@@HildagardeGaming Fun little fact, most people get the comparisons backwards. The boost / energy system in Armored Core served as a template for stamina in Demon Souls :v And tbh most comparisons made are about things that have been staples of AC long before DS was even a concept.

@@Zedrinbot Look I've played alot of AC games and outside of maybe 1-2 like Last Raven the fights are very differently designed and either straight up much harder than your average AC series fight or have a specific way you're expected to beat it that makes it easy while all other ways are much harder. And Last Raven was similarly divisive in the community for its boss difficulty. The tutorial boss is just poorly designed. The level leads you to believe its a ranged cover fight, the tiny box of invisible walls the helicopter flies through and you don't reinforce that. So do the helicopter blades that bounce you if you're an asshair too high in your approach. You're also playing a mech game and honestly, even the AC series has always primarily been ranged with sword being a backup or a "oh fuck this level ran me completely out of ammo" (missions actually used to be relevant and it wasn't just a boss rush). And your timing windows on the melee are not super tight but they are fairly tight for someone trying for the first time because you have to be good at the movement are highly capitalize on assault boost and also understand that the sword, unlike everything else you do, has a windup delay an forwards boost on it so you have to trigger it a bit early. These are all super easy things "once you know", but before you know are completely unintuitive. You literally have to use counterlogic if you want to solve the fight on the first run lol. So I'm not sure why you're trying to gaslight players about how the series is or how the fights are. AC 6 is very different from almost all the AC games and some of the fights are just not designed well to teach the player how to beat them or even actively discourage at first/second glance proper strategies to beat them by intentionally teaching you the wrong lessons.

TBH the game journalist skill comment rings completely false, just a mindless copy paste. If anything it undercuts itself. Game Journos rated it universally high. Which is ironic because we all know that there is no way in hell most of them actually beat the filter bosses, much less the short 10-15 hour normal campaign. So they positive reviewed a game they personally cannot play more than a tiny fraction of just because its a FromSoft game and they didn't want to admit they couldn't beat the bosses :P.

I wouldn't say it's really a filter. More like lessons. Attack Helicopter - Get into enemies blind spots Balteus - Stick close to the enemy and try different builds until they work Sea Spider - Pay attention to the stagger bar Ibis Series - Stager is important, but so is mobility After these, all the rest are just applying these until they work for your build. Ended up just creating a build that I can use in all situations.

That's the actual joke. The heli has a giant blindspot on it's back once you get close enough, something a non-AC player wouldn't realize. The second filter, Balteus's blindspot is literally in front of it, due to the missiles launching from back to front. One melee stagger and you can finish it without getting hit.

It's not that easy! XD You have to understand they're trying to tell BRAND NEW Armored Core players that they have to catch up to an air target that's constantly staggering them, and demands they learn how to manage their stamina, fly and melee and mobile target, all long before it even lets them go into training mode. It's quite a lot for a new player to take in. You add that red border it keeps flying out of and players can get quite confused. LOL That said I think it's not too hard since I've played AC for decades, but a fresh face? That's quite the start for AC6! No AC game has ever demanded so much from a new player! lol

I got my ass kicked by all of them. Finally looked up some building tips and en management and finally killed Balteus, but that helicopter kicked my ass a couple times. Died around 3 times on my first playthrough. I've seen all endings too. I loved fighting the bosses of the Fires of Raven ending more than anything else though.

Yeah, I think it's a bit overtuned tbh! Kind of demands some skills that would much better be learned slowly imo, but it demands you learn them immediately. Even before it lets you go into training. Pretty intense start. I've been a Raven for years and I'm astonished they want new pilots to assault boost a mobile air target and melee it while evading constant stagger. XD

The fight is really easy once you realize you gotta close the gap and fight in melee, which honestly seems to be a theme. For around 50% of the really tough fights the advice is just "get close, if you die get even closer". So it just seems to be teaching you that in the most violent way possible.

actually the helicopter mission is actually super easy to be honest the hardest boss are balteus,ayre and ibis series cel ibis gave me hell like it gave me over 164 tries just to beat it believe me i counted it. and ayre is so hard with her close range attacks like bruh if you're AC is not tanky you would be sliced like buter or staggered so hard while balteus is super annoying with his shield and missile and his near death phase is annoying because he would switch from main missile mode to close long sword mode

Also fun fact: all of the parts of your ac’s body except for the systems were designed by RaD and therefore Cinder Carla :)

Great first boss IMO. Tells you you gotta be bold in your attacks, take all opportunities you have to safely engage, and don't expect to be able to hide that much.

I just wish the ARs didn't have piss distance for tracking and deflection. The game all but shoehorns you into close-range stuff, and pretty much punishes you for using off-meta weapons. Why are there 4 types of ARs by ch3 if none of them are useful?

Normally they filter you with stiff controls and surprisingly mobile MTs. Now, with updated controls and better movement, From Software decided to filter us with a boss at the first level just to see if the players understood the mechanics and can combo them well. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

It did take me a few tries to beat that Attack Helicopter. Going melee in Armored Core was almost always an attack of opportunity for me rather than the goal so It took a bit to adjust. The real check for me though was the Ibis boss in chapter 4. It took me like three hours and switching to multiple different builds before I finally managed to beat him.

As someone who had no idea what armored core was but bought the game because I heard you could make custom mechs, I can proudly say I beat the helicopter boss at the beginning on my third try. It was actually a really fun fight. To be perfectly honest, I kinda hope there's another helicopter fight. Or at the very least, a heavily aerial mech fight.

The most annoying thing to me about the helicopter is the fact it can go out of bounds and still shoot. It also is frustrating to new players WHICH games need to grow player base. Only having that starting mech with NO advice is brutal. Balteus was way more fun by comparison as you can try different things against it (also love its design).

If anyone is still having trouble with the chopper. Simply assault boost and saber it to death. This game isn't dark souls or elden ring. Where you have to be patient and wait for openings. No, in here. You go in and go very aggresive.

Meanwhile, the gamer who is patient, crazy, and/or skilled enough to get past _Assault_ (heh) Helicopter Lady's filter will eventually pass that, plus others...then fight Assault Helicopter Lady again. This time while arming his/her Armored Core with a Pilebunker. And knowing how these sketches would usually go, the Armored Core is also inexplicably a thicc mecha lady.

The helicopter really teaches you 3 important things tha smooth brains can't figure it out. 1. verticality: this is not dark souls, you have jump and jets, use it. 2. risk taking: the helicopter is THICC and clumsy, kiss it on the nose and belly ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) 3. out gunned: you will always be outgunned on bosses, die and learn, git gud.
