just finished following the 3 videos, and thank you for these tutorials. One thing I noticed (maybe its my error somewhere along the line).. everything works as intended, but if I happen to start sprinting from an idle position. I lose the character direction change, and they can only sprint in a straight line. Its only after stopping sprinting and starting with a walk/jog then can sprint and change direction perfectly fine.

Quick fix on holding the sprint button while remaining still: > get velocity with target as self, pull return value to VectorLength > get a float > float and set the return value of VectorLength as either one of the two check values (other value is 0) > set the bool of Float > Float as the return value for the ticked Is Sprinting

Hey man, I made a comment earlier but it seemed like my issue was kinda vague. I just figured out how to reproduce my bug and was wondering if you could help me. Essentially, if I press jump and one of the WASD keys at the same time, I jump in that direction right? Well if I quickly transition to a different WASD key, my character is locked to moving towards the direction indicated by the PREVIOUS WASD key. This creates a "stuck" or "locked" direction for the character. I can stop this by simply releasing input and then resuming the WASD keys, but it's been an issue that has been bugging me for quite a while. Did I miss something in these three videos? Or is it just me?

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial! After some tweaks I think it looks pretty good with my custom animations. I just have a problem with the stop animations. Even if my character is running with a speed of 2, when I stop my character the stop animation is the walk to stop animation. And not the run to stop animation. Do you know how I could fix that? I tried making two different states for walking and running with no luck.

Hey Filmstorm, I have a problem with my character as when it jumps from a really high place, after a few seconds it starts playing the start of the jump animation. When I am not moving forward and jump, the character moves forward a bit. How to do I stop that from happening. Also, the Anim_WalkJLH replays on a loop after landing from not moving. Also, is there an animation for land from and into the idle position? Thanks! I watch this whole playlist and appreciate what you have given/sold.

Thank you very much for the lessons! They helped me a lot in creating a realistic system, but I had some problems in connection with which there is a request. In the collection on the marketplace, in addition to movement animations, there are a number of animations for climbing, jumping and jumping obstacles, as well as animations with a rope and a ladder (in addition to combat). Awesome job, i was really looking forward to this! Are you planning in continue this tutorial series? Some things like adding combat mode, slide or ledge interactions would be a great thing to know how to use. Those tutorials with blend per bone on changing weapon type @youtube are really messy too, a bit of enlightment there would be great! I was shocked by how simple it is to settle all those things up, somehow i didn't managed to do it by myself lol Your tutos are simple, easy to catch and direct to the point, really great work. I'll for sure buy your new animation pack! Also, where are the female locomotions for open world pack man? My girl protagonist looks like a 50 year old man walking. hahahah, nah just kidding, keep it up and make an example on how animation packs should be @Unreal Engine 4!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to get back to you on reddit and the unreal storepage as well - I'll reply to those as well :) Yes I am planning on creating a sliding tutorial with a narrow entrance in the mix as well - kinda like in Uncharted when you need to traverse a small space and Drake wriggles through. You'll also be happy to know that the female locos are in the new update (v1.2) and I'm just waiting for Unreal (Epic) to get the review back and publish it to the store... shouldn't be long fingers crossed! Thanks so much for the support and the questions - it means a lot! :)

I know this video is pretty old but I am confused as to why you would use so many states rather than using blendspaces? For example, why not use a (idle/jog/sprint) blendspace that's setup for strafing etc, then use start/stop etc? Am I missing something?

I did this whole tutorial three times and it never worked for me. Character not going into desired directions, weird rotation issues when starting movement. Turning off RM via blueprint seems broken. I don't know what I'm doing wrong to be honest. Other than that very interesting video! Thanks for that!

I am having issues with directional input only working sometimes. What's happening is if I put forward and or left or right and try to turn using mouse it won't go to the direction and at that point I can't change direction using keys. Hello Filmstorm. May i ask how can i use this setup for rotation based movement. I'm not sure if there is a word for it but i want to see the character from his back all the time. I don't want him to look at me ever. It's not using the correct stop animations when i activate the use controller rotation yaw option. Any idea would be helpful. Regards!

Hi Nocte, so you’re after a strafe based movement system? Like gears of war, fixed camera behind the player? To do this, you don’t even need to worry about the rotation, you can setup a animation blendspace to handle the strafe movement and like you mentioned with the controller rotation yaw, you can lock it to achieve the look you’re after. There’s a bit more work that needs to go into it, such as when you’re idling and rotation the camera, you can setup the character to take steps as the camera rotates around. However I think if you focus on setting up the general strafing it will make it easier to see what else you need to do to refine the controller. Is it possible to increase the movement speed of the character without increasing the rate of the animation ? I'm currently having two modes for my character and one of them must double the speed of all movements. But, with the use of root motion, it seems that the speed is related to the animation itself. Is there a way to keep the same rate of the anims but simply make the character translate faster into space ? Ty for the tutorials by the way ;)

I've completed all parts of this tutorial series, and watched through it again to see where I went wrong and I still don't see it, but for some reason when I press S to go back it will start moving either left or right instead of backwards?

@@mahkhardy8588 That's due to your animations, you need to put a lot of time into the ones you make to get the movement/rotation of the root bone working.

Hey. I'm having trouble with the cover animation from this pack, i have cover working, but the animation Anim_CoverWRS stopps way way through, whilst Anim_CoverWLS is longer length and works fine?

Hmm the did clips length get changed accidentally, just checked on my system and the lengths are pretty much the same... try increasing the time it might help. 👍🏼

Hey i found a little bug on my project which i did not change anything i did exactly the same of this video. The bug is like when i jumped it's okay, but if i want to change my direction as soon as landing, the character moves only forward and i need to stop then press key again. Do you have this bug too? How can i solve that? A little bit help would be awesome :)

I also had this bug, it might come late but I fixed this by adding an "allowrotation" notifier somewhere at the start of the jump animation. This would fix the problem of the character moving forward as if it's in some kind of endless runner.

Hi Stephen, sounds like the input axis you are using is the mouse rather than keyboard / gamepad. This would be the only thing that is affecting this. Just double check and it should fix your problem :)

So from tutorial one, where we setup left right action input and up down action input. You can check by going to - edit -> project settings -> input -> action mapping’s and then change from mouse to keyboard inputs like a & d for left and right and w & s for up and down. This will then hook up into those action modes from the beginning of tutorial part 1. 👍🏼

Hello Filmstorm. I have a Problem. So when my Character is falling from very heigh it is playing the Start of the animation every few seconds. What can I do so this doesn't happen?

To fix this problem, you’ll need to change the animation curve values for your jumping and falling animations to 0. This will stop the snapping when the player approaches the ground while falling. 👍🏻

@@Haemish98 unfortunately I didn't. I moved on after I tried it for two days. I made my own jump animation and used the logic from the third person template. Meaning I made a Jump start, jump loop and jump end. Mainly because I didn't know how to change animation curves.
