That actually wasn't his last game as a starter because he came to Washington the next season after the Colts.

@@deshaunrockson8945 I guess the knee injury really damaged his mobility. Once he could not pull the Cam Newton BS and team start covering the deep pass, Wentz's hero ball mentality and erratic decision making crippled him.

There was a lot more to the story on Carson Wentz. He never meshed fully with his teammates, and the loud miked-up comment he made about paying the kicker his full game salary if he made the kick and then watching him do it caused quite a stir. That was before the injury. After the torn ACL at the LA Coliseum in 2017 he seemed to lose that elusive quality on the field and there were tons of reports about his inability to take coaching. Peter King had several reports on that issue. He did not fit with the Colts & Frank Reich in Indianapolis for the one year and the Commanders players seemed to prefer Taylor Heinicke at the QB spot much more than Carson Wentz. Something about the guy seems to rub a lot of folks the wrong way. You almost never see an owner come out and publicly disgrace and belittle a player from your team for going 9-8, but Robert Irsay did. Wentz is a very weird story to this day.

Carson was never the same after that hit by Jadaveon Clowney in the playoffs that was brutal physically and mentally. He lost all of his scrambling and playmaking ability

Feel bad for fot the guy. Was a huge fan in 16 and 17. Tough to achieve such highs and then fall to such lows (but i mean, he was still playing in the nfl, so his lows werent *that* low.) Tough situation. Hope he finds happiness in whatever he does next, as a human being.

His mechanics fell apart after his injury year and evidently it was never a high priority of his to get them corrected. Everything somewhat fell apart after that but the wheels truly exploded off the wagon when he choked the Colts out of the playoffs in 2020.

Maybe it’s just Andy Reid, but I really like Wentz as the backup to Mahomes.

Chad Henne's career with the Miami Dolphins probably would be considered, by most, to be unremarkable, but many Chiefs fans remember his playoff performance with the Chiefs fondly. I think there is hope for Carson Wentz.

Wentz ALWAYS held onto the ball entirely too long. Like you said, in 2017 it worked. But I think his biggest problem was mentally. When Philly won the Super Bowl without him at the helm, it really affected him in a negative way. I am a diehard Eagles fan so I know how the fans and the media can be. Our city had been starved for a Super Bowl and the miraculous performance from big Dick Nick, obviously created a bit of a QB controversy in the media. However, I think a lot of people forget that we would not have been the one seed if it weren’t for the amazing play that came from Carson Wentz. But seeing the back up, win the Super Bowl, as well as the Super Bowl MVP really nest with him mentally and he was never the same. I think the combination of him always trying to be Superman, while missing a step or two when coming back from the injury, along with whatever was going through his head from the emotional events leading to the Eagles first Super Bowl Ruined him mentally. Plus, wherever he went, there were rumblings in the locker room that he was not a good leader or a good locker room. Kind of guy. Football is the ultimate team sport and quarterback is the most important position with the most responsibility and pressure. If you’re unable to rally your teammates behind you, it can make things difficult in the long run. Either way, it’s afascinating case study! Great video!

sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone. i was such a wentz hater when he was on his a game and i've gone back and watched film and games since the decline and he was incredible. its a damn shame we're probably naught to see him work his magic again.

Interesting break down. For what ever reason his risky style of play results in too many sacks and turn overs. Sad how it all went down hill after his MPV season.
