Fun fact: The Brad Pitt cameo was a last-minute thing. Pitt was in the set, and was asked if he would be willing to make a cameo, and when they asked Brad how much it would cost, Brad just asked for a cup of coffee as payment.

He has no lines and a very short screen time actually because his management and others wouldn't let him be in the movie without a paid contract so he did it anyway but in a way that wouldn't trigger SAG minimums. So he wasn't really just on set but had to play it off as if he was and just did a quick "Background" scene. As he was primary in the shot they had to keep the time on screen quick.

8:40 Honestly it's still a thing in the MCU movies. The Deadpool movies weren't done by Marvel Studios so it has a different look and feel to it. A majority of the MCU movies still have that color pallete. I can only think of a couple off the top of my head that don't (Dr Strange, GoTg, Thor Ragnarok, Shang Chi, and some of Black Panther).

its really rare that a sequel can surpass your expectation by miles. Seeing this in the theater i was ready to me mildly entertained. When i walked out i had butterflies thinking about the possibility for a 3rd. I went to the theater 4 more times that week. I love how happy you got watching deadpool.

Fun fact, they actually used the original cerebro prop from the first X-men movies. Ryan Reynolds actually broke the antenna off a multi-million dollar movie prop. And the entire cast just rolled with it. That... is dedication.

Wait did you not watch the post credit scenes? 😭 Those were the high mark of the movie and show how amazing Ryan Reynolds just knows this character so damn well. Definitely worth a watch and makes the movie worth it all and only because of the post credit scenes as far as I’m personally concerned. Yes, the movie is amazing, but the post credit scenes are just on their own other level.

Recommendations based on the cast: Kid playing Russell (Julian Dennison) - Hunt for the Wilderpeople. It’s a Taika Waititi film, and it’s so good! Domino (Zazie Beetz) - The Harder They Fall. It’s a really good western and incredibly entertaining! They’re both on Netflix!

First watch I had no clue how they would make "luck is my superpower" entertaining and action-oriented. FYI. “Young Frankenstein” is very much worth owning. One of the best and funniest films of Mel Brooks (especially if you have seen the old Universal monster films Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein).

T.J. Miller played a great and hilarious character in another movie you should react to: She's Out Of My League. Good for you spotting Brad Pitt. If you spotted Matt Damon and Alan Tudyk earlier, it was edited out of your reaction. Also, Ryan Reynolds pulled double duty by also portraying Juggernaut.

@@Rummyson - I think he's smart enough to see what works and what didn't work, so I think it will be up to par with what we now expect from a Deadpool movie. But I am as well very curious to see just what he will reference from his own MCU or just general real life. (And I'm actually really glad it'll be a few years since Deadpool 2, to give Reynolds that real itch to bring him back onscreen. I also imagine we'll get a cameo in an end-credits scene before Deadpool 3.)

I've heard Domino's powers explained this way in an excerpt from an xmen comic.. her power isn't actually luck, because how would that be a thing without universal omnipotence. Instead she's telekinetic like Jean Grey, but she controls it subconsciously in a way that improves her current situation making it appear like she's just super lucky. I think that's a cooler ability anyways because she's manipulating so many different variables in minute ways that creates that perfect outcome.

From this OG Deadpool fan, since way back when he was the outcast of the Marvel comics and none of my friends knew who he was: Hella enjoyable reaction, James. That excitement is palpable. If you'll notice, Shatterstar said he was an alien from planet Mojo world. Everybody thought he was lying but when he dropped into those helicopter blades his blood was green not red. And I heard Juggernaut was voiced by Ryan Reynolds, but I wouldn't put all my chips on black because I heard that.

Okay, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in prior videos of other marvel movies, but this film is from the Fox franchise of Marvel content. The MCU is from the Disney franchise. Different studios, different filmmakers, different color keying. The X-Men movies are from this half and have a similar gritty realistic look.

Domino's superpower of luck is actually probably my second favorite mutant ability. You could live a normal life and just like... times a little rough... enter the lottery and boom. Get in an accident... luckily all damage was on their car. Want a new job? Just apply with no prior experience and get lucky. My first favorite is Nightcrawler. I so bad want him done right in the MCU.

Worth pointing out how while Deadpool is a Marvel character, this and the first movie were not part of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe." That's the umbrella for the Disney produced movies. This, X-Men/Logan, Venom, and The Amazing Spiderman movies were done by Sony, who owns the film rights to those characters. That's also a reason why the color grading looks so much better and not as flat, like you pointed out- it's not stuck to the MCU's prescribed art/film direction.

8:45 There is no flat colour grading in this because it was made and distributed by FOX. I don't know what it is with most of the MCU films distributed by Walt Disney having awfully dull colour grading. You don't notice this problem in the other Marvel films made by Sony, Fox or New Line

This was a good movie but the beginning of this movie upset me! I remember watching it in the theater and when they killed Deadpool's girlfriend I was so pissed I almost felt like leaving the theater. Thankfully the after credit scenes redeemed it.

I hope you stuck around for the post-credits scene(s), which are great. For Young Frankenstein, when you do see it, I remember reading somewhere that it's a shot-by-shot re-creation of the original Frankenstein from 1931 which is so cool. Maybe watch them back-to-back?

Hey James, this seems like something you would know but based off of your comments on the color grading I'm thinking maybe you don't? Deadpool Is a Fox marvel film and so are all mutant films up until 2019 when they were purchased by disney. Marvel has improved its generally flat look with some of their films but deadpool 2 isn't an example of that since fox has always had their own flavor on things.

As far as the action scenes being good, the director was David Leitch and he was the other director of the first John Wick and Atomic Blonde and is/was a stunt performer/coordinator, which explains a lot.

About the colour grading, I don't think the two Deadpool movies were made by Disney's Marvel Studios. I believe they were made by Fox, before they were bought by Disney. There was a lot of talk about wether Disney would allow future Deadpool movies to remain R-rated.
