I think some today would judge all this as racist, but that was the thing about the old comedy from 20+ years ago (Chappell show, it’s always sunny, the office & others), the old comedy wasn’t “promoting” racism, rather it *used* racism & racists in clever ways to make these people look like the d@mn fools that they are….if a real racist watched this, he too would have to be as dumb as Micheal to think Micheal got a “W” or made any kind of valid points at all, lol….idk, the old school comedy used idiocy & ignorance to expose racists for what they are…insufferable, narrow minded morons. my boss (/owner of the store i worked at) was a michael lol. incredible man. he only ever came in to distract us and got yelled at by my manager for doing so. once the back of the store flooded and he came to "help" to which he only did two things: 1. sprayed a hose outside the back at concrete for like two hrs straight for some reason ? and then walked around saying stuff like "wow that's a lot of water..." he then proceeded to have me make food for him, then he left. he did not help at all. lol

Love that you mix The Office and Always Sunny into your lineup to balance against Mr Robot and Better Call Saul. Another good middle ground show is Community - it's a comedy series but it has some really cool homage and theme episodes that I think you'd appreciate more deeply and speak to uniquely as a filmmaker.

If I recall, the first season was one of the weaker ones because they had just adapted it from the UK version and didn't quite have the characters and beats set up properly. Like the groundwork is there, but after season 1, it really gets good
