I love that you compared Charlie to some sort of chaos god! My own personal fan theory is that the gang are all demigods who have been cursed to live as humans together for all eternity. They will forever make each other’s lives miserable, as well as any unfortunate mortal who tries to intervene. This is why they’re constantly getting away with shit relatively unscathed, they’ve still got a touch of divine luck. I think Cricket would have been a god who fell in love with Dee and tried to save her, only for the gods to punish him as well but worse. (This is all just my own personal just for funsies theory, not a real one, but it’s a fun way to think while rewatching the show for the millionth time lol.)

I have an inkling of the possible underlying psychological structure of this show. Clearly Dennis is Ego personified. Charlie may be the Id. Frank could be the Superego, but where do Mac and Sweet Dee fit in? This is a puzzle entirely beyond the capacity of my currently not especially sober brain to crack. If I remember any of this tomorrow (doubtful) I will bend the enormous bulk of my brainpower to the task. Although frankly, I may just get unsober again, if history is any guide.

Its the best comedy show ever. They have no line they wont cross, they are all terrible people. Anything can and will happen. The characters are brilliantly played. Even the recurring side characters. I haven't seen the last few seasons, but I don't know how they kept the writing so good for so long.

As a lover or cinema, the highest recommendation I can ever give you is "One Cut of the Dead". Once you watch it, you will end up just like me. You will try your best to rewatch this movie as many times as you can with your family and friends (just to see their reactions). And will recommend it to everyone else. The only problem is how easily it is spoiled. It's best to go in completely cold. No trailer, no reviews, no synopsis, no nothing. Just a single word can spoil what this movie is. After watching it, you can delve into just how successful this movie was. With 100% RT score, and one of the most successful budget to gross of any movie ever made. But I'm not a Patreon, so I really hope you get to enjoy this gem regardless. And it's best viewed with the original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles.
