Very similar movies although Superbad takes place in the era it came out, where as Dazed came out in the 90s but takes place in the 70s. Even similar in the sense that both Dazed and Superbad are named after legendary songs that are NOT on the movie soundtracks.

@El Vato It actually is quite a bit like Dazed although it focuses on one core friend group rather than a few. It has the "last chance to party at the end of the school year" focus that the kids have, trying to scrum together something cool outside of the view of cops and parents, as well as most of the main events taking place over a period of about 24 hours. So ya I do get the Dazed comparison for sure. It also, liked Dazed, has a striking realness to the way high school kids behave and think. In a lot of movies about teens the dialogue feels like it was written by adults and the actors don't look like teenagers. Even American Pie... all those moments and lines of dialogue feel very contrived and the actors playing high schoolers look 25 or older. In both Dazed and Superbad, the dialogue and actors feel more legit to the time period and age they're supposed to be in imo.

Since every reactor is doing it I noticed 2 things on multiple viewings. The color palette is super warm so to me it feels like fall but if they're graduating it's around summer. Also I really like how the movie ends now when before I didn't. It's suppose to be about high school kids so the ending just feels like another day. Makes it feel more real that this was just a crazy Friday or whatever.

"Good Boys" is a nice companion to this film. Its cast is younger and it's more recent and well worth a look. I had a lot of fun with that one too. 🙂

"It's Merlot!!" This film made me cry tears when I rented it at Blockbuster. Had an alcoholic beverage before and Jesus, there I was.

I’m just amazed at the level of the scriptwriting they did at such a young age.

If you liked this movie, you will like “Good Boys”. It’s kinda like Superbad with middle schoolers. One of my favorite comedies of the last few years.

This was the funniest movie I ever watched. Saw it in my junior year in high school and it was the first time I watched a high school movie that had realistic dialogue. Like this kinda shit was exactly how me and my friend group talked to each other.

Always loved this, even being from England the awkward, truthful comedy translated perfectly. I used to watch this and anchorman every time I came home from a night out when I was 18... feck.. 14 years ago

I was 17 when this came out, so it was a favorite of mine. I was right in the thick of all those high school feelings and situations myself. It’s such a good movie though, definitely a classic in my book.

This came out my senior year and Holy hell did it hit home the scene when Jonah mentions the "waistband trick" legit made me damn near suffocate laughing so hard then my gf at the time goes I don't get it and had to explain the mechanics of it and how damn near every dude knows that trick she got real freaked out thinking the dudes in school were fully torqued at all times 🤣🤣

The guy on the left who was laughing at Seth when he had the blood on his pants is Jody Hill, a director who has worked on some really funny projects like East Bound And Down, The Foot Fist Way, The Righteous Gemstones, and more. You should check out some of his work.

the craziest part about this film is the fact it was written by Seth Rogen and his long time writing partner Evan Goldberg, loosely based on their high school experience and they first started writing this movie while they were underclassmen in high school. i watched this film for so many years and never even realized it was written by Seth Rogen
