The Pianist is a biographical war film released in 2002, based on the autobiography of Polish Jewish pianist Władysław Spielman. The story follows Spielmann's experiences in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II.
The plot centers on how Spielman struggled to survive in Nazi-occupied Poland. Spielman and his family were forced to live in the Warsaw ghetto, but eventually the family was sent to a concentration camp. Spielmann manages to escape and hides in the ruins of Warsaw, experiencing extreme hunger, cold and loneliness. Eventually, he was helped by a German officer and was able to survive.
This movie not only shows the cruelty of war and the struggle of humanity, but also expresses the perseverance and hope for life through Spielman's music.
