@@danlorett2184 how so? I mean let's look at the first 3 plays here. 1st: sacked within 4-5 seconds 2nd: how many times have we seen AR scramble for 10+ yrds? Can't even count. If Bosa didn't dive, AR would've picked up a good amount of yards. Also, he was criticized for not running in last year's NFC game, and now he's being critized for running instead of checking it down... Damned if he does 3rd: He literally has pressure as soon as he drops back, so he would've had to throw it immediately, and who knows if the TE would've even turned around in time Yeah AR deserves partial blame, I'm not saying he doesnt.

double safety blitz, mistook the extra safety #29 for a middle linebacker who cheats over hard during the snap, turns his back to the QB during the throw but is able to flip his hips and relocate the ball quickly and box out Adams from the catch area. One-on-one with adams with a trailing linebacker is a sure throw for Rodgers and that’s what I believe he thought he had. Rodgers has always struggled with accepting the easy yards. Last year was different with Rodgers playing more as a game manager. This comment is gold. When Rodgers was young and could scramble he would make plays out of nothing. It seems there are times where Rodgers is in that same mindset that he can make any play but obviously can't. It's easy to sit in pick his game apart in the playoffs because of the way they fall short, but I know that the shortcomings are not because Rogers is a choker or can't handle the moment .. he has been responsible for some of the most incredible come from behind plays, has upset some top seeds and is on his way to a second MVP in a row fourth overall for Christ's sake.. overall his stats in the playoffs are not that of a loser .. he just can't do everything anymore. He is in the stage of his career where he needs weapons he needs some support, 37 is pretty old in football years. He made some really questionable decisions these past 2 years in some big moments, but the man is an all-time great.. I'm not just saying that because I'm a Packer fan, saying that because I've never seen someone do what he does on a week to week basis like I have with Rodgers. I mean he took some really piss poor teams to the playoffs that most quarterbacks would simply not be able to. Falling short or not what Green Bay has done the past 3 years still very impressive...

Never seen him this rattled as a QB in his career, he changed and completely bailed on the way he played the past two seasons. Let that sink in four seasons 139 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions and all of you people know more about quarterbacking Rodgers !! If I had enough time I would remind you of all the incredible come backs all the incredible passes he made to win playoff games ! You’ll never see another quarterback like Aaron Rodgers !!! That punt doesn't get blocked in Green Bay goes and makes one more stop chances are Packers are moving on. And Rogers had to feel that he had the support he needed from his defense and didn't have to force it or try to do everything. Momentum is a crazy thing though.... When you block a punt and score a touchdown the momentum shift your team gets is just massive and that can really throw a team off. That's when Rogers needed to step up but he didn't get it done, the defense still had a chance to stop them from getting a field goal and they also didn't get it done either. Not that I'm saying they should have been expected to be the shutdown defense they were that game, in crunch time both sides of the ball just didn't get done.

Brady was taking pressure in 2.2 seconds, an almost impossible window of time to throw consistently. Rodgers had time. If you can't get off your read and hit your wide open check down in 3 seconds, who even has tons of open grass to run for the first down, that's 100% on the QB and the QB alone. ALSO, look at the play unfold, the defender for the TE is literally picked by design, so if the first read deep isn't open, the ball should go to the TE IMMEDIATELY, by design. This is why the GB offense had been so successful under LaFleaur, the play designs consistently scheme open receivers. Rodgers basically did what Mahomes did most of the season, trying to play hero ball and missing schemed check downs. The reason Rodgers has been so successful recently is because he bought in to LaFleur's scheme and played within the structure of the offense consistently, taking advantage of the offense the schemed receivers open at the highest rate in the NFL, by far. It seems playoff pressure got to him and he abandoned that this game. Also, I do think Shanahan and LaFleur understand each other's offenses really well, which is why both defences won at a pretty high rate.

No, the difference here is Rodgers is not above punishing anyone who drops a ball. He takes it personally, nevermind the mistakes he makes. But Lazard has come through a lot this season, so no excuse not to throw to Lazard on this play. He had opportunities to get another score or fg and missed them all bc he reverted to his old ways of playing. I don't want to bring his personal life into this, however, Rodgers has cut off his own family for years bc he cannot forgive so is it any wonder this same thing shows up on the field? Rodgers was not throwing as well either. Many passes were low or high in this game and had the intended receivers not compensated to catch the ball, he wouldn't have had the pass rating he ended up with. I am done making excuses for him. I see things clearly after this loss. He isn't good playing clutch in high pressure play off games. He should have wanted to prove he doesn't choke in the playoffs. He can blame special teams if he wants but after dissecting this game, one can no longer blame everyone else for the loss. His arrogance/ego and lack of forgiveness is his Achilles Heel. What's more important to Rodgers, his stats or winning in playoff games to get to the SB? If he had won another SB he would have probably retired or left to play somewhere else bc he reached his legacy goal. Now he has to decide whether to stay in GB. Does he leave, take a bigger risk that he can get to the SB with another team or does he do everything necessary, including a pay cut, to reach SB next season w/ GB. I think losing this game means we have more chance of retaining him. We'll see what he decides.

On top of that, Aaron Rodgers is not great in critical situations. He has 18 4th quarter and OT comebacks. Tannehill has more in his career. Mahomes has 13 and has started for only 4 years. When that blocked punt happened, instead of saying "challenge accepted" he started sulking on the sideline. Joe Burrow got sacked 9 times and still made the big time throw to Ja'Marr Chase to set up the game-winning FG. Matthew Stafford, after his team fumbled the ball 4 times and gave up a 24-point lead, said "we got this" and made the 2 big passes to Cooper Kupp to set up the game-winning FG. Josh Allen, against Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead, marched right down the field and scored with 13 seconds left despite his favorite target, Stefon Diggs, not being open. And, instead of sulking and resenting his defense, Patrick Mahomes accepted the challenge of getting into FG range starting at the 25 yard line with only 13 seconds. All of these QBs showed resilience and an understanding that players and teams are never perfect. Aaron Rodgers does not understand that. He hates when people around him make mistakes and resents his team if they blunder at all. He starts to get safe and make sure he doesn't throw picks or else it would be clear to the viewers that he is choking. He wants people to blame his team and not him. Finally, we are starting to understand a lot of what has happened these past few years in the playoffs is his fault.

I like this explanation. One thing I would add as a person who really doesn't care much for Rodgers is this; why does he get to make mistakes all game and not be held accountable but if some one else makes 1 he gives up on them? Its ego. Maybe quit living in the past and give your future a chance pack fans.

Doesn't matter where it is, I hear the same two explanation as to why Aaron lost the game. 1. Yeah, our special teams blew it, but he's an MVP and should be able to drive us down the field to win. 2. He only scored 10 points (while negating that he put us in position to possibly score twice - Lewis fumble) against Jimmy G (Jimmy G apparently plays defense), he was outplayed blah blah. AR made mistakes as we can see, but ST blew it, the offense wasn't able to make a drive, and the defense failed to stop that final run on 3rd & 7

Guess I'm just jaded at this point, but with Rodgers it's always something, special teams, injuries, defense, etc... This year it's the weather and special teams, nevermind that it was 10-10 with 5 minutes to play and GB has the ball to put the game away, instead went 3 and out, and a busted thumb, banged up, fair weather QB drove his team for the winning score in the same weather conditions. Or last year, when the defense provided 3 Brady picks, and offense had nothing to show for them. Even going back to the 2011 15-1 #1 offensive team, scored only 13 points with 5 minutes in the game. Doesn't matter if the Giants scored 36, they could have won with 21. Next year, lost to Niners. Score was 21-24 at half and ended up scoring only 3 points when it really mattered. Jennings had garbage time TD making it 31-45 with 1 minute on the game, but essentially the offense scored 3 points in the second half!

This is why I mentioned that when Adams is in the game, rodgers keep feeding him the ball. We all know Adams is great, but you have to use him to let other wrs open up. On almost every snap, rodgers first read is Adams and most of the snaps the ball is ment for Adams even if he is open nor not. Rodgers is better by playing street football, where you just throw to an open wr. This lost is definitely Roger's fault. You're consider the best qb to ever play and you couldn't get more than 10 points? He has no one to blame but himself. This is why every playoff lost, he is on the sideline watching because he couldn't keep the drive alive.

But Rodgers messed up bad! I watched the last play, 3rd and long, and saw Lazard opened, and I said that's the game. He would have maybe gone for a TD, but at least a short FG. And the way our D was playing, no way Garopolo could have done anything. And it was appalling when he throws the ball to Adams, double covered 🤦🏻‍♂️. But now, thnx to you I can see how bad AR was in that game. I get it, no time to throw. But he is the Bad Man, he has to make the reads and adjust accordingly. That last play where he throws it deep is not just Rodgers deciding wrong, it's that the Niner D tricked him into making a decision before even looking at his other reads. One of the corners on Devante Adams went in for a blitz, which made Rodgers assume 1 on 1, however they moved someone back to maintain the double coverage. Rodgers was fooled into making a snap decision before he could even bother to consider other reads. Not just a mistake, but being fooled into making it.

I saw the same issues this game as the Packers had all year. Their offensive play calling became very conservative after they got a lead. In most of their games this year they scored their points in the first half and did a lot of punting in the second half. That would have worked this game if they didn’t get unlucky with the punt block. But the play calling with the lead has been super predictable and it leads to a lot of 2nd and longs

The reason Brady could still win SBs all the way into his 40s was because he perfected his ability to get the ball out quickly and checkdown to the nearest open target. Just glad I've been able to watch Brady, Manning and Rodgers whole careers.

One of the few flaws of Rodgers game is he wants to look for the big play instead of taking whats there. Its the main reasons why he held the ball for so long resulting in many sacks the first half of his career. Whats funny (and sad at the same time) is this year, Rodgers was doing the opposite. He was getting the ball out early and taking what the defense gives him. But for some reason, he decided to throw all that in the trash and resort back to lookkng for Adams for the deep ball in the playoffs except for the first series of the game. People can blame the ST all they want but the offense due to Rodgers stunk just as bad. Defense was phenomenal and i feel sorry they had to suffer on the sidelines and watch Rodgers throw the game away. If MLF does not want to get onto his QB for this,then he can walk away with Rodgers.

This is why losing Rodgers sucks and is an opportunity. For whatever reason, Rodgers does not make good decisions in the playoffs. Maybe it was the cold that seized his brain but when you listen to Tony Romo do commentary, you have to believe, that Rodgers is on that same level which means he should be anticipating the open receiver and making the plays.

The halftime adjustment from Lafleur should have been: Always hit the check down. It is now your first read. I'm going to call plays that give you two checkdown reads. Your accuracy at that range will beat their speed. Running backs and tight ends will chip every pass play, then become a read. Forget about the deep ball unless they let Lazard go on a blown coverage, which won't happen because the ball is coming out before he can run 10 yards.

Problem with Rodgers he was not taking what the defense was giving him and also forcing the ball down field when there was nothing there and trying to create plays and ended causing him to get sacked should of had better play design to get the ball out instead of trying to get the big play.

This game was far from an aberration from Rodgers. He's shown lately that if you pressure him early, he starts making bad decisions late in the game. It happened in the 2020 NFC championship game (why didn't he run on that last play), and it happened here. Looking for a reason as to why it happened here on these final drives is kind of missing the point. The truth is that Rodgers just isn't that good of a quarterback. Sure, when teams stupidly play zone, he just runs around in the pocket waiting for someone to become so wide open that he can't possibly screw up the throw. But if teams actually play man to man and double Adams, he has no idea what to do and inevitably either makes a bad throw or takes a bad sack (the result of his final two drives). It's almost as if the 49ers knew he was only looking for Adams on most plays and doubled him regardless of who else was left wide open. And frankly I can't blame them, because they would have won their first matchup too if they had used that strategy at the end. The main reason for the Packers lack of postseason success has been that Rodgers absolutely shrinks when under pressure. And "pressure" does not mean 37 seconds left only needing a field goal and the opposing team is just not going to cover anyone all the way down the field or rush anybody. Pressure is the season is on the line and you're actually experiencing a pass rush. And for the last 11 years and counting, Rodgers has choked when this has happened. From throwing wide to Nelson in the 2014 NFC championship game on goal to go to being down by three scores in every NFC championship appearance since, Rodgers has not remotely risen to any occasion. He's a flim-flam artist who looks good against the Bears, the Lions (sometimes), and the easiest schedules in the league in 2019 and 2020 (and 8th easiest this past season), but looks average at best when a good team actually plays defense. If this was the only time something like this happened in Rodgers career, I might agree that it was just a bad day. But Rodgers has done this kind of thing time and time again over the past decade. If he was as good as everyone says, he'd have beaten somebody besides Jay Cutler in an important game by now. But he's not. His stats were worse this year, and he's only getting older. Say goodbye to your golden boy Green Bay.

You could not be more wrong. No QB has done well against that kind of pass rush. Both of those pass rushes (this year and last year) created a pressure rating of over 35%. The breaking point is thought to be over 31. So ok say Rodgers can’t handle this kind of pass rush well. True. The problem is no one else has ever done well against this kind of rush. Brady could not handle the giants or Broncos, Marino the Bills, Montana the great bear teams, Elway was crushed in 3 Super Bowls by an intense pass rush, etc. the list is almost endless. But instead of recognizing the truth, you just believe the anti-Rodgers bias you want to believe. Do you realize you spoke this nonsense against someone most think is a top 5 QB of all time, and a sure hall of gamer? Honestly, you sounded silly.
@kristinpie
@kristinpie 2 жыл бұрын
@@MB-zz3bg Just because most think something doesn't mean it's right. And just because other QBs have struggled against pressure doesn't mean I'm not right. This guy tried to paint Rodgers' poor play as an aberration, when the truth is this kind of thing happens with him all the time. Maybe not against the Bears, but in the playoffs absolutely. I've had to hear for the past three years how Rodgesr is the best QB in the league and the Packers are Super Bowl favorites and they're definitely going to cruise to the title this year, and every year they choke in the playoffs. This year's version of Rodgers is called the MVP by "most" media members, and yet he went one and done at home against a six seed. The "by far" best QB in the league on "by far" the best team (according to "most" people) couldn't even win a lousy playoff game. I've been criticizing this bum for years as being overrated and that the Packers were not nearly as good as everyone says, and I was right. I was right this year too, despite people like Frank Schwab writing fluff pieces about how great the Packers are and how they're clearly the best team in the league. You and your fellow Packers fans may not like it, but I actually couldn't have been more right these past few years. If Rodgers is as good as everyone says, why has he been to as many Super Bowls as Rex Grossman and only beaten Jay Cutler in the NFC championship game. The defense aren't the ones with the ball in their hands play after play, not throwing to open receivers or forcing bad throws or not running it in from a few yards out. At some point, you and "most" people are going to have to realize that the reason Rodgers hasn't been to more Super Bowls is himself. He's had a lot of opportunities to put teams away and win a lot of these games he's lost, and he's failed time and time again. I don't really care what you and "most" people think. When 21 QBs have more Super Bowl appearances and 12 have more wins, he isn't anywhere near "top 5".

@kristinpie
@kristinpie 2 жыл бұрын
@@MB-zz3bg Well, I guess you would know stupid, based upon the grammar of that reply. Silly me for thinking that the object of the game was to win. Rodgers' W-L record has overall been pretty good, mostly because he gets to play one of the easiest schedules in the league most years. But when it comes down to deciding who the "greats" are, it inevitably comes down to who leads their team to championships. And Rodgers has decidedly been much worse at that than just about every other "hall of fame" quarterback in his generation. He has made poor decisions in his playoff losses that have cost his team the game, and that has to come back to him. I haven't just been judging Rodgers by his record, though. He finished 10th in the league in passing yards, and tied for 4th in passing TDs. He also finished 30th in rushing yards by a QB, if that matters. Statistically speaking, he was worse this year than last in every category except interceptions. So no, I'm just judging him by his abject failure to win when the games matter most despite the media and Packers fans constantly assuring me that Rodgers is the "clear" league MVP year after year. Either by playoff losses or his stats, Rodgers just doesn't measure up.

Excellent review! However, the sub 10* weather and snow kinda predicated short pass plays and more running of the football. Both teams in the first half were dropping passes, the precipitation came in the 2nd half and really eliminated a passing approach.

MLFs system has really benefited Rodgers the past few years in regards to providing him an avenue to regular season production. He can’t really shift around the pocket like he used to and doesn’t/can’t make those crazy off schedule plays as much any more. His arm talent is still great but he’s lost a step as far as his overall mobility goes - and that’s what truly made him special. He’s been felled by some tenacious rushes in the past but I got the sense that he was reverting to his older instincts a bit in this final game and his body couldn’t buy him those extra .5 seconds he would’ve gotten 5-6 years ago.

So here’s something else to consider when asking why Rodgers throws the ball where he throws it. Catch % of targets by player: 72% Adams 71.8%. Cobb 66.7%. Lazard 52.9%. EQ 50.0%. Amari Rodgers 47%. On the 1st play, the defender got “rubbed”, allowing the right-side TE in the flat to run uncovered for 3-4yds. He had a better chance of gaining 1st down yardage, than the other options. It was a far better choice than a sack.

Solid breakdown. You could tell by Rodgers' body language that he was not really interested in throwing to anyone other than Cobb or Adams once one of his receivers dropped a pass in the second quarter. It was all downhill for the offense from there as the receivers weren't getting open in time and or Rodgers was regressing back to a few years ago when he had an all or nothing attitude most of the time. I hate to say it but the greats like Joe, Tom and Payton would take what they were given and Rodgers seemed to refuse to do that more often than not, and never doing that isn't winning football, and in a game where he should have and could have won, this is pretty depressing to me as a Rodgers fan.

To play Rodgers's advocate, he had started his Wind up at 8:50 before Lazard uncovered. Think about what he has seen in his drop back. His number 1 is streaking down the field, while his 2 and 3 are bracketed. Lazard is not open when be goes to make the throw. That CB could have pushed down the center to try to pick off the middle of the field Crossing route. So yeah. Chuck it up to your guy down field. Your best in the league receiver. Against a weak secondary.
