Allen was not making that pass to Shakir. Homie was under fire within a second
@variableization

Completely this. There are at least 3 defenders immediately free. No one immediately and obviously open. This is a failure of play calling and protection. That Allen threw a remotely catchable pass to the TE is borderline inhuman. Whatever the "hot read" was here seemed like a low percentage play, and so does the orbit to Shakir. I'm blaming this play on the Chiefs calling and playing very good defense on 4th and 5 with the game on the line.
@markspack
@markspack 23 сағат бұрын
Play calling was the major issue plus Allen is experienced enough to be able to adjust the protection when everyone in the world knows Spags was gonna be blitzing, the fact that he started running right away tells you they didn’t have a counter for the blitz, if the orbit route to Shakir was the first read then Allen would stood there, took the hit and hit Shakir but it’s not even a guaranteed first down so yeah Joe Brady got out coached by a large margin.

Allen got beat off of tendency. Instead of trying to make a play in the pocket, he ran right into the blitz because Josh always rolls to his right. Only runs left on his sneaks and tush pushes. Allen lost the game for the Bills as much as the coaching staff did. You don't sit your best offensive weapon for almost the entirety of the 4th quarter and expect to win. You don't do the same thing over and over and over again and expect the same results.

I think you missed the major reason why Allen was setting protection to the left, Chris Jones was on the left as an Edge. Do you trust the LT on CJ one-on-one in true passing situation? Hindsight is 20-20, Allen may think he can handle one free rusher, but Spags used the overloaded pressure and CB blitz that fooled Allen.

1:49 The failure in communication here: analyzing in a "comfy swivel chair" what a perfect player should/could have done is a worthwhile exercise and does not equate to judging Josh Allen to be a subpar competitor and quarterback worthy of exceptional blame. Im sure Josh will go through the exercise. TB12 didnt become GOAT by going into film sessions and having BB say, "you know Tom, youve accomplished a lot in this league and we all know you are a ferocious competitor, lets skip on the analysis this week, any breakdown would be nitpicky".

It's simple. The Bills got out coached again by the Chiefs. If Allen would have dropped back straight , he would have thrown it to Shakir. He rolled R cuz they thought Blitz was coming from Left. They moved protection to left. Chiefs came from R . Chess match won by Chiefs coaching staff

yes, josh allen can't read defenses. that's why he's the highest rated post season qb in history. that's why he's regularly throws for 4k and 30+ td a year. thats why he was an mvp candidate. because he can't read defenses. josh allen reads defenses just fine. no one plays a perfect game... wait. josh allen did. ok, one person has played a perfect game in the playoffs against the no.1 defense in the league. outside of that one guy no one plays perfect games in the playoffs. against top defenses and teams. yet somehow josh allen has managed to only throw 4 ints in his whole career in the playoffs against 25 tds, 66% completions, averaging over 250y/g. huh. weird. oh and his sack rate is also the 2nd lowest amungst active nfl player in his career. i thought he couldn't read defenses. for a guy who can't read defenses he sure seems to have a bunch of numbers that seem to indicate he's someone who can read defenses.

Allen is a good QB. But to get past the Chiefs, the Bills need a GREAT QB. What makes a QB great? Well when the defense gets you the ball back, down by only 3 with plenty of time to go win the game? Great QB's go win that game in that situation. Josh Allen never seems to be able to. He just doesn't rise to greatness in those big spots like Mahommes or Brady is known for.

I don't really get this play at all from the Bills perspective. Pre-snap, they have a guy open just looking at the numbers. It gets even better when that corner blitzes. They only need 5 and they have time left. The Chiefs did the same things to the 49ers in the Super Bowl with the corner blitz. The Chiefs are easy to beat if you just notice their patterns and weaknesses. I'm surprised every single year that more teams just don't look at their tape and figure it out.
@jyrlan2596
@jyrlan2596 Күн бұрын
The NFL is in a drought of QBs that can actually read and react to the blitz. There's a reason teams very rarely blitzed brady or manning. You give either of them one on one on the outside and they burn you every time. QBs 10-15 years ago were just built different, and I say that as a relatively young guy

@@jyrlan2596spags won 2 Superbowls blitzing Brady. For the record. Spags is the best Blitzer in the league, give him his flowers. Undoubtedly, blitzing means giving up coverage and making easier completions available, but it also makes the read and the pass much more difficult to make..... Folks with takes like the first one are ignoring the fact that when you're caught by a surprise it takes time to process that and figure out what to do next. Allen was quick about it, far faster than I could ever manage. but half of a second's a long time there for players that are running right at you. All the "should've done this or that instead" talk when a play's breaking down in front of the QB is basically hogwash. OK, I have to state an exception to that for when the QB's under duress and doesn't throw it away to avoid the sack outside of the pocket. There has to be that clock and it can't be running slow that play, but if you're using hindsight and ignoring game vs processing speeds you're going to be talking some nonsense. The way they talk, the must figure that they don't need much space from the car ahead, because if something unexpected happens, they'll read and react correctly instantly, every time. It don't work like that, so don't tailgate until you're in the stadium parking lot.
