Some people pause too much and talk about irrelevant stuff, or about uninteresting things about themselves. I don't mind when someone has expertise about something and they talk about their interpetation or impression using that knowledge. This channel obviously has a right to pause and even rewind bc he's breaking down minute details in the shots and cuts, as well as interpreting the meaning of how all the scenes work together to tell a story

While I was watching your reaction, when you mentioned biblical references in Namjoon's scene, it made me think why that specific scene was there and I remembered how with Noah and the ark, no one believed him when he said a flood was coming, and with BTS, no one really supported them in the beginning, it was really hard for them to break through, and yet they did. After the flood, basically it was like a new beginning and so with BTS to me it's like after all the mocking and discouragements they faced, they survived and they've grown. Really really like your reactions (the multiple pauses I don't mind at all. It shows your thought process and I find it really nice and thought provoking too, seeing how you interpret things especially with like little to no background knowledge at all with the video or song as well as the cinematography info you put in really makes me think about why a scene was shot the way it was and how it all ties into what the overall meaning of the song is. I find it really genuine. I like it a lot!) You're doing such a great job!

I recently fell into the BTS rabbit hole and I REALLY enjoy the more ANALYTICAL reactions from professionals in various industries. The sound engineers, DJs, musicians, music producers, videographers, film makers, vocalists, composers, classical musicians, a comedian (yes, a comedian, who is VERY introspective, and I LOVE him!) with very intelligent analytical commentaries of the BTS music videos they are watching, contributing perspectives from areas of expertise and professions, which just taught me so VERY much. @@sunray535 LOL you got some of them right. Justin Burke (vocalist), Jacob Resituto (Music Production), Comedian Reacts (NOT for comedy, but for his insightful and reflective commentaries. LOVE him!), and Jordan Orme (Editor). I have to check the rest. The others I like for same reasons are: "ReacttotheK" a group of classical musicians whose musical analysis is on another level. Some of the terms they used are so technical that they have to give additional notations but it is worth the trouble. They are also very good at tuning into other aspects of the artistries around music, as expected. Plus a lot of them are well read and highly versed on what to some of us might be obscure art house films that they could pick up references that someone like me have to rely on BOOKISH THEORIES to research for us! LOL The other good ones, although not necessarily reacting to BTS regularly enough for me to subscribe to are: Big Brain Singer, an opera singer's perspective. He said that V has what it takes to be an opera singer if he wants to. He also gave perspectives that I have never heard of before. Which was educational. Another is a Korean DJ in Vietnam whose channel simply called "DJ Chadol". He occasionally has English sub in some of his videos. His analysis of music production and genre complete with their history are great! The other is a Korean music producer I think, whose channel name is in Korean so I can never remember but this is the name 미친감성 (감성사운드) He also occasionally have Eng sub and his analysis is informative.

Regarding your question about whether the "dark" version of themselves is the past or present: based on the shadow concept in Jungian psychology, which this is based on, the "dark" version co-exists with the "light" version. The dark version of themselves is their shadow, the parts of themselves that they struggle with or don't like but have to embrace to become their true selves.

Loved that you looked up the Lyrics before you reacted. From a cinematic standpoint I can really recommend "Interlude: Shadow" (one of the solo songs on their albums, dealing again with Carl Jung's analytical psychology), "Spring Day" (I really recommend to watch it with an explanation to show how much symbolism they put into their MVs - this one is actually about the Sewol Ferry Tragedy of 2014), "Black Swan" (which takes place in a gorgeous theater and deals with the "first death of an artist") and the MV of the solo project from one member of the rap line (Suga aka Agust D) called DAECHWITA (with great historic sets).

I agree. As a fan or a simpler reactor you should go in blind. But if you have a specialty or profession like he does I think it’s better to know about aspects of the mv that don’t relate to your field so you can focus on that and have a better understanding overall.

BTS has always said that they don't limit their videos and songs to one meaning. People can interpret it in any way. However, most of their work goes beyond just them being artists and their fans. They implement a lot of literature, past thinkers and aim to sending messages related to world issues. I feel like this video, especially in context to the album, is about something bigger than their struggles as artists (which they covered in black swan).

Since I didn't see any comment bout this. In the end it goes from "NO MORE DREAM" to "DREAM" . No more Dream is actually their debut song from 2013 so I think it sets a strong message aswell to go from there to "Dream".

It’s totally ok to pause and put your thoughts out. In general as far as BTS’ main discography goes the chronological order is: School series->Dark&Wild->Most Beautiful Moment In Life/Young Forever->Wings/You Never Walk Alone->Love Yourself series->Map of the Soul series->Dynamite+BE-> Butter+new upcoming album ON is a turning point in the Map of the Soul:7 album in terms of story telling, it’s part of the transition between the concepts of Shadow and Ego. From my point of view I see “Louder Than Bombs” and “ON” as kind of an acceptance of BTS’ turbulent thoughts they talked about in the preceding tracks (ie: burn out, fear of losing passion, missing out on normal life, loneliness, uncertainty about the future, etc.) but ultimately a resolution to go forward. Will definitely be watching for more reactions 👍

As you said there numerous ways of understanding their mv. You're not wrong per se (except for the chronology, the wing era and the map of the soul era are separated by the Love Yourself era.) I like your interpretation and the thoughts you put into it. They are valid because artwork leads to personal interpretation. See it like a whole journey. Wing (Blood sweat and tears): breaking of childhood, accepting temptation and breaking into adulthood. Love yourself (fake love and other): love is a misleading goal, you must love yourself to-be able to really love other's Map of the soul: Jungian psychology: understanding what make you, you. Persona, shadow (This mv is amazing btw) and ego are part of you. By accepting it, youwill move on your way of self-discovery. I am here at their brightest day's but I wasn't there during those darkest times and it makes me sad. I'm obsessed with your professional analysis and breakdowns of the cinematography and filmmaking aspects of their music. I love this! There are definitely many different interpretations but one thing is for sure: understanding BTS’ universe will help a lot. Jin is a time traveler in their storyline. I think the many bird cages represent the many times his “dove” (jungkook) died and he was unable to save it. If you see at the end, 7 doves fly together, and jungkook finally joins the rest of them. they reunited. the doves represent themselves.

The wings album was in 2016 and "ON" was in 2020. After the wings era, there was four other albums before ''ON''. "Fake Love" was on one of these albums. Generally, BTS releases two albums/singles per year. You did some mistakes while researching but at least you tried and I'm thankful for that. Some people complain about not understanding BTS songs but they don't even try to do some research.

They have this thing called the BU meaning the BTS UNIVERSE basically their music videos and short films are a series of stories starting from the very start and everyone of them is connected so the fandom also creates theories of it. I would suggest “This is BTS: A crash course 2020” by suga & spice which goes into the various eras of music and “ A most beautiful life goes on” by Asian Theory which gives a chronological overview of their career. The drums are about world war II the drummer boy picture. Its the same truck and almost look alike boy on top of it. And the drums meant so many other kids died in battles. I think the black veins on V's neck are supposed to symbolise the "shadow". In the kinetic manifesto version of this, he has a tattoo on his face that says, "the shadow in me".

After all, you said about "ON" I'm so curious what would you say about "Shadow" (maybe better order would be "Persona", "Shadow", "Black Swan" and "Ego"... but I'm the most curious on your take with "Shadow" - so hopefully I will wait and see it soon). Seriously, the way you told a story about BTS after jumping into this world not so long ago - I'm in awe. I would say check the lyrics before, but do not analyze them to much - just read so you are able to keep them in mind while you watch them singing in korean. I really love your analysis of BTS MV's! It's just *chefs kiss*. I think that the black veins that show up on V's neck represents scars/imperfections. The little girl has a blind fold on and prior to that, we don't see anything on V. I believe, like what you said, she represents new army, that just started getting into BTS at the time that they started to make it big. THEN, when V removed the blind fold, the black veins show up. I think that represents how new army or just people in general know BTS as this big boy band, but once you get to know them, they realize that it wasn't all fame and fortune for BTS and that they have these imperfections that were created as a result of their struggle with gaining fame. I think it's also important to know that when BTS was trying to name this song, the title ON was a result of one of the very first songs titled N.O from their first mini album and they decided to flip it. The song N.O talked about how they couldn't have their own dreams as its common for parents to often control their childrens futures, and how adults always tried to make younger generations follow their steps and try to make them believe it was the only way to be successful in life. The ending shows the words "No More Dream", which again is a reference to another one of their first songs called "No More Dream" from their debut album, and then turns into just "Dream". This entire album Map of the Soul 7 has them making lot of references to their earlier works, which i think implies that no matter how successful they've become the pain from the past is what made them who they are today. And until now, BTS does not try to hide that pain. All the vlogs/personal documentaries that were recorded starting from when they lived in their tiny 1 bedroom apartment are still available on their youtube channel for old and new army to watch. I feel like their saying our old self is our new self and I think its beautiful.

your theorizing is like sooooo over and beyond anything i had ever thought of holy shit that’s an amazing theory. also, like many other comments I’ve seen, don’t mind those complaining about your pauses. it’s really refreshing to find a reactor that analyzes every bit and piece of their art so thoroughly while also focusing on the cinematic. you thinking out loud through out the videos makes me see these videos I’ve loved in a new light. Plus, i think you’re genuinely the only reactor where i don’t really find myself skipping past your pausing, nor does it feel like you’re only looking through BTS for the views. it feels really genuine especially from the subtle looks of amazement you get at certain times.
