I’m 23 and I proudly say that i only listen to songs from 50’s and 60’s magical era. All credits to my legendary father who made me understand what’s good and what’s bad. He’s no more he left me too early but his preachings and the time I’ve spent with him has only made me a gentleman. And loving and listening to such legendary melodies from the past 10 years when i was 13 is one of the many reasons that my father was a legend indeed. May he attain highest place in heaven ameen

Prabal Ghosh There are tonnes of very old folk songs reused all over the world. The origin of most of those folk songs is unknown. That doesn't make them "stolen". The producers back then didn't give references. Other than that, it's an excellent rendition of that song... much better than the legal remakes (or botcheries) that they do of the 90s songs these days.

As I understand, Mukesh left his singing career and went for acting. Acting flopped and in 1958, he was financially broke. Then Salil Choudhury requested Mukesh to sing songs for Madhumati. Mukesh agreed because he needed the money. The rest is history. Mukesh went into the stratosphere with his Madhumati songs. Mukesh is a legend in Hindi songs.

I have listened to the Polish folk song "Szala Dzieweczka" many times by various folk groups and listened to the famous Salil Chowdhury song. In my opinion, Salil Chowdhury has taken the beginning of the song and built on his additional music that followed. Tchaikovsky's brother in his memoir narrated that three blind women used to begging with a song as they walked in front of their house. One day he noticed Tchaikovsky humming that tune . He continued humming the tune for quite some days. Later he found how his brother has used that tune in his famous Piano Concerto No 1 In another instance, Salil Chowdhury composed a Bengali song "Oi je sabuj bon bithika" sung by Madhuri Chattopadhyay in 1967,In the interlude he has used a small part of Beethoven's 5th Symphony very effectively. Whenever I listened, I admire how he has effectively used that in his composition. .I can give further instances, but hope I have made my point clear.

Greatest is a too inferior word to describe the legacy of the most talented actor named Dilip Kumar . So many artists had gone but tears actually flowed from my eyes on the departure of Dilip Kumar sahab . Never a day went after 7 July that I didn't miss this man whom I even consider my role model . Today , he is physically no more with us but mentally & morally , he shall be always remembered terribly by his fans . Besides being a great artist , Dilip Kumar sahab had been a very humble & great human being , contributing towards the welfare of the society , doing many charities as possible as well as many other humanitarian works . Even when this film 'Madhumati (1958)' went out of budget , then Dilip Kumar sahab reduced ₹70,000 of his fees & also influenced the distributors to help Bimal Roy sahab in the same who was the film's producer & director . This shows what Dilip Kumar sahab was as a person . He was , is & shall always remain my most most favourite actor among all . I consider him a role model from many walks of life . Thank you so much for uploading this lovely video on the greatness of Dilip Kumar sahab . The legacy he had left behind can never be surpassed by a second artist . There will be only Dilip Kumar sahab . Dilip Kumar sahab was , is & shall always remain one . I consider him not one of but the greatest artist of Bollywood . May his soul rests in peace . 🎶🎵❤👍🙏🤲💐

I am 88, and a Panjabi. i wonder if people listening to this song realize why there are so many love songs in Bollywood. It is because in the Indian tradition, touching (Even handshake), and kissing are not allowed by tradition. No public show of affection is considered polite. As a result a lot of creative art has developed to replicate that. Says more than any kiss would say. Naresh Vasishth

The magic of the yesteryear's, all of them are artists par excellence, note the simplicity in the music and the lyrics. The effortless performance by the uncomparable Dilip saheb and Vyjiantimalaji, this is music for the soul truly, soothes the mind and body both.

Fantastike !!! Bravo !!! Great evergreen song composed by Salil da and rendered by Lataji and Mukesh ji, written by Sailendra ji. Even the tune is improvisation of a polish composition, but still the credit goes to salilda for 'naqal me bhi akal ka istemal'. Nostalgia..........

If you're a keen listener then you should have notice that Lata ji outperforms Mukesh ji in holding breath... how? Mukesh & Lata ji had equal parts, equal time, same composition but only different lyrics. In Mukesh ji's 2nd stanza 0:52, he sang and took a breath after each line; "/Tu nahi to ye bahar kya bahar hai/ /Gul nahi khile ke tera intezar hai/ /Tu nahi to ye bahar kya bahar hai/ /Gul nahi khile ke tera intezar hai/" But in Lata ji's turn when singing 2nd stanza 1:54, she didn't take a breath and merged 2nd and 3rd line; "/Tumse meri Zindagi ka ye singar hai/ /Ji rahi hu me ke mujko tumse pyar haiiiii...(continued)...Tumse meri Zindagi ka ye singar hai/ /Ji rahi hu me ke mujko tumse pyar Hai/" And not to forget her continuous "आaaaa...aaa...aa.a.a" without taking a breath. What fascinates me that we cannot even hear her struggling or even a breath on mic. Today's singers don't have such good breath control as we could hear their breath even if bgm is loud. I've listened to every covers of this song but none did it as Lata ji did. This minutely big things makes her great and different from others🙏🏼❤️
