I was a professional photographer and darkroom tech for many years and I am now retired for 10 years. Thank you for freshening my need to get back into the darkroom. I will indeed make use of your assistance in buying equipment and chemicals in the near future.

I have never done anything like like this but always wanted to develop film in a dark room. It just seems like a very calming and satisfying experience to do something that you love and enjoy. Good luck with getting back into something you love

I bought the Lomography DigtaLIZA Max from FPP just this morning. Once I get comfortable with scanning, I'm definitely going to start developing. Since I have the manual dexterity of a gumball, I'm planning to shoot a few rolls of orthochromatic film and then using a safelight as needed to help load the film. I'm thinking that between low ISO ortho and quick bursts of red light, I probably won't fog the film too much. I don't know how well this would work, but there's only one way to find out

One of the best kept secrets about developing your film at home, particularly black and white film, is that the process is extremely forgiving. If you load the tank in a totally dark room and pour the developer into the tank before the fixer your success is 100% guaranteed. That's probably true even if you make a few minor mistakes along the way. As someone who has been doing darkroom work for many years, I still feel a sense of satisfaction seeing my new negatives for the first time.

I like u!! U must lose ur shit as much as I do. Here I thought I was the worst to lose my shit over simple things. Instead of dark could I just put a red light in bathroom?

A red safety light is only for photographic paper and orthochromatic film. Color film and (typical panchromatic) BW film will fog if exposed to a red light when loading. - Mike
