He is, literally, the most clutch quarterback in NFL history thus far. Mahomes is 9-2 or 10-2 in the postseason when trailing by 10 or more, with those two being the second Super Bowl where he was running for his life all game, and the 2018 AFC Championship where he tied the game then didn't touch the field in overtime. He's had one genuinely bad, "we're losing because of you" *half* in his postseason career. Even in the regular season, based on win percentage, the Chiefs would still be a Wild Card team if they started every game down 10 points.

Old guy here. This was a neat video about the clutch moments of Patrick MaHomes. Very well done. I totally agree with your assessment. For the most part, he’s been right on the money with successful big plays. From the start, I could only think of the 2nd half of the playoff game with Cincinnati where it seems he was in a black hole of a total funk. I don’t believe it was all on him. The play calls were terrible, too much passing and not enough runs. If KC gets that FG before halftime, it’s 24-7. If they control the clock with a mixture of run and pass, then score a TD on their opening drive in the 3rd quarter, taking about 7 or 8 minutes off the clock, they go up 31-7. That game is over, and they can pack their bags for the Super Bowl. But for some reason, they didn’t adjust to the bengals defense and KC just went brain dead, allowing them to take the lead. In that final drive, MaHomes was a mess with execution. They started at the Cincinnati 4 yard line with about 1:40 on clock and 2 timeouts. How do you NOT score a TD in that case, with SB on the line? They end up kicking the FG from about the 30 yard line. What a disaster of play calling and execution. Then the bad decision to throw into double coverage in the overtime. Not MaHomes finest moment.
@derekmathews15579 ай бұрын
No it wasn’t. They should have just kicked the field goal at halftime but the fact is he learned from that. It’s okay. But in 18 playoff games he’s won 15 of them.

I think you HAVE to include the Wasp play. If he doesn't connect, they punt, and the game is virtually over. Also, I think the main way to beat him is to keep the game close, and go ahead at the buzzer. If Mahomes's back is to the wall, that's when he's most dangerous.

I think you gotta blow him out. Aside from the bad second half he had against burrow he hasn’t lost a close playoff game when he had a chance to score unlike the overtime loss to brady

The only bad playoff football Mahomes has had is in the the second half of the AFC Championship game in 2021/22. That was the worst he's ever played in the playoffs by far and if they opt to kick the fg before half instead or running a weird play they may still have won anyway. But maybe it was good they lost that game because if they win maybe they don't trade away Tyreek

What this video beautifully shows is that Mahomes has made one play in his playoff career that you could say was crucial to his team losing and that bad play was when we had Tyreek, mahomes relyed to much on him so thats when Mahomes evolved into the lethal Killer that has won back to back superbowls. If that int against the bengals doesnt happen he doesnt win back to back rings. So thank you Cincinnati for all the 3-0 bs now my GOAT has 3 rings and cemented himself as one of the 3 most accomplished QBs in NFL history.

a bit unfair to that excellent play - you can see that the only reason Tyreek gets open is because the route calls him to switch directions once he sees the safety turn.

Not as clutch as everyone makes him out to be great qb but very overrated. The only problem I have with the hype is that I wanna see the dominance y’all see in the form of when I watch a player it’s obvious that the player can’t be stopped and I don’t feel like that watching him I feel like it’s all situational like teams beating themselves not so much him dominating his side of the ball ironically and just as unimpressive as he is kelce actually looks unstoppable cuz every time I look up he wide ahs open 😂… it’s unimpressive becuz it ain’t like he running routes so elusively that he get open but it’s like the defense making a conscious effort to not cover him lmao

Suggestion: Go compare Brady's career stats from before he was 30 to Mahomes' career stats, and then go watch Mahomes' highlight films. 2023 was a very down year for him. It's his *second* year where he *didn't* have over 4500 yards and 35 TDs. As for Kelce... It *is* amazing how he ends up being uncovered. I wonder why he is always wide open... It might have something to do with the time that he spent as a QB learning defenses, but whatever it is, it is very hard to believe that it is a coincidence at this point. As for whether he can be stopped... I'd ask Josh Allen about that.
@ahmertension9 ай бұрын
if he was as dominant as you want him to be, then he would not be in a position where he needs to be clutch. You only have to be clutch when you've let the game get away. One of my favourite things about Mahomes and the Chiefs is that at times it feels like they never really click into top gear until their backs are to the wall, and then they go HAM. They've made 6 AFC Championships in a row and won 3 SBs out of 4, so I'd say that's pretty dominant, while still being loose enough to provide magical comebacks. Rare combo.
