Opening titles of 25th HOUR (2002)

The stunning opening titles of Spike Lee's film 25th HOUR (2002) which captured a place and time after 9/11.
It was shot in the period when the 'Tribute in Light' art installation of 88 searchlights was first placed next to the site of the World Trade Center to create two vertical columns of light in remembrance of the September 11 attacks.

The guts it took to put a film out there that made people remember the horrors of the attack on the WTC complex when there was a God awful movement to remove their image from memory. Even then, the arrogance of those who lived, acting as if 9/11 was a trifling inconvenience. Too many lives were intertwined with that day. For Spike Lee to open that great film with an open wound on our city was majestic. Meanwhile, Ben Stiller was quick to pull ZOOLANDER from early theater releases so that shots of The Twin Towers could be edited out. 25th HOUR and CITY BY THE SEA were great post-9/11 tributes to our great city. At least DeNiro left them in his film. Apologies to those reading this as some on-line rant. When you come upon the 20th anniversary of 9/11, having grown up in The Bronx, seeing those buildings fall.... my God. The loss of life bothered me more than the loss of the Towers.
