another thing worth mentioning about the prank is that before all this, Blue had almost DIED jumping in lava to save a baby piglin. so Green just made his friend most likely relive horrific trauma for a prank. a little detail that really drives this home is that Blue gets a water bucket for his feet to help with the burns, like he knows what to do in that situation. little things like this make me so insane

I think the idea of making Green have actual social media where he was answering the comments was a good move too. It made me emotionally connected to the whole thing, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who experienced this. id like to point out that, in the previous videos of Alan becker (including some of the shorts), green is constantly getting beaten up, or for example in 2 of the music video's, having his 'preformance' ruined by his friends and silverfish respectively (and in the latter, having something he spent possibly days practicing only to get ruined) so if he suddenly get positive feedback, he enjoys it, and wants more of the positivity that he has been robbed of, sending him down the rabbit hole and to the dark side he just wants recognition, and wants to keep it

@AllenTheAnimator004Ай бұрын
I think the creation of Bob, him getting smothered with cake, and a silverfish ruining his performance, is also kinda the animator's fault. You have to acknowledge that someone wouldn't really find this funny as much as others do, especially if you're in the same predicament. Green is treated badly in shorts and in recent episodes and i understand why social media giving him compliments is what made him addicted to it. The only thing for that to stop is if the animator stops torturing their own creations. It's a little thing to ask for, but they'll thank you for that majorly

Have a good relationship with people is very important as I’ve learned. Past four years haven’t really had any positive interactions or good friends so I kept to myself. Finally found someone to be friends with, and began to be addicted to that feeling of friendship. I basically forced myself to control the number of interactions. I learned today that I did the right thing in doing that. Though in those 4 years of loneliness, I’ve also become very intolerant to negativity, to an extreme degree where even the death of the closest person/pet will not phase me. TLDR: get friends who actually care about you, or risk being unable to feel negative emotions.

Pro tip: if you’re suffering from too much dopamine, I HIGHLY recommend taking a day out of every week to avoid any and all forms of dopamine (social media, books, you name it) and just spend your day walking outside. Think about your life or about fun ideas you may have for future projects instead. And, after all that, please… just hang out with the people who love you.

I think the point of what he’s trying to say( this might be wrong) is that instead of looking for the dopamine that feels good in the moment but ends up tearing you apart you should look for an actual source of dopamine that’s nice and will help impact you in a good way in the future. It can be something small like hanging out with friends or family but I swear that brings the most into my life. Especially with a member of my family who is about to go to college in like 2 years is gonna leave a big impact on me. But this is because of all the good things we’ve done together. Find the little things in life that make you happy and won’t make such a bad toll on your life in the future.

Quite true on the façade that many influencers put on, sadly the reality of most influencers, but the dopamine hit and persona they give (the influencers in green’s case) are connected to a psychological level, as correctly correlated dopamine tolerance and the death and rebirth cycle of dopamine hits, true interactions almost always beats inauthentic (online; not real life) interactions. Green faced all of it, some stages if not all of the 7 stages of grief but the acceptance is geared more towards “it was his fault; it’s not too late to fix this” not that his life depended on being perfect as an influencer! That’s the concept of perfection, it truly doesn’t exist. Many poets can tell you that… maybe romantics… for their many renowned works; vaguely for some than other. Ex: William Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet), Nathaniel Hawthorne (Birthmark), etc…

I feel like the message expressed in the series and the analysis of content creation applies to all types of media, youtube and general social media is the most prevalent, but this issue can be seen elsewhere. I write fanfiction, and the constant refreshing once a fic is posted for good comments hits really close for me. While my experience has been pretty positive overall, I can definitely see how it can affect someone more negatively. I mostly write for myself and try to keep it that way, constantly telling myself that if people like it, then thats a bonus. I think in regards to that, that is something to keep in mind. The whole point of these creations, especially starting out, is for your own entertainment, for your own joy and happiness. If people end up liking it as is, then thats a bonus, but if people don't... Well, there's plenty other they can see. A content creator shouldn't be torn down because a few people are unhappy, most of the time they're trolls. People who are genuinely unhappy with certain aspects would leave more detailed 'feedback', unless you can truly gleam something useful from a negative comment, just ignore it. Its harder than it sounds, but its a step in the right direction.

9:32 Anhedonia is exactly the word that was used when I was diagnosed with depression. That's EXACTLY how it works. Things that used to bring you a ton of joy either straight up can't anymore or only do so in extremely fleeting moments. It takes more to get the same outcome. I'm not one to care about internet feedback, but it doesn't matter what the thing is.
