I'm curious about how much cleaning and sterilizing was done after the contents of the house were re moved. Since the house had rats it needed a lot more than "carpenters and decorators", it needs to be sterilized.

@@janesmith9024 don't speak too soon! I had a well paid job as an accountant and ended up disabled after 2 accidents I didn't cause! Now I live in social housing (owned by a charity but the council runs the list) where as before I had a mortgage. Life can change in the blink of an eye! In answer yes they do clean the properties, but as a normal person would I cleaned again as I moved in, my family helped. You are given a decorating pack and can choose your colour paint for each room, it's their property so they provide that and you do the work or live with what was there. Those brown floor tiles are in just about all their properties as they are washable, you have to pay for your own flooring if you don't want to live with those tiles and you pay for your own appliances.

I used to work doing something similar as a safety supervisor its to make sure employees aren't mistaken by a smell causing unnecessary "down time" it's a big HR billing issue especially since they work with the council so it's a hugely regulated ordeal

When I worked at a gas station sone idiot did something to one of the pumps causing gallons and gallons of gasoline to spill out into the parking lot and down the street. I had to have the manager come ok it before I could call hazmat. It is stupid, most bureaucracy is.

You can tell the workers have phoned their supervisor to tell him there was a gas leak in the property and the supervisor being a cheapskate goes down their to try and disprove them or 'fix' the problem himself instead of spending money getting a plumber up. You can see at 5:54 the workers reaction to his supervisor 😂

It looks like the Council need to do quarterly checks like private Landlords do, to make sure tenants obey T&C's to 'keep the property in good order'. Then they could evict before it gets this bad, for breach of contract (if warnings & time to rectify it are ignored) .

They are working for the council here. In some episodes they specifically say they were allowed to take things. So yeah to shorten paperwork, they were ordered to move everything from A to B no exceptions. Edit: Yea rats too. It might have urine and feces all over it. This man will be dead I expect so no. In theory if it were a private landlord the landlord could sue for the damage or keep the house deposit but this is UK provided state housing so they will rarely recover losses from tenants which is why our taxes are so high in the UK.

it's sad to see things getting destroyed, but it's unsafe to keep any of it. it would honestly worry me if anyone kept the items, and i know sometimes they do...but i wish they wouldn't. it just makes me nervous, i guess.

2:00 dude come on that’s not trash that is in really good shape and is a collectible for some people, I’m not really into that sort of stuff but it looks like it could be worth something like £100. Not *everything* is trash

it was probably contaminated by the rat droppings. plus, they arent really instructed to do anything but clear out and trash things. its a sad reality that even the most valuable items have to be destroyed because they arent really able to be refurbished.
