That is really eye opening, if you are have a hard time with a part of the story, just back track and walk through the story to find out whats wrong/right with the part you want/need to change. great video. very eye opening.

Do these guys actually live and work in L.A.? And in the movie business to boot?! Everything they are saying makes complete sense, but is, in my experience, the complete antithesis of most film projects...especially today, where studios are making "risk-free" movies. Where can I find MORE people like this; smart, thoughtful, creative, COLLABORATIVE people. These guys ROCK! Thanks a lot Film Courage!!

Great to see you enjoying the videos with Michael and Mark. Yes, both of them are based in LA. Mark mentioned a few times during our interview that he works quite a bit in Europe.

Makes sense, it's more a European approach to filmmaking, but even here it's not that hard to find people completely unaware of what their projects are about. I say this all the times, what is it all about? What do we want to tell? Why are we even here pursuing this project? What pushed the writer to write about this very particular thing? That's the most important thing to understand, be aware and share with the whole production. Great interview.

We agree. Can't wait to compile our full interview into 1 video (or more likely two videos since we have over 3 hours of footage with Michael and Mark).

I am busy writing my first non-fiction book and this video and many of the other videos that you have uploaded by Michael Hauge and others is so value in helping me understand what the book must include regarding principles that cause people to get emotionally hooked and part of the book where they want to know more, thank you so much for uploading these videos here it is much appreciated

I like what the guy said about a perfect script and 200 people watch it, and what was the take away! Loved that part! Leave the audience questioning something, the theme of the movie and etc

Listening to Mark’s humility as a director is a wonderful example for collaborators.

I LOVE hearing these two talk. When will you upload the rest of the videos?

Timothy, we love to hear it! This is the third video segment we have posted with Michael & Mark. The good news is that we easily have over 2 hours of these guys talking story, writing, directing etc. So there is a lot more in this terrific series that we can't wait to share. We don't have an exact answer on release times. We'd probably say expect a new video every week or so and in some cases there maybe two in a week.

Film Courage Thank you for such a quick reply! I'm subscribed to you guys for a reason. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

Timothy Creed Thanks Timothy. What these guys have to share is worth the subscription by itself : ) To expand on what we wrote above, this series broke our previous record for our longest interview. We're lucky that Mark & Michael were so generous.

How insightful! This is one to watch over again. "What'the story REALLY about?" I guess that's the crux of screenwriting. Of course a lot of (most?) films are instantly forgettable. But to ask, "What is the audience talking about on the way home?" really nails it. Most films don't elicit more than, "What did you think?" "It was OK".

3:55 - Am I fighting for the character or for a specific choice I made? Hmmm, interesting distinction.

i dont know if i have walked out after a movie thinking about one big idea...well the only time that has happened was when i saw the adjustment bureau which is one of my favourite movies but normally i walk out thinking a scene, the photography or the music

Mike is pretty concise and helpful. Mark kind of rambles around his ego. Just my thoughts.
