But that's the issue, he is too big - and it's why he only plays half the downs. If he'd drop some weight, he's still be just as good vs the run, except for he might play 75% of defensive snaps instead of 56%. Also he might not be winded and need to be on the sideline when the other team marches down the field and is at the goal line. Vita is a very good player when he's on the field, but if he got in better shape he'd be a lot more valuable since he'd play more snaps, and possibly even become a bit more of a threat as a pass rusher.

Great analysis as usual. Thanks Jackson. Love to see them sign Suh late, as he is a work horse like Vita. Offer 1 mil signing bonus 1.7 mill salary and .5 mil incentive for 5 or more sacks. Bet he'd bite rather than move his family and pay state taxes elsewhere.

But are you a dominant player if you're only playing half of the defensive snaps? That's the issue with Vita. If he'd drop some weight, like 50lbs, and get down to around 330lb (no way he's 350), I think he'd be a much more valuable player. I doubt at 330lb he's getting pushed around, but he'd have a lot more stamina and could actually be in there on the goalline. What I see with him, over and over again, is on key plays he's on the sideline because he's winded. I really do like Vita, but people focus way to much on his few splash plays - yet I can't remember a single time he's made a big tackle on 3rd or 4th and goal, or 4th and 1. Personally I just want him to be out there more, and he should listen to Warren Sapp and drop some weight - not saying get down to 295, just get down to like 330 and he'd be a much more valuable player.

@M M I don't think so, his only 'healthy' year he also played about the same percentage of snaps. The only outlier was in 2020, when he only played just over 4-games, he was in there for 70% of snaps, but that was also a year with a reduced offseason and no preseason. In any case he gets injured quite a bit, which again, could have to do with his weight. Even if you are 'big boned', your body can only take so much punishment. I'm not someone saying he's fat or out of shape, my only point is that if he got down to around 330, I think he'd be an even better player, would be more valuable, would have better stats, etc, because he'd be on the field more. The Bucs have already paid him, so he doesn't need to prove anything at this point, and personally I do wonder about that since guys rarely lose weight as they age, and I don't think it's out of the question he could be approaching 400lbs in a couple of years if he doesn't change things up. Anyways, I just hope we hear that Vita is in fantastic shape and lost weight coming into camp, that would be huge for the team, I believe.

Now imagine Logan hall next to him. Not as strong as vea but who is.. but faster, faster get off,more pass rush moves, and more athletic! This will be the best DT duo in the league no doubt. And with akem hicks? Smh easily the best front 7 in the league! Lavonte/white/vea/hall/hicks/barret/joe 3rd down will be a frenzy!!

And third he did the same stuff in the senior bowl practices who wasn't just D1 or D2 competition. So yea . He going to be a problem

Yeah, I wouldn't even count anything against the Falcons, their dumb offensive lineman had no idea what they should be doing and literally anyone could have made plays against them. Nothing against Vita, you take what the offense gives you, but I don't really consider that a highlight.
