Very enlightening. I'm so excited to pitch my screenplay I would definitely have pitched it without a copyright. I'm getting a copyright!
@screenname12 жыл бұрын
If you get a copyright (which you already have -- having written the work yourself), you will be paying to share your work with people who could sell the idea to Hollywood. Then there's no point in pitching your script. They have paid readers who read registered works. These paid readers can do whatever they want with the information. You are much better off getting the work converted into a book or graphic novel and self-publishing it. If it is successful, you will get inquiries from Hollywood. You will also be protected properly, having published work, being the first to publish your ideas, and having a natural copyright in place, without handing your work to professional readers. In many ways, though, none of this matters, because anyone who has ideas worth anything will be smart enough to avoid paying to hand those ideas over for nothing in return.

I had such a great idea and no help. And a fire burning under me. Then, my life came crashing down. I was evicted from my apartment so the owner can give it to her daughter. At the time my current girlfriend wasn't supportive. She's just not good at things like that. Not being supportive, not being sweet and understanding. She just doesn't have that in her. I needed a place to live and I didn't want to live with any relatives. So she and I bought a condo in the Chicago suburbs. Everything was okay and within 6 months or less I found a good job for myself working with the airport and the airlines. I tried to write the third act but I was unfocused and couldn't concentrate so I put it away. And then Covid hit and I lost my job. Things started to get worse as my gf became engulfed in her own job. Working from home now. Her stress was dumped on me just about 7 days a week for many, many months. We did some nice things like short trips and going to our local nature center as well as the zoo and ordering food out to go and just trying to stay happy and busy. Thankfully we lived in a very, very beautiful town. By the beginning of July I knew there was no turning back from the negativity and the resentment and the hurt and the disrespect and everything else she threw at me and believe it or not everyone, believe it or not, I returned none of that ill feeling towards her. I remained kind and gentle and even more loving and accepting. I've never been more selfless . She had a difficult job and it required a lot of energy and brain power. Basically 7 days a week. She worked every day every week and every month for a long time and just frequently unloaded on me and my anxiety began to build and be too much to keep inside and it was all coming out. One day it was too much and I told her I have to go. So I moved back alone to Los Angeles. That was a mistake too, but at least I have family here. Immediately I fell into depression. Moderate Depression to be exact. Its been 1 year and I haven't written a word. Within 2 weeks I had characters, a story, begining and middle. In 3 years with her I wasn't able to write one last act. And I blame her for it. She never said "I'd love to read it" , "do you need help?". So I'm reaching you all. You are here because you want to succeed. At least there's one person who wants you to do it. ✌️

Love the no excuses narrative. It's true, sometimes you have to create your own opportunities. I was watching an agent roundtable last night. They said basically the same thing. If you're waiting and reaching out cold to people for someone to notice you. You're already losing. You want to be in a position where people are actively reaching out to you. Sounds counterintuitive. In a way it is. In a way you shouldn't have to. Because most are trying to be employed rather than be the employer. It's the entrepreneur mindset. Make it yourself. You have to create your own job. That's the way things are going. Hustle culture has infected art for better or worse. Which unfortunately makes a brutal business barbaric. We have to adapt.
@Nubbe9992 жыл бұрын
The problem is that everyone got stories to tell even people that are not interested in being in the film industry so there is no lack of ideas. So if you want something done you need people to help you, money or pure luck. I have none of them and most of us will never get further, it doesn't matter how good or bad your script is if you can't find investors and the help you need. If you had the money to make a film and some random person came to you and said he only needs a few million dollars to make a move would you give it to him? probably not without knowing him.
@GeorgiaMade4042 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you’re already defeated with that mindset. Why not rent a camera and see what you can come up with? Spend a couple of thousand to make something. Of course it’ll come out crappy but somebody will be willing to watch and take a chance on your next try. That’s better than sitting around being negative. This is what he’s saying. Stop sitting around waiting, take action!

For a fee, you can register your script with the U.S. Copyright office (depending on where you are). Just make sure that if you do that, you register it as a screenplay and not a novel. I hope this was helpful.

But one is a girl tribrid named Hope Mikaelson the other the boy who lived wizard Harry Potter. It's the same ideas but the expression is trademarked. So remember that.

We do have to be more than one thing, we got to have several occupations. I want to be a screenwriter, author, film producer, and police officer, and I want to be a correctional officer working at a prison. But the main job that's going to give me a problem is film producing because it cost so much money to make a movie it's unbelievable. Now with the police I just have to be able to do 50 push-ups and with the correction officer working at a prison they don't... I'm sorry but they don't make enough. I can't be trying to stop a prison riot only making $18/hr. Prison riots are very dangerous those inmates be making knives attacking those correction officers they also work 15 hours and be on there feet all day watching inmates I want even have time to write a screenplay less known make a movie so I'll be a police officer and secretly write my screenplays and let no one know my creative art will remain private from my police work.

The reason why I decided not to become a correctional officer is because they don't make enough money police officers make more and it's kinda safer than being a CO is more dangerous sometimes inmates kill correction officers. But I'm not giving up on screenwriting, filmmaker, and author because being your own boss and making a lot of money is the best. But police officer will pay my bills as of right now because I do have bills to pay.
