I'm not sure I'd even use the term "friends". They definitely help each other out when it's mutually beneficial, but idk if they actually care about each other's well-being. *Spoiler* And in the manga Illumi has joined up with the phantom troupe to find and kill hisoka, so time will tell if he is still working with hisoka even then or has his own selfish interests that he's following. And as you just saw, Illumi is in Hisoka's "toy box"

Tbf, it heavily implied that alluka is some sort of creature from the dark continent, so she really isn't there family, but she has the power to alter reality. Its probably safer to just get rid of her than to keep a creature with godlike powers alive
