I agree, this movie is ripe for a sequel even after so many years. There is sooo many ways they could go with this. They call this a Christmas movie but it really isn’t a Christmas movie at all other then the fact it was suppose to be made around Christmas. Hardly any Christmas music in it to speak of as well as Christmas trees or decorations or any mention of Christmas at all. No Christmas Shopping to speak of either. England has such beautiful Carols and they didn’t play one of them. It’s a shame they didn’t take advantage of that and play some England’s beautiful Carols. But yes! I would love to see a sequel of this. If nothing else but to see the entire cast together again, if it can be done. As Cameron Diez is now married with a young child or baby girl. Can’t remember how old she is.

they still make romcoms, but they're usually the cheap hallmark/lifetime kind - not the big blockbuster ones like this (apart from maybe Anyone But You recently). its a shame as Netflix was going to make a new Nancy Meyers movie not long ago but ended up dropping it due to budget issues.

I saw a Nancy Meyers interview recently, and she said that she has been asked to do a sequel to The Holiday. She said it’s fine the way it is. I thought about for a moment and agreed. This movie doesn’t need a sequel. It stands on its own perfectly.

I love the music score too. The scene where Cameron Diaz is running back to the cottage with the music playing is perfect. I love references to Jaws theme tune and Mrs Robinson with a cameo of Dustin Hoffman in the music store is sheer brilliance. My favourite character in the film is Arthur Abbot. Elizabeth Wallach is perfect in the role.

18 years later, this has become one of my favorite films of all time. The score alone is just beautiful. But the fact it has grown to become a staple of the Christmas season is what truly makes it special. As a nobody actor myself, I dream of playing a role or being in a film like this. Next Christmas when you watch this movie once again. Take notice how perfectly timed the music is with the emotions and timing of the scenes. The one that is absolute perfection? When Gram looks for Amanda in the pub, doesn't see her and goes to join his friends. Then the waitress moves and there she is. Two of the most beautiful people while beautifully lit doesn't hurt of course. Wish Meyers would get back in the game. We need another Holiday movie to cherish.

I worked near a lot of the English locations , Godalming, Shere etc. beautiful countryside.. and it brought The Killers Mr Brightside to a new audience..PS the cottage , Honeysuckle Cottage, which was the inspiration for the cottage in the film is for rent on ArBNB ..

@@spirituallysafe Shere , near Guildford, Surrey England , is a lovely little village where The Holiday was filmed and has lovely gift shops , a couple of pubs and and stream running through it . The lovely little cottage where Cameron stayed was only built for the film set, and now doesn’t exist. There is a Gin distillery ( The Silent Pool) where you can visit just up the road from Shere and a few other nice towns nearby….including Godalming where Cameron drives the car through the narrow streets…
