MY RACE KIT & SHOES FOR THE TDS | Training for TDS at UTMB vlog series | Ep 08 | Run4Adventure

After months and months of training, lots of hills climbed, including my last training block in the mountains of Chamonix, race day is upon us! As this video drops on the channel, I will be giving my race kit one last check and then heading towards the bus that's going to take us over to Courmayeur, Italy for a midnight start time. All the kit has been thoroughly tested and I really feel that I can rely on it to help me through the 140km and 9100m of elevation of the TDS. It's going to be one epic journey and fingers crossed I make it back to the iconic finishing arch in Chamonix!

Agree on pulsar trail pro, go to choice in the UK but went for slab ultra 3 on UTMB, just more reliable over the terrain. Also said hi in the first mile of the UTMB race as I saw you at the side of the road but it was all very hectic! Hopefully get chance to say hi properly at another event.

Great choice Loyd, I hope your kit serves you well and you smash the race. I just bagged a £52 pair of Reebok floatride energy 4 Adventure trail shoes. A bit more Cush and more lugs than the Road version (r4adventure!)with a discount code. Not in the same league as your mountain beasts but for the money will hopefully be a great light trail shoe for me and my parkrun visit to Trelissick this weekend. Just couldn’t get on with the high arch in the hoka speedgoats and mafate with my flat plates of meat. All the best Loyd with the race and look forward to the video!

Xodus vs Trailfly Ultra G 300? Just curious, because I can pickup a pair of the trailfly's on super discount right now.

I'd personally go for the Xodus Ultra because it is a lot lighter but the Trailfly is still a nice shoe to run in. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏😊

Did you use the Harrier sizing guide to select your fixed length or have you used adjustable poles and know your size from experience?

I've always used a 125cm running pole lenght, it's just right for my height (6ft 1") 👍

It really depends on how wide your forefoot is? I'd say the width is good in the Xodus Ultra but it's not super wide like an Altra 👍 Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏

The best thing to do is go on the UTMB race website, all the info needed is on there 👍 I have to say it's not the most straight forward race entry system but it's worth all the effort. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
