I feel your pain. I DNFed at the CCC in 2019. Arrived in La Fouly with 11 min to spare, having not eaten for many hours. The decision to give up is still heavy on my heart. Alps are means. Oh well, SVP100 next month and Les Templiers in October to get more points...

Great video Stephen. Thanks for sharing. I know it’s not the result you wanted, but your cinematic & story telling skills shine though to make it such an entertaining watch, that it would be a shame not to have put it together. Also most of your audience will be savvy enough to appreciate what a colossal challenge TDS represents, to the point that many (myself included) wouldn’t dare even try it. Even in this DNF you did way more vert than I’ve ever done in one race. And that before we even start talking about the altitude you were doing it at!!!

Another great video Stephen. I've never fancied TDS, CCC, UTMB etc. Which is funny as i love the area and i love skiing there and go all the time. Meghan Canfield once told me 'Only pick the races YOU want to do'. I learnt my lesson and do exactly that now. Maybe one day I'll get the urge for one of these big French races. As in your video the views are spectacular. I do want to do the Tignes Ultra just down the road. Just because i want to retire there. By the way my friend Lucy Bartholomew in the background on 3:29 secs with flip flops on. I don't think she ran a race as she had just done the WSER100 again and was doing another race in the States later on.

Great to watch your TDS race again just before heading over to Chamonix. I hope you conquer the TDS this year if you are taking part. This will be my toughest race so hopefully can make it. I loved the CCC in 2019.

yes mark I will be on the start line again for TDS this year. Absolutely have to make the finish this time!! Which race are you doing?
@markdawson29892 жыл бұрын
@@FilmMyRun I'm in the TDS too. I'll just have to see how it goes. I had a broken rib which stopped me training for a month, but I've been training in our local Pentland hills the past five weeks, so hopefully can still make it round. I've never done two nights running before! All the best for the race!

@@FilmMyRun Did you finish the TDS race this year? I unfortunately dropped out at Beaufort as I couldn't eat anything around then and couldn't get any sleep the day before, resulting in being too tired on the second night of running.
@FilmMyRun2 жыл бұрын
@@markdawson2989 hi Mark. Yes I finally managed to get it done. Sorry you had to pull out. It’s a bugger of a run!! Are you thinking about coming back next year?
@markdawson29892 жыл бұрын
@@FilmMyRun That's great. I wasn't thinking of going back as I found the heat really hard, my legs were fine though. Lack of sleep was tough with no sleep the day before! I have found myself entering the Snowdonia 100K though for 3 points now in May. Will see if I get selected one year for the race again? I'll know what to expect now. the mountain bike trail down to Beaufort did me in at 2:00am, it went on and on in the dark. My first double nighter.

Thanks for another great video. Sad you didn't finish. I'm not too fast so am worried about the cut offs. I managed the CCC in 2019 and have a place in the TDS in 2022. Hopefully I can make it through two nights of running. Best of luck in your next entry into the TDS.

Hi, Mark I am in a similar position, managed CCC/2019, hope to finish TDS this year. Back in 2019, I was very confident, with a good result at the thoughest ultra here, in Romania. Then I ignored serious stomac condition couple days before the race and that took a big toll upon me. I recovered my strenght late în the race, passing by Trient I felt better and better. This time I'll be in Chamonix area a week before the race, hopefully with a better race approach. Let's prey for a merciful weather not only for the days we enjoy the race, but for all days the other runners will do the same! Good luck to you for the race, stay away from injuries and enjoy the training for it!
@markdawson29892 жыл бұрын
@@danielstoica3624 I hope your training went well and you are enjoying Chamonix now. I had a broken rib a couple of months back which lost me a months training but have done quite a bit of training over the past 5 weeks or so. Hopefully enough to get through to the end. All the best for the TDS!

I’ll see you on the start line. One thing is that the cut offs have been relaxed a little this year. There were a lot of DNFs in 2019 because of the tight cut offs, so I think they thought again and they have made it a little easier.

It's just the length of the climbs which are tough. The altitude itself isn't too bad. Never higher than around 2600m
