7:30, I wished this film was not a reboot, but a continuation of the Mummy Series, as Tom Cruise plays the son or grandson of Jack O'Connell, who at first didn't believe his stories about Mummies coming back to life, until he found the Black Book Of Hamunaptra, and all hell breaks loose. THAT'S the version i want to see. Thanks for the video!! See you later!!

I agree. It should've focused on the Mummy and Cruise's character [especially since this was supposed to be a part of a big universe] with the secret society working like SHIELD in Marvel and Monarch in the monsterverse do, a presence that's always there and glues all the moves together, but isn't a big part of it themselves till the big Avengers-style movie happened.

Yes he was the problem and he even wrecked Stanley Kubrick's last film Eyes Wide Shut according to what R. Lee Ermey said in an interview from 2006. Universal should have gone for either Jason Ritter, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Matthew Lawrence, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Paulo Costanzo, Diego Luna, Eddie Redmayne, Rider Strong, or Justin Long. Because one of those 10 would of had great chemistry with Annabelle Wallis being how they are close to age with her and also there was no need to get that circus midget if The Mummy was going to be female.

Uh, yeah, no. I think you mean Cruise is a talent-LESS actor who fails at action, drama and comedy that put 150% of his effort into taking credit away from people who could shine if he wasn't there. simply put, the movie might actually have been able to come together if they had cast LITERALLY anyone else in his role.
@stainshield
@stainshield 4 жыл бұрын
He is a stale stiff wooden actor who is a one trick pony and the only reason he got were he is today was because of his good looks, because he was that guy every man wanted to be like and that guy every woman wanted to be with. If you saw Stranger things Season 1 where Steve told Nancy that he would take her out for a movie to watch Risky Business to see her crush and in Season 2 Steve was dressed up as Tom Cruise's character from that movie. I am not surprised that Tom Cruise wrecked The Mummy with his ego, because R. Lee Ermey even said that Tom Cruise destroyed Stanley Kubrick's last film Eyes Wide Shut. Universal should have gone for either Jason Ritter, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Paulo Costanzo, Diego Luna, Eddie Redmayne, Matthew Lawrence, Rider Strong, or Justin Long instead of a fucking circus midget like Tommy Boy who is pushing 60. Because one of those 10 would of had better chemistry with Annabelle Wallis being how they are close to age with her, whereas Tom Cruise is old enough to be her father being how she was 1 when he was in Legend with Tim Curry and Top Gun with Val Kilmer. Chemistry is important, that was why Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz did well and also if Universal had gotten one of those 10 actors that I mentioned, neither one of those 10 would have done Sofia Boutella dirty and you wouldn't have heard bring back Brendan Fraser as much. Because think about this, did you hear people say bring back either Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire when Columbia Pictures and Disney Studios cast Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Captain America Civil War for The MCU, not that much and why. Because Tom Holland doesn't carry any baggage with him like Tom Cruise who jumped on a couch during The Oprah Winfrey Show or belongs to a toxic cult.

Could have been so much more. A study in working comedy moments in an otherwise dark film (for the director) would have been The Dark Knight. A study in working horror would have been The Mothman Prophecies. The Mummy was just trying to achieve too many things, and none of them very well. And there was no way audiences were going to like cruise's character: conniving, lying, untrustworthy, selfish. Nearly everyone avoids people like that.

I enjoy the movie but only because I look at it like a witch movie and not a mummy remake if that makes sense and it would've been SO much better if Ahmanet succeeded in turning nick "evil" and into SET's vessel, they could maybe save the idea of a mummy remake franchise is they go that route In a sequel where other witches bring Ahmanet back/restore her vessel and powers in order to get revenge on nick/set for betraying her and in that way she'll be an actual villain rather than a tool to set up the dark universe etc

They should have never casted Tom Cruise, and changed the gender of the Mummy.

The gender of The Mummy wasn't the problem, because look at Doctor Strange. Disney cast a British Woman for the role of The Ancient One, when they could have gone for a Chinese Man. I thought that Sofia Boutella was perfect for the role, I do agree with what you said about casting Tom Cruise. Because he was the problem being how he changed the script and changed it from horror to action as well as making it all him, The Mummy wasn't the first film that he wrecked with his ego, according to R. Lee Ermey it was Stanley Kubrick's last film Eyes Wide Shut.

stainshield the female mummy was the problem, she was too over sexualized, having her tied up for most of the movie as some type of sexual innuendo, they would have never done that with a guy, she wasn’t even believable as a threat because of how they treated her or wrote her role, if it was a guy mummy, just like the Brandon Frasier one, it would have been more fist to fist instead of every time Tom Cruise ran into the female mommy it’s something sexy like she’s lusting after him or something, Brandon Fraser was a handsome guy but he’s never known for being handsome like Tom Cruise in the public eye, so casting him was like more focusing on the character personality and traits as for Tom Cruise is just a handsome guy getting another lead role in a big franchise movie. The movie felt it was Mission Impossible: The Mummy.

stainshield it’s was an amazing concept having a female mummy but the way Hollywood is ran, shes gonna be used as a sexual gimmick.

Those are the smallest detriments to this movie. Cruise was over-involved in production/direction (as is obvious here and there) and was likely his demand for his involvement at all. It felt disjointed, distracted, and just plain boring.

@@dylanmijer2890 that is true and what they should have done was make her scary like Ash's sister from Evil Dead, Jason's Mother from Friday The 13th, Rose The Hat from Doctor Sleep, or Valak from The Nun. Also if I was in charge of it, I wouldn't go for Tom Cruise, I would have gone for either Jason Ritter, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Paulo Costanzo, Diego Luna, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Matthew Lawrence, Eddie Redmayne, Rider Strong, or Justin Long. Yes you are right about Hollywood being sexist, because when a woman reaches a certain age, they kick them to the curve and yet they give these guys who are old enough to be somebody's father or grandfather big roles in big budget movies, whereas the women that got get kicked to the curve are in low budget films or TV. Like Tom Savini, Stephen King, and Wes Craven said, women shouldn't be seen as eye candy, they should be seen as strong as seen in their books and movies. Well we know with Wes Craven he made Heather Langenkamp and Neve Campbell strong willed women in his films A Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream, Tom Savini made Patricia Tallman's Barbara from Night Of The Living Dead 1990 was strong and tough unlike Judith O'Dea's Barbara who lost her mind in Night Of The Living Dead 1968, or in King's novel Cujo with Donna Trenton who was portrayed by Dee Wallace Stone in the 1983 movie became tough. What I am saying is that they should have made Annabelle Wallis' character a strong willed woman and Sofia Boutella should have been scary, yet the caste system in Hollywood prevented it from happening.

What you should do is do a video on another film Tom Cruise was in, The Last Samurai(2003). I really enjoyed watching that one and as some real life facts to it, except his character never existed.

The Tom Cruise Mummy version didn’t work because story wise it was all over the place, especially with the scenes of the dead friend ghost from American Werewolf in London, the romance hinting of Romancing the Stone, Marvel’s Avenger Universe added on, to much Mission Impossible action but not enough Universal’s signature monster scares. Trying to make Universal’s monsters into antiheroes is a big mistake in my opinion. What makes fan favorites Fredy Kruger (nightmare on elm street), Mike Myers (Halloween), Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) and Chucky from Child’s Play so entertaining is how evil they are. Take note Universal, the Hammer films did, lol.

An SCP-like scenario is what the Dark Universe needed. Let the movies play out, and then Prodigium comes in and cleans up. That’s it. Don’t have them lead into each other like Marvel does. Have them barely acknowledge the events of each other, with Prodigium being the thread that builds a story. Then make a stand-alone Prodigium movie where they take on Dracustein or the Wolfmummy or smthn
