The reality was that historically the Doge of Venice had influence but very little real authority. The council ruled. A lot of this movie is just fiction but not the Doge's weakness.

seen it ,good movie, This a good example how many actor that could not find enough work in Hollywood would go to Rome and find work ,Lex Barker(Tarzan) and Guy Madison in a movie that probably in hollywood would not be cast in. Clint Eastwood became an International actor by going to Rome.

Although there are too many battles and and an over reliance on fight scenes intended to repeatedly save the day, a surprisingly effective film with an otherwise and overall good script and performances, great costumes, and authentic location shooting. In some shot compositions and sequences it reminded me at times of Richard Lester's Three Musketeers.

1:03:55 she's speaking with an accent and tone of voice as if she's some secretary of Joe Biden, the Italian version is much much better, a tone of voice more warm and lovely.
