Another Jackie Chan film recommendation: Armour of God II: Operation Condor. Stunts & fight scenes are bonkers.

For other Jackie movies I'd recommend Operation Condor and First Strike. First Strike isn't the best one of his movies but I think it has his most impressive fight scene.

When Jackie jumped onto the Hovercraft, he switched his ankle. He contacted filming while wearing a cast on the ankle that was painted to match the sneaker on the other foot! Drunken Master #2 (Cantonese) is one of his best films. He fired the Director near the end of filming because they had a major disagreement on how to design the final fight. Jackie wanted the traditional style of Drunken Boxing to be featured but the Director wanted a modern style to be shown. The final fight always appears in Best Martial Arts Fights lists.

When Jackie jumps on the boat, he already had a broken foot from one of the earlier stunts. A BROKEN foot! What did he do? He made them paint the cast to look like his sneaker, so he could still to the stunt. Absolutely insane.

Actually he broke his ankle on that jump. If you watch the bloopers at the end when he lands on the hovercraft you can see when he broke it. He lands then he fall and grabs his leg. And to finish the movie in time he had them make a sock that looked like his shoes. He even had to do some stunts with he broking ankle

If you ever see Buster Keaton then you see how Jackie Chan was influenced by him. The comedy approach. Always loved how his characters got hurt in his films. Fighting takes it toll on you, even if you win. They are not invulnerable.

Getting hurt is a part of his underdog style, in alot of his fights he starts out at a disadvantage, hes limited by either being stuck or has to protect someone or thing but he pulls himself up and then he wins

This was my dad’s favorite Jackie Chan movie. He would watch it every time it was on tv and react as if he was watching it for the first time. He never got bored with it lol.

Jackie Chan is absolutely amazing. He did some of the craziest stunts, with plenty of injuries to show for it, including this movie. So fun to watch! I also love the Drunken Master movies... Jackie at his best.

This was, I think, the first Jackie Chan movie I saw as a kid and it's still a favorite. The woman who runs the store is Anita Mui and she was an all time great. She plays Jackie's stepmom in Legend of Drunken Master and she's hilarious!

In the much maligned (mainly for the inclusion of an American kid to the story in order to get financing and distribution in the US) *The Forbidden Kingdom* did one thing right in having the camera just step back and watch Jet Li And Jackie Chan fight, instead of trying to improve on it in the editing suite.

They filmed most of the movie in my home town of Vancouver B.C. Canada. Jackie broke his ankle-foot on the crazy jump. And when he was being towed by the hovercraft on the water he did that with said broken foot.

I'm sure you getting tons of suggestions, but for my money Jackie's final fight in Drunken master 2 is the best martial arts fight put to film. Even Roger Ebert said he didn't think it was possible to shoot a better fight scene.

"Wow, that was incredible, how does he do that?" By repeating each stunt like a hundred times to get it perfectly right. Literally hundreds of times. When Jackie Chan is able to make a movie he wants to how he wants to, that's what he does. The amount of work and dedication from Jackie and his entire stunt team is downright legendary.

Except they do and have. Jackie Chan famously spends months on single fight scenes during his Hong Kong days, where his most impressive work is from. The last fight scene of Drunken Master 2 has him crawling on real live coals. And he did it three times because the shot didn't come out right the first two. He has a bad scar on his arm from it.

I remember when I saw this movie at the theater with my friend in the 90s. We both yelled a the screen at 11:37 and shouted "Theres no game!!" when we saw the empty game slot on back of the Game Gear. Good times.

When Jackie gives the Game Gear console to the boy in the bus, you can see clearly that there's... no game in it, and it's still empty when we see him playing later !

Oh man I'm SUCH a fan of this movie. But it's been YEARSSS since I've seen it. I remember absolutely loving it as a kid and watching it a bunch. I know I'm commenting prematurely (before I finish the reaction) but I'm stoked to see how you like it. Yess James mate! I remember watching this classic and then immediately watching some footage about that jump on the hover-craft after over and over. I'm pretty sure he broke his ankle and they put a sneaker painted sock over his plaster cast, to continue filming! That was when i realised that he really loved what he was doing! It's awesome to see that young filmmakers are re-watching these movies! Not just as a fan but knowing what it takes to co ordinate these stunts too! Few other things - Anita Mui (main actress) has passed away since, also uncle Bill has passed away. Also the main bad guy, he did doing a stunt in a movie. The scene where they smash bottles at him down the alley way, is longer in the hk version and other scenes also.

Jackie has a great mini-documentary called "My Stunts" where he covers his biggest stunts, some of his injuries, his stunt school, and a little bit of how he sets up scenes and plans stunts as a director. IMO his best stunts, and my favorite fight scene are in "Who Am I". I definitely recommend it.

THIS was the movie that introduced my brother and I to the works of Jackie Chan and from that, we followed his work and went back and discovered his past work. I can't express how much joy we both had seeing his movies in the theaters. It will be a joy that time will never diminish because of memory. Maybe when I'm a drooling vegetable at 71 will it actually diminish but I'm taking pills to prevent that.

Because of this first movie I saw, I now own so many Jackie Chan DVDs. Rumble in the Bronx is not a great or even a good film -- New York harbor has mountains? -- but it is a highly entertaining movie and that's a prerequisite for any movie.

One of the coolest things was what Jackie said in an interview about how he hates fixing a small stunt in the edit. He's like that movie's going to outlive all the hassle of getting it right, so get it right even if it takes 100 tries. Just a phenomenal professional ethic

I remember when this came out in theatres and I'd never seen a Jackie Chan movie before. My mom hated martial arts movies and so my stepdad begged me to go see it with him, I had just turned 16 and I wasn't that interested but I went anyway and the dubbed over English irritated me but the movie was great. At the end of the film, the bloopers were hilarious but he did his own stunts and he got his ass kicked a ton in this movie and mostly by inanimate objects. That took some dedication.

I've always loved this movie. One of my faves throughout the 90s and 2000s, and still stands up any time I watch it the past decade. The action, humor, and straight-up corniness are all mixed together so well.

This was actually Jackie's 3rd attempt to break into the American movie market. The first was in 1980, "The Big Brawl" aka "Battle Creek Brawl", directed by Robert Clouse, who made Enter the Dragon, Bruce Lee's "hollywood" movie. That failed. Then in 1985 me made "The Protector" with director James Glickenhaus and co starring character actor Danny Aiello.. it also failed. On both films he was hampered by working with an American crew and stunt team that didnt get how to shoot his kind of action. Rumble in contrast is a Hong Kong film that has an American "theme" (shot in Canada)... but it's his stunt team. Jackie had been famous around the world since the late 70s.. the US was the last country to "get" Jackie.

Golden Harvest co-produced the Cannonball Run movies to get him included in the cast, which were successful movies but didn't do a whole lot to raise his profile here. Jackie got the idea of putting out-takes in the credits from Hal Needham, another stunt-man turned director.

This fabulously fun movie was shot in and around Vancouver, BC. When I see the Coast/Cascade mountain range loom behind the city, as well as many other identifiable locations, it makes me smile in recognition - and amusement that it has to be called "the Bronx". And Jackie Chan is amazing!

You should definitely check out Jackie's move "Legend of the Drunken Master" (1994) because it's some of Jackie's best stunts and fight choreography ever. Also, Anita Mui (the store owner from this movie) plays his step-mom in that movie, and she is fucking hysterical! Another couple of good Jackie Chan movies to check out are "Supercop" (also starring Michelle Yeoh) and "Mr. Nice Guy" (has a fun over-the-top bad guy). Since you seem to like martial arts movies, other stars to consider checking out are Jet Li ("Kiss of the Dragon" and "Unleashed"), Donnie Yen ("SPL: Kill Zone" and "Special ID"), and Yuen Biao (a friend of Jackie's whose movies are a little harder to find; "The Iceman Cometh," "Above the Law"/"Righting Wrongs," and "On the Run"). Yuen Biao is my personal favorite, but they're all great. I was raised on Jackie Chan films, so they've always been a huge influence on me. I love his perfect blending of action and comedy. Glad to see you reacting to more of his films! ^_^

EYYY YOOOO, THIS IS THE MOVIE THAT MADE ME A FAN OF JACKIE!!!👍👍👍 I cannot stress enough that you need to check out Sammo Hung movies as well, he and Jackie are 'brothers', they trained, worked for many years together and the movies they've done together are amazing. I have to recommend 2 movies: Meals on Wheels(1984) and Dragons Forever(1988). It's an ensemble cast so Jackie isnt the only main character and its awesome to see his supporting side as well. James, you have no idea how much, you're gonna love those movies. EDIT: I apologize for not giving full respect, Jackie had 2 'brothers', Sammo as I've mentioned and the other is Yuen Biao. All 3 are in both movies and they are phenomenal together.

I think I may have mentioned this in a previous reaction, but Buster Keaton was a big influence on Jackie Chan's physical comic style. You should definitely check out some of Keaton's comedy, not necessarily for a reaction, although that would be cool.

My favorite aspect of this movie is very understated. This is New York through the eyes of Stanley Tong, when someone from Hong Kong goes to New York they see an amalgamation of cultures and people, thus the cast is incredibly diverse.

Oh hell yesssssssss. Went cinema to watch this in the late 90’s when was shown again with rush hour 1 on a double bill. Amazing film. He broke his ankle so we didn’t get a end fight, but the rest of the action is class. Also check dragons forever, miracles (directed), police story 2,3, The Foreigner and many more

"Jackie Chan in New York is an awesome look." He also looks pretty good in Vancouver, BC, Canada, because that is where this was filmed. All the shots of New York were long shots showing the city, but you never see a recognizable skyline in the rest of the movie. In the nineties Vancouver was known as Hollywood north, because we have so many different types of landscapes, and so many movies set in America where actually filmed here. Also, our dollar was lower so the film companies got a bigger bang for their buck. The majority of the series The X-Files was also filmed in many locations around British Columbia.

Rumble in the Bronx was an incredible film when it came out. Jackie Chan's 'First Strike', 'Drunken Master' (1978) and 'Legend of Drunken Master' (1994) are absolutely incredible films as well!

I binged every Supercop in two days with my brother many years ago. They're from when he was still in Hong Kong. Jackie is awesome

as a kid in the 90s he was THE guy to see. we would always go to the theatre for a Jackie Chan movie to see what crazy stunts he did. His style of ''using the environment'' as weapons has inspired so many movies, including the jacket stunt during the Shang-Chi bus fight.

Saw this in the theater with my buds. one of the pointed out that there are no mountains in NYC, and kew it was HK. Killed it for us!

You can’t see the Rockies from Vancouver either. Those are the North Shore Mountains. The Rockies are 800km to the east.

I very HIGHLY suggest checking out some of Jackie's earlier films if you want to check out more of him. Snake in the Eagles shadow, Drunken master and legend of the drunken master( though this is quite a bit later than the prior two listed), or one of my personal favorite Wheels on Meals( outside of the drunken master films that hold a special place in my heart).

this movie was filmed in Vancouver (Canada in the house!!) ... Jackie broke his ankle during filming, when he jumps onto the hovercraft. They made a slipcover for his cast that looked like a running shoe so he could continue filming.

This movie in particular was huge for me as a little kid. There was a span of a few years where I loved watching Jackie Chan. Van Damme was my other favorite, but Jackie is in a league of his own.

Hes actually the stunt coordinator on most of his movies. They would watch his back and he would watch theirs. That was his motto is you never do this alone. He always has people there who support and assist him.
