I love that Hxh did not went “invincible antagonist” with Hisoka. Kastro actually did hurt him and he actually had a chance to beat Hisoka. And logically that’s how it should be, Kastro was 1 win away from floormaster, so it makes sense that he would be challenging for Hisoka. Hisoka mentally breaking Kastro was more impressive to see than if Togashi made him win by just having superior nen skills.

I love how much you enjoying getting into the minds of characters, both here and in other reactions (best example is probably Monster). Just wanna share a personal take on this: everyone can do that to certain degree, but most people aren't aware of how abysmal the difference is between the average and some people. But some people can imagine someone's mind to much more complex degrees and when the characters themselves have been greatly written, this just blows up exponentially. I think that this skill (which uses the same "mental muscles" as stuff like empathy, for example) is usually a byproduct of the conscious and/or unconscious practice of "imagining what someone else is really thinking" that we do throughout our lives, something that can be triggered from any combination of motivations: thougth habits, trauma, neurodivergency, genuine curiosity, insecurities, mental training, etc. If possible, it would be great to hear about your thought process some time, regarding how you feel your mind works when you're trying to understand characters, regardless if it's something unconscious (ie: what goes one in the back of our minds in real time, while we're watching what's happening) or conscious (ie: actively imagining their psyque during your analysis). Thanks for any possible insights. I like to understand how others think, because those references help me to understand my own thought process better. Also, thanks for the great reactions (and looking forward for you to tackle Pluto once you're done with Monster; I'm loving it so far).

I love the excitement both for Hisoka and for the variety of Nen powers displayed so far. There's plenty more of both of those to come and next arc's both a personal and fan favorite so I'm definitely gonna enjoy your reactions to that. But for now, there's still much to learn about Nen and the inevitable Gon vs Hisoka showdown still looms on the horizon. This is about the part where HxH really started to win me over as something special so it's great to see you're digging it too.

Hisoka was always among my top 3 favs.. but this type of episode isn't the one that I enjoy most of him. This was an exposition-heavy type of episode, and even the limited action between the explanation stuff was against a character not many people care for. I'm surprised you didn't question the fact that Hisokas fingers were moving in an arm that was severed and attached by texture surprise. Depending which version of HxH you watch (and which translation bc there were fantranslations back then as well) Hisoka asked Machi at the end of their scene if they want to go eating together OR spend the night together. love that we have the confirmation of him being a part of the Phantomtroupe and in the same episode get that „taken away“ by seeing that he is just playing with them.

Considering Hisoka’s comments on his past regarding the naming of his nen ability and then being followed up by the troupe member saying he doesn’t mention the last and doesn’t care for the past, doesn’t the logic follow that Hisoka’s words on his past, isn’t true and is all fluff? Especially since as you said, Hisoka just wanted to keep her around longer?

Possible but then you never know with Hisoka. Also it's not like her analysis on him is to be fully trusted either. This is HER read on him

@@omaroo01yeah, it’s her read on him. Yet her monologuing that he doesn’t care about the past directing after him reciting his past, should be intentional to the viewer/reader that her words have basis and make you doubt Hisoka’s words.
