Filtered Argon filling between Insulated glass panes

We’re (replacing) trapped oxygen between the glass panes with argon.
We’re not inflating with pressure due to the exspansion of the gas during summer months which causes unwanted seal fatigue. Thanks for watching

Thanks for the video, with the length of the unit would the top tube releasing the gas be better fitted at the opposite end to where it is filled? I just wondered it you would get a false reading that the unit is full.

A good idea it was easier from one side completely filled with argon the flow of Argon gas is heavier than air. I would recommended a larger exit diameter to decrease internal pressure.

Believeing my window seal failure is due to heat on a hot day creating pressure and blowing out the seal, would you consider using heat lamps to heat the windows during this process?

the temperature change from heat and cold make the panes inflate/deflate the cycles of movement eventually are the cause of the seal falling not sure if temperature during assembly helps or not? a good question

@@BostonMark Tyler and Mark, the assembly temp would matter but more importantly the altitude matters! Tyler you should find out where your windows were assembled. Its a common problem that their made at lower altitudes them shipped up the mountain and that dense air trapped inside pops the glass like your ears. They fail sooner then later, getting moisture inside. It's a common problem for motorhomes with dual panes especially since they travel all over. Mark, building onsite is about as good of quality as your'e going to get, no matter who's marketing what. Great video and great work!

Incidently, I would say also that you're probably better off erroring on heat in assembly rather then cold. A slight vacuum in the cold weather I assume is better then slight pressure in the summer. Rather to say its better that the air expands to equalize the pressure and contracts to a vacuum, then equal in the winter and expand to blow out the seal in the summer.

Any particular reason the top nozzle is ~1-2 inches from the top and not at the top exactly?

Great question! depending on the size of your existing orifice. it's worth running an oxygen pressure test thru your exit tube . If the candle blows out ...the pressure is too high and also risk damaging you igu seal. We set our welding regulator as low as it could go And it wasn't enough so we installed a shutoff valve 1/4 cracked to hit the sweet spot. Slow and steady wins the race

Your experience is worth reading, but if the pressure is too low, it may result in losing so much argon gas. What pressure do you suggest for a glass of 48"x48"?

You Could be on to something. I’ve learned the heat is always trying to go to the cold and argon is inert invisible helps slows down the passage between the panes

HM.... I have double glazed, perhaps I could just argon or better krypton (money allowing) fill them, instead of making new windows. This task is not as daunting. I wonder what happens with Xenon filled windows... hahaha (Radon is radioactive, so no, but what if...? ) :D

The white stuff on the aluminum spacer is the desiccant which is in the cores of the spacers, that absorbs moisture between the panes. when you see it that means it got so saturated that it fell thru tiny holes within the spacer
