Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2dAercv
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2dUWP8h--
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post - amzn.to/2e2AVVt
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2dFuPZg
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2dApDpp
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2fzEYE1

I always reread 'Writing for Emotional Impact' again every time I write another screenplay and it always pays off.

25:00 to 26:30 - I can SO relate. I prefer eating alone unless my company is an unconditional friend not faux friends or acquaintances I know either don't really care or are just there for me to pick up the bill. I just take my laptop and make it an away-from-home writing night. As for movies... forget it, I go ALONE and prefer that way lol, unless my company is the type that doesn't talk much during the movie.

I like doing things on my own - dine, watch movies, visit museums, pass time at the park, etc. (at least before the bug) and it's sad to find out there are places in the world where even that is frowned upon. I can imagine how hard it is If you're someone insecure about not having people you can hang out with and knowing people giving you the stink eye for being alone wherever you go. That's just super sad.

You have to put your butt in your chair and start writing: get paid or not. How great! That's the best tip of all; the number 20.

From what I’ve read, mirror neurons don’t fire the same on a screen. It is when we see it in real life. I can’t remember the book.

no need to write master pieces. no need. if you can entertain, you are a successful writer. routine is key, formula is key. know what those are, you are off writing. of course, write all the time. truth: don't be afraid of formula, formula is a way to bring you out.

This guy read Brian McDonald's book "Invisible Ink" or attended his lectures at Pixar. Brian is The Guy to interview on this channel.

Or maybe...Brian read this guy's book "Writing for Emotional Impact." I've also read "invisible Ink" and it's equally excellent. Both are speaking the truth about storytelling.

That's odd, 'cause years ago, I saw them both together on stage at a Screenwriters World panel in L.A. In fact, that's what made me buy both their books at the same time. Since you seem to know Brian personally, maybe you should refresh his memory.

Karl?! I had to double-check if my comments were coming up as Anonymous? Nope. Clearly spelled. Anyway, this is getting pointless. Bottom-Line: Who cares if Brian can't remember Karl?! Over and out. Peace!

Star Wars and Lion King are the same movie. Disney just ripped off Star Wars. Haha! Disney built an "orphan" hero in Simba. Then he was mentored by wise man. That after meeting two side kicks ( Pumba and Simon ). Then he meets his princess by accident. He then had to fight for his kingdom.

Funny he says being alone is frowned upon in Western society. I have lived in non-Western societies for the last 20+ years, and it is even less acceptable here. In the West, being alone is more acceptable. Anyway, good talk, nevertheless.
