I dismissed the “Dune guy” Chalamet as another teen heartthrob when I first saw him in the media long back. He kept popping up in great roles though, and heard great feedback on his performances. Started watching more and saw him in quite a few interviews, and he’s actually incredibly mature, thoughtful, humble, good head on his shoulders I feel. Really gained a lot of respect in my eyes as both a human and actor. Definitely watching his career, and looking forward to seeing him in Dune!

it'll be nice when he escapes the young actor stigma, similar to how DiCaprio made that jump. not that he isn't already great, thats just something people can use against him when trying to not take him seriously. such a bright future!!

he's incredibly intellectual, his performance in Beautiful Boy, The King, Call Me By Your Name.... are just so mature and emotionally raw, he has explored so many different roles and genres, heard he's going to be in a comedy and a horror movie soon too Timothee is definitely going to be in the industry for a long time, can't wait for Dune as well!

I've grown up in and lived my whole life in Sacramento. This movie speaks a lot to me about coming to age in this town. This movie really hit a feeling I didn't understand. A lot of those shots at the end of the movie when she is driving through Sacramento were just gorgeous, but they were also just my daily commute to college. The overlook on the bridge is off of Business I-80 overlooking the American River. The place where the road forks is J and H street. You take the left to J street and the next light is where you turn into Sac State. I'd use J to get back to the freeway to get home and that's when I would pass the Fab 40's (Where the Lady Bird house is) and the Raven Club is on your left heading back to I-80. A lot of people say this makes them nostalgic for a town they've never been to, but for someone who lived here, the shots really gave me a new appreciation for what had just been the background scenery to my life. Needless to say, people in Sacramento couldn't shut up about this movie for years.

As a mother with a sometimes contentious relationship with my daughter since her teens (she is 26 now), this film really hit me in the feels. As soon as I watched it, I called her and told her how much it affected me and asked her to please watch it. She didn't get to see it til almost two years later when it came available to Prime. She messaged me to say she had finally watched it and said it was "meh, okay". My heart was shattered. Now watching you talk about it makes me realize she is currently inbetween the two storytellers; she isn't that young adolescent anymore so she doesn't relate to Ladybird's view, and although she does has two toddlers (one being a girl), she hasn't *went through* motherhood yet so she doesn't really see the mom's perspective either. Still, this movie was so emotional for me and it crushed me she just didn't get why.

As a mother of two (boys but still a mom non the less) and not being very old myself but in my mid 30s this movie destroyed me from both sides. I remember being like that with my mother and feeling i was right and i feel that over bearing love with my kids sometimes and not knowing how to express it to them. I think if you actually have fully gone through both sides of this story its just gut wrenching sobby time

It's been said before, but the best stories are the ones that are so specific to a setting and its characters that it becomes universal. It seems counterintuitive but it really is true. Never write with the intention of trying to appeal to everybody. Write something true and unique and the audience will come to it.

You brought up cliche. Using the term can be useful yet this film made me realize how lazy my use of the term has been at times. Despite this being a coming of age story there was nothing cliche about these characters, except for their love for each other. Interesting that the most cliche thing about the film was that Lady Bird, the character, was courageous when her compass was love and cowardly when she lost that compass. Mom was a great demonstration of the degree of anger being directly proportional to her love. Her only way of expressing that love was through non-stop criticism. The situations were cliche, the characters not at all. I have so many friends and family who put down films for this or that and are so busy pointing out the flaws they completely miss the ride. You are like me. I see so much of the good and how unbelievably creative these film makers and actors are. I really enjoy your reactions! Thanks for sharing.

Saoirse Ronan was dealing with acne whilst filming this and they didn’t cover it up. You could see it. As a young girl who’s struggled with that it was so refreshing seeing it on film, on the lead role who wasn’t the butt of a joke which is so rare to see in a coming of age film but so many people go through it!

"He's Sasuke" bruh, that had me laughing so hard, it's so true tho It's kinda weird seeing a movie about this time period, I feel like there's not a lot of them based around this era, I mean, you could even say this is a period piece. I don't know if Lady Bird is autobiographical or not, but it's definitely a love letter to Sacramento since that's Greta Gerwig's home and you can really feel it in the movie. I love that point that you brought up about missing the little things that you start to notice when you leave your hometown, I've never live outside my city but I'm sure there's a lot of stuff that I'd miss once I leave. I love the mother/daughter dynamic in this, it's one that in my opinion, you don't get to see very often in movies like these or if they try to do it, they fail because they turn the mother in this big villain in the main character's story and it doesn't feel real. Meanwhile I see Lady Bird's mother in this and I can totally see her in some real people that I know. I think Greta Gerwig is a great writer and I think you should watch Frances Ha, she co-wrote it with Noah Baumbach, the director. She also stars in it and she's great. It's actually really similar to Lady Bird in some ways. Lucas Hedges (red hair guy) is also a great young actor, you should definitely check him out in Manchester by the Sea if you haven't, he kills it in that one. He was in Moonrise Kingdom too actually. And what can I say about Timothée Chalamet that hasn't been said already? That guy is pure talent, I don't think this role shows his range (even tho I like his character a lot and he's very funny) but he brings everything on the table in Call Me By Your Name, honestly one of my favorite performances ever, I really thought he was going to snatch the oscar that year.

The behind the scenes of this film is magical, Greta Gerwig seems so genuine and loving when it comes to the craft of film making. It's also looking like Little Women is going to win the poles for your next reaction so have fun experiencing another perfect film by Greta

Here's a question for everyone: how come that every gay guy saw such a twist coming from a mile away, but straight folks are always taken by surprise?

I don't know, I'm bi and I didn't see that twist coming.

I have no clue, but as a gay guy I clocked it instantly when he said he wanted to go to France lmao
@krautgazer
@krautgazer 4 жыл бұрын
@@samanbr7917 I mean, I also want to go to France, so it's pretty confusing as a bi guy. To be honest, I didn't even connect he was gay until he cried on her shoulders and told her he was gay. Until then, I just assumed he was bi too, since he was showing clear affection towards her.

@@krautgazer yeah not that going to france = being gay, but it was also stuff like him saying "i respect you too much to touch your boobs" and what have you. also kissing a guy while in a relationship w a girl
@krautgazer
@krautgazer 4 жыл бұрын
@@samanbr7917 Him kissing a guy I just interpreted at that time as he was simply cheating on her, he could still have liked guys and girls alike and be a cheater, but yeah, the "not touching your boobs because I respect you too much" was indeed very strange...

I highly recommend “Revolutionary Road.” One of my favorite films and performances by Leonardo DiCaprio. I strongly feel this is the film he should’ve gotten the Oscar for. It’s uncomfortable to watch and it really sits with you. I saw a prescreening when it first came out, with a friend. We were both kind of speechless at the end. We then talked about it the whole way home and we had very differing opinions on it. We both loved it but I mean we varied in how we perceived the characters, what motivates them, etc. it’s an interesting watch that I think you’d enjoy as a film maker.

I love this movie, love how it feels, the dialogue and specially the dynamic between the protagonist and her mother. My only problem with it it's the subplot with Lady Bird and the "cool kids" and she abandoning her dearest friend. Like, I get that it happens, but I think the movie and the protagonist are more clever than to fall in this cliché. Aside from that, pretty amazing movie.

I have absolutely zero interest in this movie...I DO NOT like the main actress, and I only saw one movie she was in after the first time I saw her because I love the book it was based on...but am I watching this anyway? You bet I am! Always love hearing your views on a movie, especially since you bring a filmmaker's perspective to it, which is something I haven't seen in reaction videos before.
