 was in two parts. And I just looked up a New York Times article from August 11, 2005 announcing as much: “HBO pushes end of Sopranos to 2007.”

I disagree, we all choose and plan what life we’re gonna have before being born in each life, unless it’s something we have to do, live, etc, we just don’t remember it consciously because we don’t need to, we just gotta experience & learn and grow & evolve and do&be the best we can

Her father was right Carmela went at AJ for something he had no control over. A kid having to worry about telling reporters family illegal business is not normal especially when he is trying to deal with his dad being shot. Parents should never expect their children to cover up their wrong doings. Just because they have to put up a fake front doesn't mean they can expect the same of their kids. The kids didn't sign up for that life.

The voice is completely different voice actor. She never comes out in the show and was only used for that episode. They wanted a woman's voice that had zero connection to him and had never been on the show.

You’ve made it through one of the two hurdles to liking this very controversial half-season. The “Kevin Finnerty” plot is hurdle one; hurdle two is upcoming in a few more episodes.
@Retsea
@Retsea 9 ай бұрын
Disagree, the Finnerty plotline is essential to his character in my opinion. Plus that last scene in Join the Club is one of the best endings in the series. Maybe on rewatch the hospital scenes get tedious, but the purgatory scenes are absolute perfection. I completely agree with the hurdle coming pretty soon in 6A though.

No, it's not usually the ladies gossipping. There was plenty of male gossiping when everyone thought Ade went down on Tony. That's your age and gender bias talking. Chris can't spell, and JT will be doing all the writing. All the guys are turning themselves inside out to get the lions share of the money, but the ladies are all about the money? Right. 29:10

Sharp as a fucking cue ball this guy. No for real. You really get everything in the show. Your attentiveness and ability to connect the dots is impressive! About the scene with the house. If you pause at the exact moment before the pilar covers ‘Livias’ face you should be able to see, that it is actually a demonic face with pointy ears, which could indicate that it’s the devil disguised as Livia. Interesting thing is, in another version of the show that split second has been edited out so that you don’t get to see any of the face. Maybe they did that to add a layer of ambiguity, so one could speculate more over if the figure is actually Livia, if Livia is the devil, or the devil is Livia or maybe a fourth. Anyways. Love watching you getting blown away by the show. Have a good one.
