Head-scratching play calling from Shanahan in the 3rd quarter. KC defense was tired and Mahomes just threw a pick during the opening drive, yet Kyle opted to not run the ball at all and wear out KC defense even more.

9:43 is what coulda sealed the game. the 9rs get that first down and run the clock out then kick an ez field goal for the win. Purdy didn't even scan the defense. McDuffie was absolutely giving away that he was rushing. his whole body was turned towards the outside gap while he crept up the line. Mahomes woulda saw that immediately and did a quick dump off to Aiyuk who was wide open. Instead, Purdy stays on Jennings and tried to set his feet but didn't have enough time cause McDuffie was already in his face. Purdy's fault there 110%. Chalk it up to inexperience, but that's an ez read and completion for Mahomes that woulda sealed the game.

You guys lost because CMC fumbled, you didn’t run the ball with him in the second half when you had great success in the first, a freak accident on a punt return,and bad defense play calling in the forth and overtime. Great breakdowns, love your vids. I think MVP is the chiefs recruiting and coaching staff. Crazy that they were able draft, acquire and grow what is a somewhat young defense into a team that can perform at the highest levels even on the biggest stage. After watching this game start to finish, I was actually surprised Mahomes had 330 yards passing. It seemed like he was so often under pressure. Comparing SF o-line to KC o-line, it seemed to me like SF was much better. Would be curious what you think.

Just too many mistakes. The 49ers came out strong, and then had the fumble. You cant miss opportunities like that against the Chiefs. I'll armchair quarterback too but this is the truly most embarrassing part of the 49ers from what I can see. They have built up so much of the team, invested heavily in the defense, Deebo, CMC, but against a STRONG Dline, the right side of the Niners Oline seems to bat 300 AT BEST. The fact that Purdy can overcome that and get the ball out is great but without enough time for receivers to get separation you're going to be behind the sticks a lot of the time.

Yet, all these casuals still calling Purdy the weak link this game. Every throw “he missed” was really his offensive line being ass. It’s been one of the worst pass blocking Offensive Lines in the LEAGUE. Purdy, in reality, was one of the best players on the field last night.

Shanahan gets way too much credit as a “genius”, I think he’s a mediocre coach who fails to adjust his play calling. 3 yards in the 3rd QTR says all you need to know. He Choked this game away just like his other 2 SB losses.

Purdy did enough. His teammates especially on special teams robbed him of the win..that missed extra point in particular was critical...as was the punt fumble that gave KC an easy TD. This chiefs D hadn't given up this many points till this point in the playoffs and that TD drive to put up SF late in the 4th was the 1st TD KC had allowed in the 4th qtr for 6 games. The kid did his part,.....their defense and special teams cost them the SB

He had one TD... as a super bowl qb... you think that is doing your part? Really? In a loss? Bro can't make shit happen. His is a position player. And for an elite qb to be a position player is hilarious. Purdy is top15 with the 9ers, top 50 with any other team.

BTW a perfect game for a qb gets you a 158.3. He finished with a rating of 89.3. His completion percentage was almost 10% lower than his season’s average. Almost a third of his yards were thrown to his running back. That was not a Super Bowl victory performance. They are all in this together, that includes Purdy.

Braindead morons in the chat pretending like Brady didn't win his first Super Bowl with less than 150 yards and 1 TD against the hottest offense in the league. Purdy didn't fumble the ball in scoring range. Purdy didn't miss an extra point. Purdy didn't instruct his O-line to leak like a sieve and commit penalties to walk the Niners back. Purdy did well enough to win by leading the team to two go-ahead field goals.
@tonyp3693

👎 What went wrong? It starts with the Chiefs containing CMC. It ends with Purdy handling the blitz like a mediocre QB: 3 for 12 on 3rd downs. The Chiefs put so much efforts and resources into stopping CMC and gave Purdy the chance to win the SB and became MVP, but they knew he won't. The Chiefs have exposed the Niners: Stop CMC and force Purdy to win the game. If more teams adopt this strategy, the Niners' will lose more games. It's easy for a QB to look good surrounded by that much talent on both sides of the ball. It's easy for a QB to look good when his RB is running over everyone and setup his play actions. Purdy became a famous game "MANAGING' QB by handing off to CMC and throwing checkdowns & flat wheel routes. When more is needed from Purdy, the Niners usually lose.

To me…the 49ers on second and four played a little too conservative and scared and maybe Shanahan didn’t fully trust the quarterback I don’t know, but I would’ve passed on that down because the Chiefs don’t know if you’re gonna run or pass and you have better success to pass on that play. As much courage as Shanahan showed on that fourth and he went for it when they ended up getting a touchdown earlier in the game. I thought he turtle up on second and four on the overtime drive you need to go for the kill there.

Tony Romo kept praising Nick Bosa how he would keep contain for Mahomes and prevent him rolling outside the pocket to his right but I saw him several times running all the way around the OT and giving a free rushing lane to Mahomes or at some point even missing an easy sack on Mahomes by taking a wrong angle. He could have been much more effective in this game, Chris Jones played better than him for sure.

The 49ers had the game all but won at the two minute warning in regulation. 3rd and 4, and Shanahan calls a pass instead of leveraging his strength (Williams and Juice blocking for CMC on a run) against the Chief’s relative defensive weakness (#17 against the rush). The incompletion stops the clock, forces a long, meaningless FG try, and hands the ball back to the best QB of his generation and an elite kicker with 1:50 left in the game. Kyle is too risk-averse and is way too comfortable playing for FGs and with small leads. A first down after the two minute warning just about seals a 49ers win.
