I had the same experience. So I saw this jacket in the catalog and patiently waited for it to become available. Ordered it for myself for Christmas. When I opened it I was so disappointed. I went online and looked and they had already changed the website to reflect the new specs. Went to my old catalog just to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. My first thought was to return it but it is such a nice jacket I kept it instead. It’s now my ice rink jacket when my boys play hockey. 4 months later and I’m very happy with it.

Glad to see a review of this jacket, it's much too expensive for me to consider (I have a bit of buyer's remorse about my regular mackinaw cruiser) But I wanted to see what it was like. Disappointing that filson didn't deliver on what they showed they would, but I'm not entirely surpised considering filson's track record as of late-- especially upsetting since their aesthetic has turned them into one of my favorite brands. Great video, glad to see you got a chance to reconnect with Taylor. I didn't think the video was badly edited at all. Can't wait for the carhartt vid.

Hot take: poly lined sleeves are terrible. I love the filson jac shirts which are lined in the body with cotton and poly in the sleeves, I'd find my arms to be sweating constantly so I took out out the poly lining leaving only the bare wool and the sweating arms stopped. Coincidence?

I love Filson, and own quite a few tin cloth cruiser jackets, vests, flannels etc. This past year they really disappointed me in the pricing and lack of "new" releases. I have been so fearful of sizing and boxy cut jackets that I did not purchase anything this year. This new denim jacket caught my eye, and looks great on you (and Taylor for sure). Glad you got one despite the couple misleads. Glad to see Taylor and Happy New Year. Truly hoping you guys get married one day. ; )

Thank you for the review! My jacket came today but I'm experieincing an issue with the snaps, the main middle snaps are fine but the pocket snaps are weak, has no "snap" sound when closing and wants to open. Does your jacket have this issue?

If not for this video, I surely would have ordered the wrong size jacket. I am 5'10 and wear a 38R jacket, and the XS fit me perfectly and was even roomy. I would have never ordinarily bought XS!!! Weird Filson sizing. Thanks for posting the invaluable sizing info!

I bought the journeyman on a trip to DC at one of their stores. I wore it one time. ONE TIME. I tried to return it immediately after because the straps did not fit comfortably for long-term wear. I told Filson that I had worn the item. I was very clear about the situation. I sent the bag back. They sent it back to me saying it was not saleable because it was worn. Yeah I told them that. I contacted customer service again because I can't beleive that a $500 bag isn't returnable after 1 use. I was denied again. They say it's their 'policy'. WTF kinda policy is that? They don't care at all about customer satisfactions. So yes I have a very expensive, cool looking, uncomfotable bag that I can't travel with as planned. I will never spend money with them again. The jacket does not look too big. It looks proper. Edit: because the jacket is cotton and wool it might be purposely oversized to allow for shrinking. As those two fabrics are known to shrink.

L.C. King makes a great barn coat. Blanket lined and choice of blue denim or brown duck. Made in USA and value priced with coupons and frequent sales. I love it. Filson fit is never right, and their prices are sky high. Not to mention they apparently falsely advertised the coat. I'd send it back in a heartbeat.

Got one of these in Filson's winter sale after much hemming and hawing, but 50%.and this video were enough to push me towards it. Removed from the context of the misleading pre-order, I think it's a pretty great jacket for $250 (the sale price now). Somehow I expected with ~50% synthetic materials that the blanket lining would be much less coarse than it is, but that's Filson for you. I'm wondering if they made more than one run of these and corrected the sizing because the one I got is my normal Filson size (small, wear a medium in other brands) is not as oversized as I expected.

Are you referring to the vibrant green jacket? From what I recall, while they produce similar designs; this piece had been an official USFS issued jacket. It may actually be an image of one which sold (including additional USFS licensed badges) on eBay a few months ago!

It's probably best that it didn't get made like a double mac; it would be uncomfortable with the weight and restrictive with so many layers of 14 oz denim. The prototype probably made the wearer feel like they were carrying a backpack. Filson, now tooling up for a client base that doesn't buy their stuff for actual workwear, realize that they can produce a pseudo robust outdoor livery (beyond their standard, original pieces). It's a nice jacket, I wouldn't buy it and maybe a polyester sleeve liner would have been a nice touch, but again, I can see why they didn't do that either.

Filson's sizing jumped the rails. Only in the last few years. I don't know what happened, poor quality control I suspect. When you're manufacturing overseas, hard to keep it tight.

The acrylic in the lining is probably there to help with the hand feel. Wool, nylon and polyester will likely be quite dry/coarse on their own. Could be why
