One of my favorite movies. Watched it when I was a kid at the drive-in when it came out in July of 84. Still watch it today. Man the 70's & 80's was great. Think I still have the NES game.

People did not realize that the last starfighter revealed a future technology as well as clones. That future technology, the touchscreen cellphone when they were on the gunstar. He was showing pics of his family on it. This movie was way ahead of its time.

What an amazing piece of history in regards to 3d rendering, cinematic computer graphics. I hope every fan of cinema gets to view this and make these important connections. Computer graphics and rendering in relation to the super computers of the past. Funny to imagine that our graphics card would be hundreds or even millions of times faster then these historic machines is humbling to imagine.. Those same graphics cards are now driving the future of AI as well. AI the Cray is like your Grandpa

I know there has been a spark of interest in reviving this as either a sequel with his brother or a new standalone. Wonder what is happening with that now. We might be far enough away from things like Ready Player One now that it could stand to generate some buzz.

Kurt and Wyatt Russell are trying to get the rights for the movie as they are interested in doing a reboot. Problem is the owner of the rights to the movie is refusing to sell them. We'll see who wins out. I'd love to see a reboot, the CGI alone would be epic.
